Worse is that some family members abuse the use of the 4-wheeled mobility scooters which are meant for the old folks or someone who is not so mobile. Most of the time I saw young ones who are mobile using it. This happened in Greenridge Shopping Centre. These people riding it think they have the right of way. Really afraid that somebody will be hurt if they didn’t slow down for pedestrians. A family member was hurt by the person riding the PMD while waiting for the clinic to open. That man just disappeared after knocking into her. She was traumatized by the incident thereafter. If everyone rides with care and observe safety, less accidents will happen. Walking on the pavements can be fearful and risky esp the riders don’t alert us from behind. They just brush their way through. Something needs to be done to deter irresponsible riders/users.
agreed, even the "plaza" in front of yew tee MRT/ Yew tee Point / Shopping centre as well as the ways into the area are often such "minefields". often the knack-heads rides at speed, and expect you to get out of the way for them.
LTA & TP are part to be blame for this! But they are too cowards to come forward to take responsibility! 😤😠😡🤬 they jus turn blind eyes to a real problem!

Not enough enforcement is been done on the ground hence they are getting bold. Hope LTA does more night checks as they appear more bodly at nighttime.

Personally, I'm afraid that these riders who don't care for their own safety and expect others to look out for them might get into an accident with my elderly folks who drive and don't have fighter-pilot like reaction time. In the end I believe the car driver will still be blamed. Is that fair?

LTA and TP is just waiting for a major accident to take action. Riding across red light is not just observed on PMD but also road cyclist ... For the past years, this has been happening but nothing is done... The authority are just playing the waiting game... Sad but true.

I have seen a lot of PMD on the road late at night sometimes carrying a pillion the bike is so small if you are in the car you hardly see them!
I live in khatib and it's common to see PMD and PAB users on walkways. Was hit twice. Often I see child on ride too. I think it's too risky to allow that.

Low summon issue is bec Traffic officers do not operate in middle of the nite or early morning. It is usually this timing errand modified PMD users like to operate.
Its always has been and are these kids who have access to these devices. I personally had one PMD before and it was indeed useful to get around with, But too bad irresponsible people spoil market for those who actually follow the rules.
because they like to go fast? they like the adrenaline? the tuning? it's expensive to get into cars, or go-karting, or other sports that give the same adrenaline. furthermore being able to tinker and work on these stuff could help the person learn a skill set. there's no outlet for them to just express their creativity and just have fun. everything is restricted, banned, or have a fine

I've encountered these riders on my last RIR. Was just past Yishun Dam going towards Punggol side, same thing, no helmet and speeding. It was in the middle of the night, around 3+ AM, and some of them suddenly shouted loudly, scaring some of my group mates. These behaviours must stop. Just wear a helmet, get your lights on and be safe and considerate.

Go on footpaths? Obviously? You have to understand that not all bikes are fast and not all bike's battery is big and long lasting. And do you know how slow is 25km/h on the road? Have you rode an ebike before? How long are you going to take to slowly pedal 25km/h to the customer's house? And some places example town only have one way roads, are you going to waste half of your battery to just make one u turn? When you type do you understand both sides of the story? Or you just care for your own safety?
@@meng_the_monkey why is a footpath called a footpath...ask yourself that. It is a place where children and elderly should feel safe, but most PMD riders go too fast on footpaths n shared paths, make no effort to slow down. All PMDs should be banned from footpaths, no other way.

I only see enforcement officer early morning, busy stopping aunties and uncles on bicycles going to work or market. At night zero officer. This are e time mostly hooligans riders out to play. I think it's e same all over singapore.

The number of notices may not reflect the state of errant riders leh it just reflects the amount of enforcement. Everyday I still see YPs on PABs on the pedestrian sidewalks. Its hard to enforce the current rules we have so that's why they still risking it, currently the probability is really most wont get caught one. We need to license up the PABs. like COE, wanna buy PAB etc first go for road safety course, get license then can buy, if caught have lifetime ban, jail time and rotan on the line. See if they still dare to risk it.

PAB/PMD are just like motorcycles but just smaller... Should be licenced like a motorcycle... Attend a driving school, get a riding licence, buy insurance, demit points and fines etc.
This is what happened when government don't encourage private transportation ownership price as high as sky rocket to able to run a car and motorcycle.

@@PrograError doesn't change the fact they ride incredibly recklessly. As a pedestrian I can confidently say they're a bigger hazard than cars. Most don't bother stopping at zebra crossings or traffic lights and have nearly crashed into me on numerous occasions.

