This is the movie that i remembered watching as a little girl.... then, years later, my son was born. Something was so wrong, but no one could tell me what. And God put this movie on my heart. I had only seen this once, years ago... but I taught my older children all I could remember... and we did the "games" every day.... over and over. When he was 3, the school tried to tell me he had autism... no.... I would not believe them. We kept working! Then I took him to a specialist, and he said I had "bridged" him over that, and no longer showed any signs of autism! Somehow, the touching, and movements, and games we played brought him back to us. His first sentence was "Happy Birthday Baby Jesus!" Then, 2 years later, God took him home in a tragic accident. I have wondered if I would ever see Kenny's movie again, and today, I found it here. God used this movie, to help my son. Thank you for posting it. And God Bless.
Fran Barry Such an amazing testimony. I'm so sorry for the loss of your son but glad to know you were able to reach him. I am watching this movie now on Amazon Prime. I've never heard of it till now.
@Fran Barry Yes honey,. God does put circumstances in our lives to help teach us how to deal with the different paths we are to travel. You Are an Incredible Mama and May God Bless You and Your Loved Ones. {{{Hugs}}}
I saw it when it first aired also. I never forgot about it. We all are capable of more than we give ourselves credit for. One does not need a Ph.D to know how to help someone. I know about the Son-Rise Program but did not know it was the family of this boy who founded it. There are no words one can say when a parent has lost a child, except to remember the wonderful times you had together.
I have an Autistic son, and without knowing about the Son rise program, naturally used it anyway. Time in, not time out. Entering into his world before expecting him to enter ours. He only had 14 consistent words at 3 yrs... Called me Mama finally after getting into therapy. Now, he's 9, and he is reading and writing! And he's musical, and such a dancer!!! ❤

