  • In this DIY video Community Herbalism student Rosemary Mackey shares her favorite ways to utilize the leaves and berries of one of her favorite plants. The berries are filled with antioxidants and have a long history of use for jellies and syrups. The leaves make a decent bug repellent. Thank you for making this video. I love the Beautyberry plant and am lucky enough to have several growing wild in my yard. Is there a better time of year to use the leaves that would make the salve more effective as a bug repellent?

I find the summer months when the plant is full of leaves is the best time to harvest the leaves
