- Hey homeschool friends! I am so excited to share all of the Sonlight books with my 4 year old twins. Over the next few years we will use Sonlight HBL-T and Sonlight HBL-P. Have you used either of these programs?

This is exactly what I’m doing with my newly 5 year old instead of jumping straight to K level. We’re loving T so far and we’re running through it since we do more than 3 days a week cause the books are just really engaging and fun.
These levels are so fun!!
This looks like so much fun! 🙂 Lots of great books. And that's awesome you can use some of the stuff you already have.
This was so fun to see! I just started Simply Classical C from Memoria press with my preschooler and we love all the books but he always wants more, so I've been picking some from sonlight lists. We just got Milly Molly Mandy as well.
Love how you’ve modified their curriculum to make it work for you. Book choices look great. My kids LOVE The Bernstein Bears Science book.
Nothing wrong wiv swapping books!!! The science books look awesome. I’ve only used play for science at that age and still am with our 4 year old!!!
This is very similar to how I would like to do preschool/prek. We have so many books already and I’ll just piece together what we have and do other academic things. 😄
Yes! I've found my kids do best with SL when we stay at the upper end of the age ranges.
I agree, sometimes I get so excited for upcoming levels that I think about pushing them faster ... but then I stop myself :)
Loved looking into this! We are wrapping up the first half of Level T next week. My daughter is 3.5yo now, so I took the Level T and split it over this year and next. So when we start the Prek Level, she will be turning 5 and we'll do that whole Level in 1 year at that time. :)
We didn't use any of the extras beyond the books either. We DID do the "baking a biscuit pizza" with the "Pete's a Pizza" book in Level T. Both of my kiddos loved that!
I love that Level T has been such a good fit for your family - I will definitely check out the pizza activity, thank you!
Well I’ll just comment on ALL your vids now I guess 😂 this is such a good plan. I love this bc I was so torn between doing preschool or level k for my 4.5 year old. But this idea alongside Abeka to learn to read may be what we do next year 🤷🏻♀️
Yep, that is my plan ... I think they will balance really well :)
Most people on the Facebook group recommend doing PreK with age 4-5, then do level A before K. So level A in kindergarten age 5-6 followed by level K at age 6-7. Haven’t gotten there myself but just fyi!
What Facebook group? I wonder why the K is more advanced than A… and if Sonlight will adjust that? I’m starting Sonlight pre-k with my daughter in the fall.
It’s called Sonlight Homeschooling Moms. They revamped preschool last year and PreK this year, so I’m guessing K is next?
Sorry, Sonlight Homeschool Moms (not homeschooling)
Hi! Yes, that is my plans as well ... I'm thinking, Level T - Level P - Level A (w/K read alouds) and then Level K (with A read alouds)! What level are you currently using?
We’re starting PreK this fall!
Do you have a link for the HBL multiple children (books on a shelf) printout? I can’t find the cute book printout, just an excel type.
Hi! It was in the PDF catalog :) I think you can download it off their site.
I recently purchased level K for my son, who turns 5 in July and my daughter who will be 7 in June. We are only on week 5, but I feel like it’s too much for my little guy and he is not getting much out of it. He is learning his letter sounds, but the storybooks are hard for him to follow. Im considering purchasing the 4-5 year program for him even though he’ll be considered a kindergartener in the fall. There are so many options and my head is spinning from trying to decide what to do 😣
This fall for my 5-kindergarten and my first grader who will be 7 I may do the read aloud in the pre-K level and supplement my 1st grader with Abeka history, science, health readers
It is so hard to decide, but you know your kids best! I would say that HBLK is a bit advanced for a 5 year old ... my 7/8 year old got the most out of it! More than his 6 year old sister. You can always come back to level K :)
Once you get into the thick of it I’m curious how long you spend reading each day. I keep going back/forth on the early years Bookshark. Books look great but it just feels like a lot.
I will keep you updated!
Are you going to schedule all the books? Aren’t you? How?
I'm planning on doing Level T this upcoming year (22-23) and Level P next year (23-24) ... so not all the books in one year :)
Have you done A with your kids yet?
Not yet, my big kids did an around the world study with Build Your Library. But I'm planning on using A between Preschool and HBLK for the twins :)
Is the preschool instructor's guide available for free or purchase. I tried getting it but looks like I have to buy with the books.
If you click on "What's Included" tab when looking at the package there will be links for each item individually including the teacher guide. It's not free - I think they are usually like $60 or $70.
@@jessicaTX964 thank you
are you starting with t and ending with p or doing both at the same time?
We started with T before going into P ... but we did both of those levels at our own pace, which was a bit faster than written!
How instrumental is it to have the instructor's guide if you are just using the booklist only?
It probably depends on what you are wanting - I love the instructors guide for the schedule as well as the discussion questions!
What are you using for math please?
We are using Abeka K4 ... which is numbers and letters and then for Kindergarten next year we will start with Saxon Math 1.
Ok maybe I'll do this instead! haha. I feel like the website is so confusing!
Haha, the website can be confusing - I like the catalog better! Hope you are doing well :)
@@sciencemama would it be too much to do TGTB math, all about reading, and sonlight?
We hated uncle wiggly. Have you started it yet?
Oh no! We haven’t gotten to that one yet, I will keep you updated!
