The 48 soda cans completely ruin the CO2 balance of that trip. 😅
Hi Kris! Suggestion. Let more of the interior be in frame when driving, it's not super inticing to just see asphalt.
Superb video Kris !! Love this road trips vids with the E-Tron GT !!! Keep it up man !!
One of the better videos Kris. Lots of into and natural entertainment. Keep em coming!
Enjoy the beast! Well deserved! Looking forward to next ones
Looking forward to your videos from IAA, hopefully for you the collab with Kyle will bring you lots of new subscribers.
nice . thanks for the trip
Very well made video. Love everything that is happening with your channel now. Road trips, amazing new cars and this co-op with Kyle, which tops it all! His reviews are some of the best. Seems like a really nice fellow too.
Cool that you use the route planner. I think it's underestimated. Question: When you use Individual mode, like you did on the first leg, will the car use the front motor only, like in Range mode?
Love these road trips Kris! Would be awesome if you added some more shots of the cities you pass through. Might require a little detour, but would be so cool for us at home to get a taste/experience more of the cities you’re driving through on ur trip
Yes I agree. Some more visuals are always interesting along with the EV information you give us. Love your channel.
Nice video :-) Looking forward to the next one :-)
Hei Kris! I am quite curios about the ferry from Hirtshals to Kristiansand. It's super fast and allows EVs to charge on board. Please consider to take the ferry back to Norge. I would love to see a review of the charging on board :)
Whats the charing spec on these ferries?
Which of the two ferries (Colorline or Fjordline) is it and is the charging for free?
@@Wesensteen Fjord line, and they take 99kr for charging and max 22KW.
Nice to see you in DK 🇩🇰 Been EV owner for 3 weeks know (P*2) and I love it. Covered 3.500 km those 3 weeks, among those a trip to Berlin. Thanks for being a great motivator for EV. You “convinced” me to go the EV way.
Loved this car
Love your road trips because of the information and the scenery. WOW! 249 KPH is 155 MPH. Amazing. Thanks for the informative and visual road trip. Just as a side note it would be interesting to us in America on how much does a hotel cost in different parts of Europe.
Thanks! Like my trip to Italy I will do a video after the trip with all the prices 😊 I can include hotels also 👌
Hi Kris, the Øresund connection is total 15,9 km long, and the Storebælt connection is total 17 km long :) But if only measuring the main bridge, then the Øresund bridge is about 1 km. longer than Storebælt. Storebælt opened about 2 years before Øresund (1998/2000)
Just a tip for your return trip to Norway. Pepsi Max is on special offer at Fleggaard in Flensburg until september 14th.
3 x 24 cans for DKK 129.99, or 1 x 24 cans for DKK 59.99.
Welcome to Munich mate, my hometown :)
Kris, steady close ups of the data read outs from both car and charger would be nice if possible, cheers.
So about 150MPH nice and quick :)
Good solution with thas cooler, I keep mine in the trunk to reduce noise in the cabin. I remember that in my old e-class I had a refrigerated (with air conditioning) armrest storage, it was very useful, it's a pity they don't fit them in new cars anymore.
My Skoda Superb has a refridgerated armrest storage and glovebox. I feel like most pepole doesnt use it so they costcut it.
@@RRUser2003 Looks like skoda is more premium than mb now ;)
Great video. Love the high speed run. Did you mentioned the avg consumption at high speed? Also if you would be in a race in Germany what would be the perfect driving speed to minimize overall time incl. charging.
Then we know, i had also peak of 153kW at ionity Helsingborg this summer with a taycan. Probably issues with chargers or low grid capacity at the site. Great video 👍
I believe you are correct there!
Have you considered the ferry Rødby - Puttgarden? It would cut about 150 km and some charging. Timeconsumption about same.
That Saab thou @5 minutes!
Nice video, thanks. Regarding the charging in Helsingborg: do the HPC's get their current straight from the net or is there a battery storage involved? I'm guessing that if there was a battery involved (hidden somewhere in a container or small housing) it might have been drained by the 4 cars fast charging..
