It's wild that Lewis over the past decade and a half has gone from an awkward, kind of normal dude to this unhinged master of timing and humor that he is now. I love how committed to the bit he always is, even if something isn't funny he is going to invest in it until it becomes funny.
@@bencecserkuti7110 My fav Lewis character has got to be Ameebo from their Star Wars: Edge of the Empire series; that was chaotic unhingedness incarnate.
I really wonder how much of Malachi's character was planned and how much was improvised. His story flows so well. Best NPC in Mystery Quest history, and he's up against some stiff competition.
there was also the pilot Tom desperately hid under a rug, so I’m guessing 60% following character archetype, 30% planning between sessions, 10% pure improv magic.
I need two deep cut posters/pieces of merch made: 1) the three wolf moon but one wolf is Malachi and there are dolphins airbrushed into the night sky 2) advertisement for Dave's self defense class at the spacemall dojo
Malaki is uncertain of how the fight will end, but from his conversation with Beatrice, he is certain of one thing: Handyman is a blade stormer, and the only thing that can kill a blade stormer... Is a blade storm
Okay so i was 100% not expecting 1. Insane punji pit construction 2. For the pit to work in any way Mystery Quest is truly a mystery and a quest and a half my dude
Oh my god, this is such an amazing series. Everybody is just terrible, and I love it. But the music swelling when Malachi did his speech killed me. Amazing.
It cracks me up that Tom is able to make the most endearing npcs that everybody loves... except him 😂 Like I could listen to hours of the adventures of Jingly John or Malachi; they're such great characters! 🥰
This has definitely been the best mystery quest so far, I absolutely cannot wait for next week's episode. I've loved them all but I think something about the characters in this one and their relationships really has me invested.
Interesting. I have a few theories about what's going on. 1. The Handyman is actually some sort of spirit or something that possesses people/corpses and uses the bodies to murder people. Would somewhat explain the two instances of falling into a pit and having different voices. Not sure about the vac-suit or the vibechete getting between bodies, though. 2. Handyman is like a zombie or a slaad, turning people it injures or kills into more Handymen. Again, fits the pits as well as Handyman being in different locations at close times, but has similar issues. 3. Handyman steals the voice, form, etc. of whoever it kills most recently. Most straightforward. 4. It's an Until Dawn type situation, where Yvette was planning some spooky prank or revenge plot with a fake murderer, but then it turns out there's a real murderer. Calling out Yvette here due to her being the instigator of this trip by having the access codes, as well as the whole thing with only being really concerned when she was told her dog died. Could be misremembering or missing clues, since there's a week between episodes.
oh shit, yvette was injured, probably from the fall too. i think the other two theories would work though, he just takes them back to some closet that has spare uniforms (and machetes, i guess)
My assumption is a bit of a mixture of these, Yvette's working with someone else, the one who fell in the pit earlier and who fought Malakai, and this is some sort of revenge plot that's gone awry, either her partner has ulterior motives or it's something spooky and supernatural hijacking it, maybe spirits that possess them like you said. Her saying "we should go back and help Malakai" was trying to lead them to her accomplice to be killed, and her genuine reaction about her dog and refusing to believe them was becasue her partner in crime would have no reason to kill Mitsy, as far as she knows.
Loving this show! Also admiring the heroic feat of self-control that no one followed up "Space-Pants" with some inclusion of "An ass outta this world".
Ok, if we're not getting the traditional mystery quest intros anymore, I think we should have Malacai's journal entries for all future campaigns, like he is some omnipresent being
Mystery Quest has really confirmed my long held belief about myself, I'm not cut for this one episode a week thing, I'm really more of season in a day kind of guy After watching: MORE!! I NEED MORE!!!!
Tom is so good at comedic misdirection particularly in horror, loving this series! Another classic! Wonderful table too everyone's adding their own tropes and bits. Fantastic work Mystery Quest gang!
spoiliers for the end i hope malachi can overpower the vibechete brainwashing (i feel like that ending means it's brainwashing), and comes back as an ultrapowered katana-wielding, spacesuit-wearing heromonster
Malakai is honestly such an endearing character because yes, he's dorky and he's got this weird alpha thing but he's also a genuine good person. It's easy to vilify social deviants and it was wonderful to see this complexity.
AHH THIS IS SO GOOD! It sucks that I gotta wait till next week for the next episode, but on the other hand I have something to look forward to for next week! Also, the thumbnail art is fuckin awesome lol
You've already killed a dog. PLEASE LET MALAKAI LIVE! he is unironically the best person in that whole group. then the jock. then the dude who literally has a necklace of severed hands...
