Enjoying Sauerland with an Italian hottie, sounds like this old man’s idea of fun😉🤣. Next question, why did BMW design such a great bike with such a crap seat? My Multi has a great seat, even better with a cool cover. Bit drastic though buying a Triumph to solve an ‘arse’ issue🤪😂. Great video chaps, I’m so jealous on a cold Northumberland morning🥶👍.
It wasn't a bad idea at first to be honest! Because it was so nicely sculptured, Initially it feels very comfortable, but because it was so sculptured, you can't move around at all in the seat, which means you end up sitting all day in one position, which is never good for long runs. I didn't but the Triumph just because of arse issues, I'd buy any brand if I like it!👍😜
@@thelikeablerider8800 Nothing wrong with a Triumph, I’ve had two including an early Tiger 1200. Had a few BMWs too, sadly I enjoy twins so I bought GSs, the Triple is a great compromise engine with loads of torque and a great top end.👍
Nice vid Shaun, it's great to watch the "dynamic duo" back together :) - always a great interaction/combo. Full of giggles and super Sauerland. Love it!! :D That XR really DID ruin you 🤧 Also nice to see the one shocking (UK-esque) road we did last time has now been resurfaced back to German standard brilliance billiard table smooth... :D :D NEED to go back!!! :D :D
@@thelikeablerider8800 I've nearly rear-ended a mate on a GS with those stupid things a couple of times, and that had the "normal" tail light too (but of course, semi hidden under the top box) - not only are they dumb and hard to see, in bright sunlight the whole things cannot sometimes be seen at all, forgetting indicating, I'm talking just the brake lights alone!! :(
I lifted the leg once to give the cheek a rest and the bloody leg got a massive cramp, hurt a F#&king lot more than the butt cheek, so there I was ridding along in a big row of traffic rubbing up around my groin and bouncing around on my seat, people behind must have thought WTF, was a lovely ride.
Having a bike that fits you is so important but wrongly ends up secondary to looks and power. That seat may have broken you but just think how that seat was feeling with you sat on it for thousands of miles! 😂
Great stuff lads, oh for a country where the roads (such as they are these days...) aren't lined with impenetrable hedges and have a tractor hiding around every blind corner....😅
Yes it's older footage. These videos to get held up a fair amount, you can image how many hundreds of GB of footage we have to send each other, and then editing it all takes an eternity!
A track us pretty much a RAW file with the exact route you want to take, or have taken. A Route is typically calculated with way points and allows for differences or recalculation if you go off track. On my Garmin while using a route, it'll give you other information like, upcoming petrol stations, restaurants etc. With a track you get no information other than turn by turn prompts.
What throws me with tomtom is that you plan out your route and send it to the gps. The gps then does what it thinks to get to your way points. I just want it to follow my plan EXACTLY the way I sent it.
I've many friends that use TomTom, and they seem to have way more issues, or with way points should I say. Having said that, it's true to both brands that not placing waypoints exactly can cause you issues. Been on countless rides (not leading) where we've done so many uturns because a way point has been placed slighty off the road, so the Sat Nav thinks you haven't hit it, so turns you round. That's the beauty of following a track, it's one constant route, but like I said before you lose route information.
My buddies and I have had similar woes and whinge-fests over bloody Garmins. We too like to plan a precise route and follow it but nay says Garmin, for I know better...🧐. I've now settled on MRA with their nav app on an old phone. Great for planning on the old laptop, no transferring of files, it's just there on the app immediately. Not without the odd glitch but 10 times better than a Garshit 😂
@@NotNowCato1254 If you put plenty of "shaping points" (WayPoints IMO is not the way to do it unless it's a thing/place you actually want to GO to), then it *should* be impossible for the NAV to screw your route. You just have to have plenty of them, so it's can only recreate YOUR route. Remember a GPX file is just a series of points on the map, in an ordered list, the NAV unit still has to turn that into a route, and it has to make a gazillion "choices" about how to do that. Take those choices away with lots of shaping points, and it *should* have no choice but to recreate the route you had in mind in the first place! :) (don't forget, the routing software you use to create the route is doing the same thing too...)
@thelikeablerider8800 I see the new XR is touted as having a better seat - more room to move about. BMW were obviously aware that they dropped a bollock with your model.
I read it as ‘Exploring Sunderland’, which is why I watched.
Not far from Sunderland to some great roads😉😆
🤣I came to post the exact same thing.
Might be an interesting series👍🤣
Beautiful scenery
Garmin the bane of every riders life.
I used calimoto in Spain to find sad hill cemetery that garmin couldn't. It took moments

This ride with that bike was the last straw on deciding to get rid, that and my Scotland tour!🤦♂️
@@thelikeablerider8800 Yep - a broken TLR is of no use to anyone! ;) :(
Ok I’m sold definitely on the list looks brilliant, and where exactly was the coffee stop with Oktoberfest ladies? 😉
This is the place, but it's seems to be permanently closed......no more Busen!

And thats why the weiser techniks turn signals were put on my GS. Those standard combined lights are so stupid!
I like the look of them, but like Andy said difficult to read, but that's obviously something that I wouldn't notice.

I used to get that a lot, but not so much these days, and if so it's a nice hip cramp🤣
Brilliant as usual
Cheers Mark👍😎
Hey Shaun! You’re clearly a hat! 😊 my arse is fine on my XR! Great work mate! Love the Tiger 12, looks awesome.
Is you arse made of stone?🤦♂️😆

I definitely flattened the crap out of it!🤣🤣
Have you considered an air hawk. I fit one for long distance touring on my V4s
Yeah I've got one, but they're no fun when you're on it!
Great stuff lads, oh for a country where the roads (such as they are these days...) aren't lined with impenetrable hedges and have a tractor hiding around every blind corner....😅
That is good here, you can see pretty much everything that is oncoming with regards to traffic, plus the views are amazing in places!
It’s not a proper trip for you pair without satnav woes and a closed road 😂😂

P.S. nice to see Andy out on his Tuareg 👍
Yes it's becoming a regular thing with us🤣🤣
Great vid Shaun! So I hate my BMW connected ride app and was about the buy the Garmin XT2 - is this something I will seriously regret???
I still rate Garmin highly, a lot of the issues I've/we've had are almost certainly user error! Never had an issue on my entire Scotland tour.
@@thelikeablerider8800 thanks Shaun - reassuring!
Love it lads…but I wonder what your next bike is going to be…🤫🤫🙄🙄
Ssshhhh don't tell anyone🤫😜
XR M... with the "fixed" seat... ;)
‘weary ass meat’. classic.
Glad to see you back on the XR. I thought you had gotten rid of it a bought a Triumph 1200 tiger??
Think that could be the very definition of being behind on editing "old" footage. :D Or just a planned publish of "old" footage.
He has, old footage.
Sad the XR has gone... I came here for its content triumphs just make me want to vomit 🤢
Never heard that from anyone before about Triumph!

@thelikeablerider8800 just a personal thing never been a fan I'm sure that they are very nice to ride they just do it for me🤣
Unlike the squaddie to know there’s a knocking shop in each town 🤣🤣
I used to go for beer after hours👍😜
Sorry, haven’t been keeping track. What’s Andy riding in these vlogs?
He's on the Tuareg 660 from Aprilia👍
If thats the XR's swan song I'm sure your arse will thank you, bring on the Pro!
It's thanked me many times that I sold it👍🤣