Hi Kris as always nice review! Congrats on your new e-tron GT fabulous!!! In your high speed run 20:00 you put the drive mode in dynamic but not in “S” mode. Is this not the case with the e-tron GT? As with the e-tron 55???
I think you need to to a proper experiment with these connectors. It is easy to suffer from confirmation bias. Make a contraption to apply pressure consistently then try to start ~40 charging sessions. 20 with pressure applied and 20 without, and see if there is a statistical significant difference in the number of failed sessions
Hey Kris, did you try the battery preheating when navigating to an HPC and do you see any differences
Thanks for sharing your e-tron GT journey! Great vids! Curious if you could comment on the following: do you sense any change in the amount of recoup you get via paddle shifters now that the car is broken in? I ran across a post where someone said it changes after 1500 miles.
It's funny from a Danish perspective the Storebælt bridge is gigantic in comparison.
Øresundsforbindelsen is 2 km shorter than Storebæltsforbindelsen (18 km).
So for a person like me living on the Zealand (Sjælland) island - Øresund is the smaller crossing.
Lillebælt which is the third bridge is a fairly short crossing though it is correctly connecting the western Europe northern peninsula (Jylland) to Scandinavia.
The main span of the Storebælt bridge is more than 3 times longer than Øresund - namely 1624 meter versus 490 meter.
Try crossing in windy conditions you will see that Storebælt is a whole different beast 😉
What was the kWh consumption at 240 kph
I haven't had that problem with any ionity chargers. Just plug it in and not holding it. Is it an audi problem?
Awesome
Hei kris . Gratulere med nye gliset en gang til .
But how is it to drive this GT compare to P2 .
Will your GT cost more then P2
hey kris, at ionity , don 't you have to badge fist , before you connect the car?
Hi,
I’ve noticed that the navigation software wants you to arrive at a charging station with 20+% of battery.
Can’t you change that to 10 or 5% like on ABRP?
I’ve heard that VW is doing it or planning to introduce that possibility in the future but Audi is always ahead of VW, don’t know, is just a thought.
Were those fast chargers? How long did it take you to charge per stop?
Couldn´t agree more. Pepsi Max is important on a road trip :)
Extremely important 😎
18:28 Forgot the summary of the charging session? 3-80 in 20 min? what was the top charging speed?
10:30 suspect it is not the charger that is the issue but the infrastructure and electricity supply that is limiting the charing speed. Sweden have a supply issue. But Love your videos as it shows how much better it is to drive a diesel car.. Fill up in 5 minutes and get 1000km range.
Yeah it’s the supply to the charging station that’s the issue I assume 😬
Diesel is great, but people have to stop claming you can do a 1000km at the speed I did here. That is just not the case 🙈
@@KrisRifa that is right there are plenty of factors that change the energy usage for both BEVs and ICE cars too many false statements of range..
00:10 I live in Hamburg:D
I think the reason that you have to push the connector in at beginning to make it start charging is not a communication problem. CCS requires constant communication while charging since the car tells the charger how many amps it wants, thats why you can also see soc on the chargers screen. The heavy cable probaly pulls on the connector and prevents it from locking due to tight tolerances.
Anway thats my guess.
if you look at the CCS connector you will see that there is a hole on top of it, thats where the locking pin goes, hence you have to apply pressure to the top.
Handshake happens through the top connectors (CCS port). Different cars have different tolerance for errors in the protocol. The larger the the gap (because how the connectors are designed and wear, as well as the weight of the cable pulling on the connector) the larger the error in communication. It is correct that all other communication happens through the 3-fase port. Water cooled cables are heavier and therefor pull more on the connector and will fail more frequently, I see this every day. This is what has been explained to me buy engineers who work with these chargers, as well from the automakers 😊
@@KrisRifa , SMNPHT is right that comminication on the CP pin must work continiously. It is in fact safety critical for this to work throughout the charging session as the car will command voltage from the DCFC and if too high voltage is commanded it can result in catastrophic failure of the battery (I.e. a fire). So any interruption of communication during charging will result in a failed charging session as doing anything else would be incredibly dangerous. Hence we are missing a good explanation on why added pressure on the connector during the pre-charging phase when added pressure during charging does not appear to matter. A failure to engage the mechanical cable lock can certainly be that explanation, but this should be explored.