I can't wait for Malachi to come back as Malachi the White.
if anything happens to Malakai I riot
riot time
@@DaKnifeCrow dude, you're tempting fate writing comments like this
Tom absolutely NAILED the Malakai hero speech, I was grinning like an idiot the whole time
and the music, just perfect
"Jane Blood." God damn. "Bladestorm". God damn x2. This series is the best. MALACHI THE TRUE HERO!
Hey you're that guy again!
Classic rythian
Malachi turned into the best npc ever. I hope the skills he learned from Dave's Dojo see him through to the end.
Dave was in prison for killing a man with his katana skills, that’s why he was so anti “using your sword in anger”
Malakai fulfilling his Slayer Oath there.
Hope he doesn't come up short
Malachai by far the best side character yet. A real joy to experience him.
What do you mean "side character"? Dude's clearly the main protagonist.
It's wild that Lewis over the past decade and a half has gone from an awkward, kind of normal dude to this unhinged master of timing and humor that he is now. I love how committed to the bit he always is, even if something isn't funny he is going to invest in it until it becomes funny.
His commitment to the characters he plays is truly spectacular. My favourite character on the whole channel will always be the Major.
I always say Lewis has maxxed out charisma.
...which he mostly uses to convince people he has no charisma.
@@bencecserkuti7110 My fav Lewis character has got to be Ameebo from their Star Wars: Edge of the Empire series; that was chaotic unhingedness incarnate.
Malachai Noooooo!!!!! "Fear not for I am The light in Darkness"- Malachai aka GigaChad
I am so hype for the dolphins we are definitely going to see in this episode
If this RPG doesn’t end with someone seeing a dolphin, i will lose my mind 😂
Very true 😂
The killer is a dolphin
I really wonder how much of Malachi's character was planned and how much was improvised.
His story flows so well. Best NPC in Mystery Quest history, and he's up against some stiff competition.
I'm betting he hard a caricature in his head and improved nearly all of it. Even the dolphins.
there was also the pilot Tom desperately hid under a rug, so I’m guessing 60% following character archetype, 30% planning between sessions, 10% pure improv magic.
Luckily for Malachi beings of pure light can never truly die
I need Malachai merch. The best character of Mystery Quest yet.
I need two deep cut posters/pieces of merch made: 1) the three wolf moon but one wolf is Malachi and there are dolphins airbrushed into the night sky 2) advertisement for Dave's self defense class at the spacemall dojo
Tilly you are a being of pure light, Malachi's hero moment was peak
Everytime it frames over to Lewis, I think the freaking hand is Lewis just holding his hand up like he's asking a question and no one addresses it.
Malaki is uncertain of how the fight will end, but from his conversation with Beatrice, he is certain of one thing: Handyman is a blade stormer, and the only thing that can kill a blade stormer... Is a blade storm
As ever tom makes the side character waaaaay too compelling that the party refuses to let them go bhahahahaha
I was wishing for Malakai to cry out in the darkness "There can only be one" for the nerd he is ❤️
I was waiting for "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"
Okay so i was 100% not expecting
1. Insane punji pit construction
2. For the pit to work in any way
Mystery Quest is truly a mystery and a quest and a half my dude
I love Malachai he's hilarious 😂
Oh my god, this is such an amazing series. Everybody is just terrible, and I love it. But the music swelling when Malachi did his speech killed me. Amazing.

I love lewis facepalming for like a full minute while they made a pit hahaha
The legend of Malachi will live on forever.
Malachai the audience insert gave a really good speech. I like to imagine after they ran off he said "Ugh, you shall not pass, gosh."
This has definitely been the best mystery quest so far, I absolutely cannot wait for next week's episode. I've loved them all but I think something about the characters in this one and their relationships really has me invested.
I cried with laughter over Malachai. What an epic series this has been!
These are actually saving me so much, started a job as an underground drillers offsider and I look forward to these so much. Thank you Tom.
it's crazy that he actually set up chekhov's tshirt earlier on
Malachi really stole the show 😂 I hope even if the party dies, he survives.
We ain't seen a body!
This is one of the best things I’ve seen. Malachi has taken this to a whole other level. He needs his own series 😂
Oh my lord it's so funny! You can imagine a *tips-fedora when Malakai was following his destiny

I reckon there's gas that's causing extreme hallucination in everyone, like with the rumour about the gas making everyone crazy.
I still think its robots that are doing this
#4 + gas, yes.
(Until Dawn x Man of Medan)

Absolutely brilliant characters. I wish these episodes were way longer.
