I was young learning about Marcos, I wasn't even born yet but they say we, the children, are the future and yes that's true. Unfortunately, Marcos couldn't live forever to show us how great Philippines could grow, democracy is democracy but it's been used, abused and taken for granted by these politicians who looks after themselves more than the people. Marcos may be the iron fist, he may have had unspeakable actions to design this country's success but he was OUTSTANDING. His memoirs, and iron fist is what I wish I have grown with if I know I could live in a country safe, secured and as successful as the US. Like a parent to a child, he was a FATHER to this country and he did not spoil it.

I was really very young then when during Marcos time. I grew up with people who hated Marcos and so in my very young mind also I learned to hate this GREAT MAN. I was part of those people who celebrated when Marcos was thrown to Hawaii. But as years gone by, I realized that I was wrong. This man had done so many great things for our country. During his time the Philippines was second richest country in Asia or even the richest one. We are so powerful that even China was scared and bowed before us. We almost have MISSILE and ROCKETS courtesy of Marcos. Infrastructure projects were all over the country. If he really had stolen money from the government but at least he had put the Philippines in the highest pedestal in Asia. I cannot control my tears every time I viewed all the achievements of Marcos as the president. Our leaders today did nothing to our country but enrich themselves. ***** The economy was already going down before he went into office and during his time he had to fight the filth that was the Communist movement moving downwards from the mainland. He had so much on his plate to handle you would have no idea how fathom the hardships he had to face in making the decisions he made. Overall, people's lives did get better and he invested greatly in infrastructure which did in fact make people's lives better and unfortunately no else made that sort of investment until the current President which is why the Philippines was in the state it was until about 5 years ago. My great grandfather worked along side Marcos in the late 50's and early 60's when the economy was doing great and then something happened between then and when he went into the office. I have no account of this myself but I can tell you it wasn't all Marcos and people are stupid to lay all the blame on him. He took on a great and trying task when he stepped into the picture so he had to implement a series of aggressive tactics that might not have looked so good at first restrospect glance but the lives of Filipinos overall did improve especially with the Communist aggression that was happening in the Philippines. Of course a person in high office will have personal interest in mind. This is a reality. However, to say his personal interest is what drove the country into the ground is asinine. He didn't start any transcontinental wars sucking the country dry of resources and man power but instead tried his best to contain everything that was wrong within the country and to do this you have to be aggressive, numb at times to the emotions of the average working man but overall you must have an idea in your mind that the land beneath your feet is what you're inevitably fighting to keep intact and he did just that. He had integrity and fortitude to take on the tasks he was faced with and he did it in the best way he could as just a single member of a flip flop government. Remember, the president is not the only person running the country but instead there are many behind the curtain that held influence that you and I will never know about.

I was young learning about Marcos, I wasn't even born yet but they say we, the children, are the future and yes that's true. Unfortunately, Marcos couldn't live forever to show us how great Philippines could grow, democracy is democracy but it's been used, abused and taken for granted by these politicians who looks after themselves more than the people. Marcos may be the iron fist, he may have had unspeakable actions to design this country's success but he was OUTSTANDING. His memoirs, and iron fist is what I wish I have grown with if I know I could live in a country safe, secured and as successful as the US. Like a parent to a child, he was a FATHER to this country and he did not spoil it.

I was really very young then when during Marcos time. I grew up with people who hated Marcos and so in my very young mind also I learned to hate this GREAT MAN. During his time the Philippines was second richest country in Asia or even the richest one. We are so powerful that even China was scared and bowed before us. If he really had stolen money from the government but at least he had put the Philippines in the highest pedestal in Asia. ***** The economy was already going down before he went into office and during his time he had to fight the filth that was the Communist movement moving downwards from the mainland. He had so much on his plate to handle you would have no idea how fathom the hardships he had to face in making the decisions he made. Overall, people's lives did get better and he invested greatly in infrastructure which did in fact make people's lives better and unfortunately no else made that sort of investment until the current President which is why the Philippines was in the state it was until about 5 years ago. My great grandfather worked along side Marcos in the late 50's and early 60's when the economy was doing great and then something happened between then and when he went into the office. I have no account of this myself but I can tell you it wasn't all Marcos and people are stupid to lay all the blame on him. He took on a great and trying task when he stepped into the picture so he had to implement a series of aggressive tactics that might not have looked so good at first restrospect glance but the lives of Filipinos overall did improve especially with the Communist aggression that was happening in the Philippines. Of course a person in high office will have personal interest in mind. This is a reality. However, to say his personal interest is what drove the country into the ground is asinine. He didn't start any transcontinental wars sucking the country dry of resources and man power but instead tried his best to contain everything that was wrong within the country and to do this you have to be aggressive, numb at times to the emotions of the average working man but overall you must have an idea in your mind that the land beneath your feet is what you're inevitably fighting to keep intact and he did just that. He had integrity and fortitude to take on the tasks he was faced with and he did it in the best way he could as just a single member of a flip flop government. Remember, the president is not the only person running the country but instead there are many behind the curtain that held influence that you and I will never know about.
