Simply Woodworking 50th Vid Special! - Let's carve a Church - Hand tool Relief Carving in Lime

In my channel's exciting 50th celebratory video I TRY REAL HARD to effectively relief-carve a local village church, namely St. Helen's Church in Ainderby Steeple, North Yorkshire. It came out better than I expected, if a long way short of perfect. Still, my first big carving, and if nothing else I have a fancy door-stop! I proper loved doing it, so I suspect there'll be more of these types of carvings coming in the future. Beware.
Thanks to the fine people at St Helen's church for letting me roam about and disturb them - we had a nice little chat. I hope I did that lovely old church at least some justice.

Only just stumbled across your channel and this video has inspired me to try and branch out into trying carving. I'm going to try and (once I've had some practice!) Carve my old family church. My ancestors have been buried there for hundreds of years so would be a nice present for grandad! Keep up the good work.

Love the music choices too - reminds me of folk nights down the pub.
