  • The concept of the “big city dream” has lured millions of migrants from all over the Philippines to its center, Manila, with a promise of a better life, far beyond anything they can attain in their hometowns in rural areas. Unfortunately, the big city didn't fulfill their dreams. Most of them end up living in impoverished slums, including the hundreds of thousands who have settled down in the country's largest dumpsite - Payatas. This is where the story of an 8-year-old boy named Jobert and his family begins.
Jobert and other kids as young as five make a living by scavenging for scraps they can sell to the junkshops. But to get first chance on the best scraps, these kids jump and climb aboard moving garbage trucks before they reach the dumpsite. Every day, they risk their lives to supplement their parents' meager earnings. Most of these children are malnourished. A few attend school, while the rest do not. How long will they be trapped in this situation before they reach their big city dreams?
