When our house was being built over 40 years ago, I omitted the overhead lights in the living room and my bedroom. I use various lamps in both rooms and I love it.
Apart from the changing leaves, having lots of little battery-operated candles & lanterns turn on automatically every night is my favourite part of fall & winter. I also like to do a mini decor update in January, usually with dark blue or teal and a light sprinkling of metallic accents to add a little winter magic to Jan-Feb-Mar ✨
Love your videos and love your style. I'm big into mid century, and you've really helped me to embrace the wood in my house by nourishing it with products instead of just getting new things. I feel like you've also given me permission to just like what I like instead of necessarily liking what's trending. Thanks! Your place is beautiful, and inspiring.
I'm relatively new to your channel, but I really appreciate that you're very conscious that not everyone's operating with an unlimited budget. Even though midcentury modern isn't my decorating style, I love seeing the beautiful decor you put together using thrifted and less expensive items!
Agree. She has just enough decor. But not so much it looks LIKE a thrift shop! I could furnish an entire store with my finds stored in my garage. Thank God I don't have a basement.
I like what you had to say about rugs....we actually use a thinner rug in the spring and summer, but layer a thick, shag carpet for winter. I love the feel of this rug under my feet, and I have young grandchildren that like to throw pillows on the floor and watch movies. I also have made a collection of fabric pumpkins in warm colors, more sophisticated patterns, that I arrange on my dining table and fireplace!
I love it! I think it’s vintage mid century. I got it at this cool estate sale that had all these beautiful modernist pieces! So not sure where it’s from
I love the idea of switching everything seasonally, but where do you store the off season stuff?? Throw pillows and glasses and lamps, that's a lot of stuff!
I covered this a bit in my $0 makeover video so go check that out! But mainly I am rotating decor between rooms and I allow myself a certain amount of storage space for decor because it’s what I love! I also make use of crazy organization haha I am always organizing!
LOVE all the lamps. That is cozy to me. Yes, do your favorite scents please! I trust your opinion. Also, please do this exact video for the Holidays. I don't love being to literal. Thanks!
Haha I love it! The blanket is from an estate sale I went to in January! So no idea the era or brand as it has no tag, but this blanket I saw on Schoolhouse's website is similar in design and color palette! go.shopmy.us/p-7802444
Found your channel today as my partner and I are weeks away from moving into a tiny charming vintage apartment in SD. You’re giving me so much inspiration and helping me articulate plans I was already interested in 🙏🏻
Happy Sunday evening from the PNW, LK! I turned on my faux electric fireplaces this morning for ambiance; lol! Love your geometric-patterned blanket, where is it from?
Yes i feel the same about August being too early for fall. Normally i dont switch out for fall things until the Autumn Equinox. In my mind thats offically fall and usually in part of the US the weather is finally not like 80F outside 😆
Sooo jealous! Watching from Florida, so we don’t get the cold weather. We may get a couple of weeks of cooler weather if we’re lucky-unless you’re in north FL. I still love to decorate with throws and fluffy pillows anyway! One can wish, right?? ❤
My family in TB area and Daytona think winter is cold! It’s so ridiculous to see the ppl out in winter coats and Uggs and even sweaters 🤦♀️ It’s hardly cold enough for longsleeves! They keep the heat at 76 too N the AC at 78 HELP
I regularly swap colours around for seasons, more summer to winter and then Christmas. I never thought to bring my cat out for autumn. He is definitely cosy but not sure where to put him the rest of the year. Oh well, I just will have to fail that part.
I have a genuine question about battery-powered lights, puck lights etc. Where can you buy ones that actually have a good, long battery life? When I turn mine on, I usually intend to use it all evening, but after a few hours they dim out. And I don't really want to change the batteries or re-charge every single time I want to use one. Does a long-lasting battery or rechargeable light exist? I'm talking like....at least 100 hours before you have to recharge?
100 hours?! That sounds industrial. Never heard of that, even with solar powered lights. I use battery powered lights as accents. There's one I use more frequently and I don't mind charging it. It's just on my morning to-do list -- charge phone, charge lamp. However -- I do have lights that last all evening. All the ones I've suggested have never died in an evening. But they might be dead the next morning..
Your comments about lamps are so true. The most beautiful room can look gloomy with only ceiling lights. We even use only lamps in the kitchen.
I agree! I don't like using any overhead lights, so I have plenty of lamps in every room for that reason!
Yes! When I tell my husband let's go to bed he says see you in a half hour after you turn off all the lamps 😭😂

So true!

love that!
Video on scents? Yes please!
Perfect timing. Also in SD and also couldn't stomach decorating for fall until I wasn't sweating to death.
Haha right!!
That crochet blanket on your sofa is the quintessential fall cozy blanket! Did you create that? Love the colors😊
I love it! I think it’s vintage mid century. I got it at this cool estate sale that had all these beautiful modernist pieces! So not sure where it’s from

Throw pillow covers are easy to change out and store if they have zippers. Throws can be tucked into pillow covers, too, when not in use.
Thumbs up on a fragrance/ scent video. That would be great! Thanks 🎉
"Olive" The Autumnal Cat. Love Her.

Hello! Where's the throw blanket behind you from?
hi! I got it from an estate sale :)
@@livingwithlk Lucky you! It's beautiful :)
Where did you get the throw that is sitting behind you in this video?
an estate sale!

I really tried to add mood lighting with these kinds of lights and I've never been happy with the results.

I can't even have fake plants. One of my cats is obsessed with faux florals and he will eat them!
omg!! hahaha
Is this what you do for a living? Curate spaces?
In the past I did it editorially and in film/tv
Please don’t promote getting cats for “cozy” vibes only it takes commitment and some people just get them for fall/halloween then dump them
Haha!