PMD riders will be and will still be there. Why ? Our competent LTA enforcers are going all out together only for 1 goal/purpose. Which is to catch tinted car windows. They can deploy a whole team and wait outside a neighbourhood road entry just to stop any cars that’s passing by with tinted windows.
In conclusion, that is LTA main job. They have nothing else left to do. Tinted windows are very dangerous and which is why probably their higher management creates a quota for all LTA officers.
So remember, no other things are more important than a car tinted windows okay ?
always check left and right when ur exiting hdb lift at ground floor/ pillar blind spots, got hit once by a speeding ebike when i exit the lift and got cut on the leg as he fails to brake. seriously cant imagine a toddler kena hit by that impact.. many irresponsible and reckless riders on the go. stay safe guys

The authorities can come up with all the rules and regulations in the world. But enforcement always fall short. Smoking and vaping regulations is another good example. No enforcement at all. What's the point?

It will be very much appreciated if LTA could enact & enforce the following regulations to safeguard the safety of pedestrians:
(1) all PMDs, motorized bicycles, and manual bicycles are banned from riding along and/or pedestrian footpaths including those along road side tables and make it mandatory to dismount and push their vehicles.
(2) all PMDs, motorized bicycles, and manual bicycles are banned from riding across all pedestrian crossings. Make mandatory to dismount and push their vehicles.
(3) Defaulters of the aforesaid will be banned from riding PMDs, motorized bicycles and manual bicycles for life.
(4) mandatory for delivery companies to buy accident insurance policies for delivery riders and to pay compensation commensurate to the degree of injury suffered plus loss of income to victims of accidents arising from delivery riders’ defaults. (5) In event of death of victims, the defaulting culprit to be jailed for at least 5 years.

Your recommendation are gd but the problem that the authorities face is how to catch and impose fine on PMD user when they break the traffic rules 24/7. Is unlike car and motorbike which have a big licence plate which is easy to summon if they break any traffic rules by use of camera installed on all rd. And PMD user also know what they can't be caught base on this...even they have a licence plate now is useless too bec is so small that hardly can be seen by we driver on the rd. The only way is compulsory installation of a tracking device on all approved PMD that if they caught speed or beating a traffic light a summon will be sent to them and demerit point be deducted just like all licence rd users do.

I see alot of PAB riding very fast , never wear helmets , never obey the traffic lights , rushing to make more Grab food deliveries. I see that PABs can ride almost as fast as e scooters. What's the point of implementing ban on e scooters but allowing e bicucles ? And where are the enforcement officers ???
Just put to a stop. Cease all PMDs with immediate effect. Go through the proper channels and procedures by taking license at driving school centre and go through theory and practical lessons. They need to go thru the hard way / hardship to obtain the license.
We cant let this happen all the time wiith their neglections/reckless riding on the road with no proper PPE. Once accident happen and there's major fatal occured, the time cant be rewind / undone.

What's being done to catch errant drivers who are too busy on their phones while driving? They overtake and didnt see me while overtaking till they nearly crush me while turning left/right? Only panic when i sound off and they really had no idea i was there so what were they even looking at while driving.
Believe me, while there are errant cyclists everywhere, drivers are way more dangerous and reckless. Overtaking a cyclist only to turn immediately to save 2 seconds of his time while risking the lift of a cyclist. Turning, use phone, drive straight, use phone. Bloody parking also need to use phone if there's something on the phone that's too important please stop somewhere and get it done first.

Well, nearing the last election period, one of many such as myself that bought our E scooters from legal establishments such as CK Tangs were asked to apply for permit n license plate which I complied. Following that shortly they told me to surrender my ride at a community centre. One which I bought for almost SGD 2k. There was an uproar within the community by many that were affected, I wrote in but I guess they were too confident and arrogant to even look seriously into the issue I stated about. They had a solid line up in my opinion of candidates. An ex Air Force pilot and an eye doctor. They were confident and well they lost to the opposition. Bottom line is, the rich don’t need you to listen cos they have their solutions to most things, the lower income have most of your attention most of the times, it so happen that our community consisted of many middle income that slogged and when we needed a listening ear, some grace and understanding…… gosh u have no idea….. they even set up an appointment to visit and stood us up.

You cant keep using the argument that there are good people who will abide and practice social graciousness. "Dismount and push" signs rarely work unless there is someone situated there to keep reminding the pmd riders/cyclists.

Don’t blame the riders because mostly are uneducated illiterate or their IQ are still yet to develop. Blame it on our transport ministry and LTA , it been proven multiple times Singapore is not ready to share the road with these roaches or pests yet but they fail to listen. I remembered one of the minister arrogantly criticized most drivers are selfish and not prepare to give way or be more tolerant. So the best way to made them listen is to use our vote to talk with them just like 2011 when Aljunied GRC was gun down and 2 of their “super stars” got the boot , one of the main reason was the immigrant issues . The results show it works as later on obtaining a PR was like a mission impossible unless you are some special talent.
