Snowboarding in Furano Japan (2023) | Angie Mead King

- I missed Japan so much, it's great to be back in Furano snowboarding this time we had a new comer Xavi join us for his first time. We decided to head back to Furano 365 and rent the Chalet again like we did a few years ago and wow did we miss it! We stayed a total of 14 days but due to my accident I had a 3 day downtime plus a day of avoiding a blizzard but overall we really enjoyed it and I think my riding improved a little but the accident really did a number on me as it was so painful that I had to go to the little hospital to get the CT scan just to be sure I didn't break anything. My only main issue with Furano is the food isn't up to par for a vegan diet where everything we ate was mostly seafood for me rather than only vegetables so it was always easier for me to cook food at home. Anyway till the next adventure!

Hi, can you shed some light on how to access the off piste/sidecountry for a total newbie to furano? Is it dangerous? Easy to get lost? Ease of access and difficulty of the terrain?
There are breaks in the fence and warning signs before you enter. You can save the Japanese emergency number before you ride in. Always ride towards the base ski lift. It's relatively safe. Don't ski beside tree trunks as they have the least snow you can sink in. Some terrains are easy. Some are difficult. Best to view it from the ski lift and plot your route.