Ok, if we're not getting the traditional mystery quest intros anymore, I think we should have Malacai's journal entries for all future campaigns, like he is some omnipresent being
And rename the channel to Malakai Quest
I love the "Do a classic horror trope, get a benny" thing. I'll have to nick that for my next session.
I love these videos so much. Thanks for doing them and showcasing more of the offbeat rpg systems! (They all deserve the extra love).
literally just finished a different Mystery Quest,
and instantly I have another!
it's a good day
This gotta be one of the best mystery quest campaigns yet
Malakai is the greatest character in the history of fiction
Doing my part to boost the video. Best way to start a weekend!
Mystery Quest has really confirmed my long held belief about myself, I'm not cut for this one episode a week thing, I'm really more of season in a day kind of guy
After watching: MORE!! I NEED MORE!!!!
I learned that from One Piece
This is incredibly relatable
Tom, you beautiful bastard. Thanks for committing to the bit- getting some serious chuckles!
Toms face at 1:00:48 after the dolphin call is priceless!
I can't wait for Malakai the hero to save the day
I am so excited to see our katana loving champion on his dolphin quest!
Im loving the edge lord malachi thumbnail.
Tom is so good at comedic misdirection particularly in horror, loving this series! Another classic!
Wonderful table too everyone's adding their own tropes and bits. Fantastic work Mystery Quest gang!
Malachi needs his own spin off
we appreciate the thumbnail
Malakai is a Space Warrior! Sensei Dave would be proud!
Very surprised Beatrice didn’t manage to shoot Malachi in the back during all that
spoiliers for the end
i hope malachi can overpower the vibechete brainwashing (i feel like that ending means it's brainwashing), and comes back as an ultrapowered katana-wielding, spacesuit-wearing heromonster
Malachi's mom is the mom mentioned in the most recent Triforce episode, who had a bit of a "line" at her kid's house party.
I believe in Malakai! He will come back!
I would be completely fine with shoehorning malachai into every episode from here on out
MALACHAI NOOOOOOOO
MALACHAI YES
A Chosen appearance is the *last* Yogscast/Smosh crossover I expected, but I am HERE for it
Half of the table fell into some sort of rift that changed all of their outfits!
every episode is a real blast with this whole cast
m'chete
*Spoilers*
I guess in the end the Lone Wolf in Malakai was stronger than the Leader of the Pack.
The true alpha would sacrifice itself for the pack! (But no body = he ain't dead yet!)
I love Malachi ❤
Malakai is honestly such an endearing character because yes, he's dorky and he's got this weird alpha thing but he's also a genuine good person. It's easy to vilify social deviants and it was wonderful to see this complexity.
Gripping episode! This is the best Mothership content on youtube.
33:10 my favorite moment
I just love it so much that Tom.made such incredibly awesome side characters. That he had to disable or kill them off one by one. 😂
vibechete goat. tom, you're a monster. everything is perfect
We need malachi three hyperwolf tshirt merch
The thumbnail! Tom we love you!
Can't wait for episode 5 'Cranking the hog'
You cant just leave me hanging like that!
ffs, I love you guys. Hands down best rpg podcast out there.
Absolutely incredible episode.
I love how Tom rolled a crit fail for Malakai but they just decided to ignore it because Malakai is too cool lol.
Loving this series, Hilarious characters
AHH THIS IS SO GOOD! It sucks that I gotta wait till next week for the next episode, but on the other hand I have something to look forward to for next week! Also, the thumbnail art is fuckin awesome lol
Gah...this is like you guys best episode, ever! Like, totally!
Malachi is the best! 😂
Should draw a Malachi samurai 🎉🥷
What are the chances Mackay falls into the trap 😳 😆😂😆
"Gah!" --Malakai.
No idea what I’m going to do, waiting a week for the next episode 😭
Malachi’s the leader of the gang ….
"Okay, thats less good" 💀
16:34 27:04 28:48 31:14
Where were you, when Kirsten Blood's secrets were revealed?
What is this awsome dark synth you guys use when the killer is around? Sounds so cool!
Let's see how this goes!
Woooo hell yeah more mystery quest, best day ever
I love this channel.
This adventure feels a lot like a sci fi dead by daylight, and my goodness it works so well!
54:18 Ye gods, that is certainly no business of yours, good sir!
Yay he said the mystery quest
I see a Mystery Quest video, I click.
You've already killed a dog. PLEASE LET MALAKAI LIVE! he is unironically the best person in that whole group. then the jock. then the dude who literally has a necklace of severed hands...
MALAKAI NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
this is my fave episode ever xD
No not the cliff hanger I need to know more!
