@32:20 "Sam Peckinpah...that's a beautiful name in Navajo." A personal salute from Sergio Leone to the legendary film maker who pioneered slow-motion violence and carnage sequences copied by so many other directors. Sam Peckinpah directed the 1969 film *The Wild Bunch* which is the name of the gang in this film.
I watched this movie while on a ship in the Pacific Ocean on our way to Australia for Operation Kangaroo II. We were around a well deck where a sheet was hung and the audio was atrocious, basically couldn't hear the dialogue at all. But when Hill began slapping that guy and grabbing his guns the place erupted with howls of laughter. We had no idea what the movie was about but the visuals were hilarious and kept us guffawing for a good hour and a half. Semper Fidelis!
Absolutely classic scene! One of the clearest childhood memories og mine, watched on a half-bad VHS tape copy. Which brings me to a real-life childhood memory. My mate got harrassed by an annoying character, and my mate basically played out that scene, though without the guns. Guy just stood helplessly getting slapped. It was a crowdpleaser, where justice was served, and the bully got put in his place.
Man, l watched this film the year it came out. More’n 50 years ago. And l find it ages well, like fine wine - brandy even! Thanks for airing it! … And now, 40 minutes in - l see l’ve forgotten more than l remember. What a hoot of a spoof. Gents, it’s the right stuff for sure. And for posterity
Over the years I have watched this plenty of times, and it is still one of the coolest westerns - the Terrence Hill fascinating comedy and action with some great music. Caught is the web is one of my favorites (Henry Fonda) who is caught in the middle of it all - such strange duo, but what a great one it became ... Definitely one of the Great Classics and at the top of its class.
im 30 i dont cnow any of thouse Actors I come across by accident with this movie I was looking for something interesting and i have enjoyed it , I'm glad that I come across absolutely fantastic
It's been probably close to 40 years since I've seen this. Such strange music and direction choices, but still an absolute classic. Enjoyed it just as much as I did way back then. Henry Fonda is one of my all time favorite actors and Terrance Hill was great for these quirky comedy Westerns.
Tremendous sadness I feel in this film, I think it's because of the reminders of life's brevity and hardships, how hard it is to be good. Nobody is the only one, but doesn't he pretend to agree to kill Beauregard for money, or what happened upstairs in that posher game room, after he taught the errand boy a lesson? And selfish to have him die only for his own idol-dream to come true.. B. was only 51, too young to die, even for a gun man. Commenters call the film funny, and of course it is. A true comedy(=serious, deep humour with meaning.) It was good to hear the explanation of that bird-story. "Not everybody who covers you in shit is your enemy, and not everyone helping you out of it is your friend. When you get a shave, see that you know who is holding the knife."
Storyline: Jack Beauregard, once the greatest gunslinger of the Old West, only wants to move to Europe and retire in peace, but a young gunfighter, known only as "Nobody," idolizes him and wants to see him go out in a blaze of glory. He arranges for Jack to face the 150-man gang known as The Wild Bunch and earn his place in history. :)
YEA, ive seen this movie at least 8 times, but i still enjoy it like it was the first time, TWO of the greatest western stars, that ever existed, and still are.....THANKS
Man and it's free, Damn Amazon...The opening scene is excellent. Truly an entertaining film you'll watch it again make sure you watch the others as well by Terence Hill they are excellent as well. Funny I mean really funny..Action the Westerns are supposed to be..perfect film

Mid 70s London; I saw the ad in the Evening Standard and took the tube all the way from Kew to somewhere in some notorious part of East End (can't remember the location but I was scared ) to watch it.
Hell of a stage set Sergio Leon did at the end of the film, on the Mississippi with Jackson square in the back ground in New Orleans..... Don't know if it could be pulled off again..... Great job! Fantastic Movie and a pleasure to watch again after all these years... Thank you....
This movie is best watched with your six-guns by your side and... Your best bourbon... and Rousseau playing Liszt - Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 in the background
Spaghetti Westerns taste best al dente. Most, like this film, are ridiculous, over the top. But it's like traveling to an alternative American West on an Earth-like planet in some parallel universe. Familiar yet alien.

The clothing and guns look a lot more realistic than Hollywood productions. Love it.

Male stars of the last generation, such as Henry Fonds, Gregory Peck, Paul Newman, etc. are definitely better looking than this generation’s.
And elegant! 👌❤️
Ahhh... the great Sergio Leone!!! This is the best spaghetti western that doesn't have Clint Eastwood.
Clint Eastwood is in it.

It's one of those films that even at double speed is still too slow! That was artistic creativity back then. Thanks tho.
How have I never seen this before? That was hilarious. Never heard of Terrence Hill. but he was a hoot. I'll have to seek out his other movies.

The Best Western Ever ..I Saw So Many ..
The opening scene reminds me of a well crafted short story called "Just Lather, That's All." I think the author was Hernando Tellez
The sound of the guns is the best

As sort of a western purity snob who never eats at Olive Garden, I'll just call this a whimsical western.
Don't know, was expecting a real western, guess I will stick to John Wayne, Gregory Peck, Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson tipe westerns.