that lady at the end who says he wasn't born perfect.. my son has cerebral palsy he doesn't walk talk or even sit up and he is almost 8 years old but my son is perfect disability or not!!
I'm Autistic, and I don't wanna ever be anything else. it's part of me, I'm not always happy about it, life isn't easy, but then, would it be any easier or better, without my Autism, I very much doubt that. Even if it were, easier doesn't mean better, or more fulfilling, worthy. As for the Actor, who plays Raun, just wish there were more opportunities for Autistic Actors. For Autistics to have meaningful careers, in general. I'm an Autistic Performance Artist, and it's still nigh on impossible, to get Work, at times. It's not an easy industry to break into, anyhow, but especially, if you're Disabled, in some way. Rather than changing or pitying us, support us to understand ourselves better, help the world to be more accepting and inclusive of everyone's differences and empower us to be the very best that we can, as ourselves, Disabled, and all. Give us proper training and education and support to live independently and form good, healthy relationships and give us interviews, for Jobs, let us show you what we can really do, cause I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised, and more often than not, literally blown away, by our potential, if you allow us those chances! XxXx XxXx XxXx XxXx
I'm also neurodivergent, and a mother to 15 year old autistic twin girls. I attended the start-up program with the help of their scholarship in 2011. I think when this movie was made, there was a great emphasis put on this program about the possibility of 'reversing' or 'curing' autism. There are times when intervention has had such an impact, that the criteria for a diagnosis is no longer met. I think that most commonly happens when certain diets remove the side effects of some kind of intolerance. It doesn't always create these changes. I don't think my intention with any treatment I have considered was ever to take my children's autism away. I sincerely admire my daughter's memory, and hunger for knowledge and understanding. Her twin sister is pure of heart, and her joy is absolutely contagious. What I want is the same things anyone wants for their children. For them to experience a fulfilling life, and be able to cope with the world around them. I want them to have the skills to advocate for themselves, know when to seek support and where to find it, and to be in tune with themselves so that they can navigate their days as comfortably as possible. Utilizing things such as earphones and fidgets.
Wonderful movie! It showed that parents do know MORE than unfeeling, uncaring doctor's who think they know best. Missy Francis who later played Cassandra Cooper/ Ingalls on Little House was fantastic!
When people were just learning about Autism Drs tried to say it was a lack of parenting, coldness toward the child and some sort of neglect that caused the Autism. I think that was why the doctors kept asking them all kinds of questions. Of course Autism has isn't caused by parental neglect. We know that now. However, we didn't then.
God bless you both... thanksfor sharing this movie... it gives me some hope....and positivity... nothing is impossible..... love, care, acceptance , dedication and believe in god, blessings is the only key.... its the only miracle .. thankyou
Read the book The author wrote and saw the film.I must admit I was very deceived by the film compared to the very powerfull book of Barry Neil Kaufman. The film is however transmitting a general idea of the enormeous work The Kaufman's couple did withTheir son.Would suggest one should read the book!
Ithink this movie is what people need to see through the eyes of an autistic child or adults as well because i know what its like to this familys pain of having to deal with all kinds of critizizum from doctors which i know first on this isue i went through the same thing their critics every where in the world who are going to tell you what you are doing wrong or right .there needs to be empathetic and eqaulity for normal people that just dont get itat all .Iknow lots of psyciotrist are stupid and very inpatent with an individual with autisum they that modified approuch I think that is punishiable way of dealing with a child who displays this autistic behavier you shouldnt judge autistic disordebehaveir as bad or good i think the pe0ple should let the person chose when the child is ready on his or her own time no presure the child on moving forward for cure , there is no knotwn cure right now at this point maybie in the near future all there is right now is medication i know first hand on how this makes me feel Iam on the autisum spectrum high functioning .Iwish more people would think before opening their big mouth it makes me very mad because its the child that the one that suffers the most not parents .
They had to make some allowances for this film....Raun was just seventeen months old when the Kaufmans formulated this program. I believe I read that the child actor here was about five years old. Again, an understandable allowance as you cannot make a child not even a year and a half old, fake autism. He did a remarkable job. Barry Kaufman even commended the kid for it. The Kaufmans did not cease working with their son until he was four years old. He had made remarkable progress in the first six or seven months, and it was even suggested that his parents could taper off the program. They couldn't, because they realized that, even though he had developed to within the normal range for a child his age, learning each skill took critical concentration and effort....things that other children just "pick up" as they go along. By age four, they realized that their son could thrive completely on his own.
Thank you so much I now no how i may able to reach my autism child in way I never thought it would be possible ever I now know at lest how to try to reach him thanks who ever made that move GOD BLESS YOU
Sandy, I would recommend you read the book Son-Rise, the Miracle Continues as well. And another book called Dibs, In Search of Selfby Virginia Axline. Other good read are books by Torey Hayden who was a teacher and worked with children with autism. All the best for the future for you and your child
@@jerney4974 Dibs in Search of Self is a joke. He didn't have autism to begin with, and the medical community came down hard on his parents for being, as they saw it, "refrigerator parents" who caused his condition. Oh, the story happened (report written from recorded sessions), but "Dibs" did not have autism and Play Therapy belongs where it belongs...not to cure kids with autism.

This movie should be shared and made available in every school system in America. So people with Autistic Children, and people who work with them can view it. I worked as a School bus aide for 16 years. I remember seeing it on Starz, movies like this the Boy in the Plastic Bubble, Bang The Drum Slowly all have an educational value. These movies should also be Free on UA-cam.

The parent in this movie has lots of patient and acceptance. This is what we need for autism, be understanding and accepting.

Debby Boone sings this song.
Here are the lyrics:
There's love hidden deep
In the warmth of your eyes
I wish I could know what you see
Do you paint your rainbows
With colors unknown
Must you be so alone
Is there room in your world for me
Are there feelings worth showing
Are there secrets worth knowing
Will the miracle of love set you free
Is there room in your world for me
I wait by the window
With my only dream
And long for the day
There will be
The sound of your laughter
The gift of your touch
Oh I love you so much
Is there room in your world for me
There's hope in my heart
When I look in your eyes
Now I think I know what you see
Remember those rainbows
You painted alone
We will make them our own
When there's room in your world for me

This movie made me cry showed the true struggles we face every day and get dissapointed
The original FORD Broncos were the best ones ever built!
WAOOO MOVIE TOUCHED MY HEART..
It worked the same for me.
Well hey I'm happy for you it's a process it's possible
Such a wonderful movie! Praise God!
God has NOTHING to do with this.
@@mothergoose9383Every life comes from God so how come God has nothing to do with this? I praise God for your life.

Thanks for uploading this movie. Now I can help my child to come out from his autistic world.
O amor transforma!!!!!!lindo
