😛 Banish store bought rolled oats for good! 😛
as i mentioned in the video, what got me started was a small bag of heirloom oats from ansonmills. that little bag of oats changed my life and i never saw oats the same after eating it.
if you think storebought oatmeal tastes like cardboard, youre right! and thats exactly why they have to add so much sugar / artificial flavoring to make it taste good.
when you have freshly rolled oats at home, they're full of natural nutty and oaty flavor which in my experience is completely absent from the store bought kind.
    don't believe me?
find out for yourself and roll your own, or if you want, try starting with ansonmills one and you'll know what i mean!🤪

☝tips for the best tasting rolled oats (for granola, baking, and more!)
    1. stop buying rolled oats!! and especially instant oatmeal or quick cooking oatmeal! with freshly rolled oats, you'll notice how much more flavor oats can have and may never look at oats the same!
    2. after rolling the oats, use immediately. the protective outer coating will have been broken and the oils and nutrients will start to deteriorate
    3. toast your freshly rolled oats on the stove for additional flavor
    4. aside from oatmeal, use for granola, other breads and baked goods and even homemade oat flour!
    5. get organic and or nongmo oat groats if possible, try different brands as they taste different! (see links below)
🤔 have you tried freshly rolled oats yet? and if so whatd you think? and if you haven't yet, are you a little bit curious now?

I eat steel cut oats. But maybe someday, I will see about getting one of these. Looks like fun!

Came across your video because I love oatmeal and when I heard they use glyphosate to keep the oats that are in storage from getting moldy I decided to learn about processing my own. I saw this machine but think it is nice but overpriced. The problem I have with the flakers on the market is they tear the oat in the process. Before investing in a flaker, I'm going to try processing them in my pasta roller. The rollers are smooth and I can adjust the thickness to see what works and what doesn't. One Marga owner filed down the grooves on his rollers to keep them from damaging the oat as it flakes it.

Hello Anza. Thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, I agree. For oats to have a longer storage life, it has to be preserved. Sometimes, the preservatives they use are not good for our body.
So are you using you pasta roller for now? How did it go?

If you don't like the stain, perhaps sand it down and stain it the colour you want? Its only wood...

Thanks for the review. It would have been nice to see it in action. Do you normally soak them before running them through the machine?

Nope, I never did that, you can watch it here on how I use the flaker ua-cam.com/video/NlmYFE0ZR9Q/v-deo.html

I imagine like most grains, storing whole oats would be preferable and last longer in storage from a prepper point of view. I would also like to take a look at the manual option.

Can I use and insert into it oats and grains that have been previously soaked? I ask because I wash and soak cereals before eating them, to eliminate impurities and anti nutritional substances in them. Thanks

    • @alldayieatlikeashark
      @alldayieatlikeashark  4 роки тому +1

I haven't tried it yet but maybe it will work. You can adjust your Komo to make the flakes thinner. But if your concerns is about impurities, you might tried to soaked it first and see the result or try to soaked if after then use a filter. I hope this will help.

I have a Komo stone mill! I use it for milling my regenerative wheat berries into flour! I need this flocman! I know you said you use organic...have you considered sourcing regenerative grains for increased nutrient content and planet health?

Thank you for the video!! I agree with you that the design is odd and too spacey that bothered me too..I didn't know the oats could be rolled into different thicknesses. So flocman .."Flocken" means flakes in German. So maybe they thought it would be cool to call it Flakeman :-D

I went to Anson Mills’ website and could not find oat groats. Suggestions?

Hey Gary because they are a mill they don’t provide whole oats/grains; You may wanna give them a call and ask them if they would be able to send you some but otherwise they do have their toasted oats that are available and that’s what I talked about on the video

You've got to be kidding. 12 minutes of video and you never even turned it on? I wasn't looking for a video extolling the benefits of fresh oats; you're preaching to the choir. I wanted to see the machine operate, examine its output, see the mechanism, get a sense of cleaning and maintenance, etc.
This was not, as advertised, a review of the equipment. Very disappointed.
