  • Hi Everyone. Pressed Flowers are expensive to buy, so this Aboofx Microwave Flower Press amzn.to/3NLfzrT is a real game changer . It also takes a lot of time to press them traditionally. With this method you can have pressed dried flowers ready to use in your crafting projects within just a few minutes. I show how to quickly press flowers in the microwave and use them in different projects.

I don’t know if you’ve covered this is any previous videos- but if your uv resin ever dries tacky, here is a neat little trick to fix it...
Simply pop it in a cup/dish of water (just enough to cover the entire item) and give it another round under the uv light!
When it comes out of the water, it will be tacky-free!☺️👍
Of course this might not be a practical fix for EVERY possible situation. Like, if it’s a really large/unwieldy project, or something that can’t be fully immersed in water-and obviously it’s far better to avoid the issue from the get-go...
But in a pinch, this trick has definitely saved my bacon with smaller items, more times than I care to remember! 😆

I'll definitely try that! I have some weird UV resin that just doesn't want to cure ever, not under sunlight or anything. I usually put a layer of manicure top coat on it, but I hope this water method will work ❤️ thank you for the idea!

If you are hesitant about buying this item, don't be! I saw this used on UA-cam and knew I needed it. It's been sitting for about 2 weeks, just been busy. So today I was pruning my petunias and several fell off or needed to be removed. So I thought it was the perfect time to try it out. It worked so well I went in the yard to get a few different things to try. And it worked wonderfully for everything I tried! I will say the instructions are a bit confusing. Do NOT wet the pieces of cloth that you put the floral on. Only wet the felt pads. Don't worry if some of the color comes off the flowers, it won't bleed onto other flowers. I did 34 flowers and a ton greenery in an hour! Late last summer I spent an entire day trying a diy method. Lost the color, or burnt nearly all of the floral I used. This thing did the exact opposite and seemed to enhance the colors. And as long as you go slow you won't burn anything, my microwave is 1100 watts.
If you do something VERY delicate, Iike petunias, I suggest using pointy, curved tweezers to separate the flowers from the cloth or you will definitely rip them. It only takes a little patience and getting to know your microwave and the different floral for the burst times needed. It will vary depending on the wattage of your microwave and the moisture content of the floral you are using.
No more buying pressed/dried flowers again!!!
    Thank you Steve!

The aboofx product is a great little item but please be careful as you could quite easily cause a fire or burn your flowers if on full power for too long. I recommend short bursts of 5-10 seconds. Re-position flower/leaves to a drier spot then go again. Quite time consuming but worth it. Write results in a journal for the next time you use it. Different flowers/ leaves have different drying times.

Thanks Steve! Your videos are fantastic because your projects aren't necessarily meant to be duplicated. Instead, you teach technique and experiment with different products which is exactly what I need. You have saved me lots of time and money helping me get it right the first time and helping me find options I didn't know I had. I probably won't dry my own flowers yet but I have poured a bunch of different resin butterflies to use in jewlery and they all look too plastic and I don't like them. Dried pansy wings is genius though and I wouldn't have thought of that on my own so I wanted to thank you for that. I truly appreciate all your efforts!

Thanks Steve. That was really helpful ❤
How do you know when they are dry enough?
Also, will these flowers keep their colour indefinitely?

Absolutely beautiful! You can't beat nature for the real thing! This is the first that I've heard about a special microwave for drying flowers. Now I know how people can get real colorful flowers to last in resin. So, these flowers won't turn brown? Pardon me if you said that but I am 90% deaf and cc just gets in the way of your technique. Now, on to price a different microwave. Do they come with the tools needed to dry or is that seperate? Anyway, I totally enjoyed this video and am so happy I found a way to quickly dry flowers. Alas, my new recent dried flowers fell apart and didn't retain their colors. Thank you so much!🌼⚘👍😊

I think he just meant that this microwave he’s using, he only uses for crafting, and not for food items. It’s not special, other than his saying it’s pretty high-powered, it’s just a dedicated tool in his studio.

I put the flowers in a notebook between baking sheets for a day to straighten them and then for a day(most of flowers are dry in a day, except white roses or tulips (2-3days))in silica powder.
    I don't have a microwave 🖐️

I ordered this as soon as I finished the video. But I haven't had the same lovely results. My flowers seem to discolor even if I go slow (20 sec at 30%). Not sure what I'm doing wrong but will keep trying 🙂.

They are easier to remove if you let them cool off a bit. :-)

Looks so cool. But does the leafs and flowers yellow in the resin after a while?

Can you tell me please, when you drill through the leaves, doesn't that expose the leaf to the air as you effectively take away the resin and it doesn't set in the leaf?

I made a bunch of leaf earrings just like these two years ago and worried about moisture getting into the leaves and ruining them over time. So I gave them a little extra effort, drilled the holes a bit bigger and carefully covered the rim inside the holes with resin using a tiny brush. I also covered the outer rim since the resin just popped off the leaves when I didn't. They still look nice.

Hello there. I love this, thanks for sharing. I am buying the press through your link provided. I would also like to buy the torch, can you provide the link for that too? Thanks!

@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts unfortunately, a bunch of fire torches for cooking came up. I was able to find a rechargeable uv one one so I don't have to keep buying batteries for it, though. Was just hoping to support you a bit.

Has anyone tried the press with more dimensional flowers? I have daffodils and hyacinths that will come up in a few months, and I would be very curious how something like that dries in this gadget.

Hi Steve! Please can I ask what wattage your microwave is? Mine is 1000, so it would be useful to know yours so I can set mine at lower if necessary. Thank you!😊

Hi Steve. I'm so glad that you showed how to do this. I was able to buy one during prime days on Amazon for only $15.99. I couldn't believe the bargin. I see that they have a larger sized one too, but it's a bit more. I have this size. (Also, thankx to you again, I was able to get the UV drying machine for only $31.99, instead of $49.99). Thankx for your continual experiments with different things. You're the best.