@@sbrubak there is no missing explanation, I just explained why the top pins have to be in close contact while handshake. It’s not more complicated, and once the pins are locked you can usually tug on the connector without it stopping to fail 👍 Different cars have different tolerances in the protocol.
@@KrisRifa , I seem not to have been clear. We know that a charging session cannot continue without constant communication. Applying pressure only during the start of a session cannot affect communication during the session. The locking pin does to my knowledge not apply any inwards pressure on the connector it just prevents the connector to be removed. So there are two things to establish: Does in fact in a statistically significant way the act of applying pressure to the connector during the start of charging prevent aborted initializations? And if so what is the root cause. I find a failure of the locking pin to engage to be more likely than communication failure as even the PP pin (which would be the first to disconnect) is ~10mm long. Even if the pins do not mate fully, that is an awful lot of gap needed before the pin would disengage.
For an end user it might not matter all that much what the root cause of the potential problem is, but establishing it is useful to give feedback to manufacturers.
Als if we establish that it is the locking pin engagement which is the problem then an user can learn to wait for the sound of the locking pin which might happen earlier.
9:45 there's a QR code to share your experience. Did you send feedback about the poor speeds?
That "error Charging" notation is going to be the reason for SMASHED EV charge stations around the GLOBE. Imagine being stuck at a charge station with NO Chargers that work and NO near buy HOTEL and you have a meeting in the morning at 9:30...hahahaha
👍😎👍!
Funny to think that 150kW charging speed now is viewed as slow on these high end cars
It seems alot of the VAG group cars have issues 'communicating' with chargers... Otherwise great car Kris :)
Given that VW are a large shareholder in Ionity it crazy that they don't have "plug and charge".
@@gordonf1997 It's much the same in the USA apparently with the 'Charge America' they also paid towards!
Never go down on Pepsi max! 😂
good to know ionity also fails like EA.
16:56 Kris, Bjørn showed Handshake comparison times in the Kempower video:
ua-cam.com/video/pTYqLNQ4RW4/v-deo.htmlm55s
Very interesting and it confirms your findings.
For how much this car cost. It should atleast drive 600km
Having to manually hold the charging cable in a 150.000€ German build car to get it to charge...? *laughs in Tesla* 😅
Has nothing to do with the car, and all to do with the connector. So laugh as much as you want 🙈🙈
@@KrisRifa in the past two years I've never experienced it on the Phoenix plugs nor heard about the issue before, so I just assumed it was the car. But sorry, it was a cocky comment and I know this is why people hate Tesla owners.
*Fredericia :D
Isn’t that what I said? 🙈
@@KrisRifa Im just teasing you :D You have typo in the excel sheet.
Will you be at the NIO House Opening in Norway. Also...can you buy a car in Norway and drive it legally to Germany?
Would have been more informative if more time spent on the car details and less on the charging.
What do you mean? This is a trip that covers charging and travel time. I have like three reviews on the Audi E-Tron GT on the channel already 😊
😂 @ charging on CCS. Too many problems and not getting the speed you should be able to get. Pathetic.
And they all claim Tesla is poor quality and underperforms... 😂
@Ferdi Posh My point is Tesla CCS doesn't have the same shameful need to press in on the plug when initiating a charging session. ;)
@@martin3316 With my Model 3 (2021) I also have to hold the connector sometimes at a SuC for a short time to get the charging started. No big deal to me!
@@frans1522 , my point is more about that charging standard than any specific vehicle which uses that standard.
@@martin3316 ok, I understand. There is still some work to do in this respect.
Pepsi diet... Not sure if I would survive this... Drive carefully Kris.
PepsiMax 💩.
