Okay so i have an idea but im not sure how well itll work. A lot of air defense systems use multiple radars, a search and a track radar, the search radar is usually really big and can see very far and will rotate 360° to effectively search for targets. Tracking radars are usually smaller but look directly at the target to maintain a lock semi-permenantly (semi because chaff/notching makes it lose lock but thats probably not simulated but check cuz it would be cool if it was). This allows the entire system to look at everything in the air and be able to maintain good track on threats. If you could make a system that uses a search radar to send data to a track radar that can hold positions or rotate in a very slim area youd then be able to send data from the tracking radar to the gun which could then maintain a track and not just get a lock when the search radar sees you. Again i dont know the nuance of the mod and im not sure how difficult itll be but it would be extremely cool. If you want to refine the idea more lmk and maybe we can get something working This is very similar to what i want to do for a living when im out of college so im very excited to see the progression of this mod
this would be fantastic, maybe in the future where they add more features and something like redstone or computercraft compatibility for this to work something that could tell a smaller tracking radar to track something after it has been detected it's very useful for fast moving targets
5:10 How do you make your cannon shot in high arches? Mine always shorts straight on target. Or are these not normal mount, chamber and barrel from Big Cannons?
I'm firing a guided fuze there, so I don't need the controllers for aiming, this is just a basic cannon that isn't connected to any radar, just the shell is
I think one of the coolest ideas you could implement would be a way to deter the tracking fuzes since they seem nearly impossible to avoid while in an aircraft. Whether or not it's full on flares or it's a different way to make the fuze go off target could potentially be a really cool way of adding interesting forms of dogfights or air-to-land combat. Since I'm not sure most players are exactly professional pilots and fly airships, maybe even a smoke screen or a radar jammer could also work just fine.
Yeah I think things like flares or chaff would be pretty decent, dev said these shell will be balanced so maybe you can avoid them with sharp turns or something too

1. after i stopped recording they added cbc math into account lol, it's not for download yet but it's pretty much ready to be released 2. don't think there is rn, probably be added someday 3. i think the only dependencies would be create and create big cannons, works with valkyrien skies but probably won't need that
@VexedPython I don't think you can connect multiple radars to 1 monitor but I'll actually have to check it tomorrow lol cuz I never tried, cannons are connected to monitors so if that works then cannons will work too But I'm 99% sure you can only have 1 radar I'll reply here after I check to confirm that (in like 13 hours)
from my testing it's technically possible because display links don't constantly update so if you time it right you can fire a display link on the screen to show 1 area for a second then another etc, targeting wise it might be wacky and it kinda breaks when rejoining the world so it's not that useful right now, i would wait and see if they add this as an option in the future
so, do the auto pitch and yaw controllers have to be directly connected to a cannon to work? and more importantly, do they work on VS2 airships? if they dont have to be directly connected and they do work on airships, i think they could be used to make ships that fly themselves towards enemies using clockwork
They do work on VS2 but some bugs need to be fixed yet like interacting with the monitor on a vs ship The auto controllers don't seem to work without a cannon but maybe you could use cc someday to read the pitch and yaw of the cannon and send that somewhere or maybe idk they will add universal controllers

Now we can be able to Make Night Attacks from Aircraft Carriers like it's June 1944 at the Marianas or even Warn the Fleet of an Incoming Japanese Air Strike. Guided Shells would be a Decent Substitute for Actual Missiles which also means that we have AIM-7 Sparrow Radar Guided Air-to-Air Missiles or even BGM-109 Tomahawk Cruise Missiles for the Gulf. Just one Question: Is there a way to Make Radars like the AN/APS-20 on the Lockheed P2V-7/P-2H Neptune Maritime Patrol Aircraft or the AN/APS-145 on the Grumman E-2C Hawkeye Airborne Warning and Control Systems (AWACS) Aircraft? What about the Magnetic Anomaly Detector (MAD) Boom on Aircraft like the Neptune, S-2B Tracker, P-3A Orion, and S-3A Viking? So many Possibilities have just been Presented and yet so much more to Explore! Definitely checking this out and keeping an eye out for it's Development! Uh, a MAD is a different type of detection probably won't be included in the mod but all the others I'm pretty sure you will be fine, if you want you can always just not move the radar to track a static area for fighters n stuff
would there be a way to like automatically track any entity and automatically fire at the entity without ANY player input? i maybe understand how to load the cannons w/ deployers (i've never experimented with cbg or anything war-based in create) but for targeting im not sure

Quoting one of the developers: "This is planned. The yaw controller will control the physics bearing. The pitch controller would need to be mounted on the cannon mounts" the pitch could be implemented as a physics bearing too, we'll see the mod is developing at a pretty steady pace right now so it hopefully won't take that long
@abrams11 If I haven't read it wrong, when I click on the launcher screen link, Minecraft consumes all the 15 GB RAM I gave it (note, I do not use any performance enhancers such as sodium optifine). In the log files, the physics part is overloaded, so it crashes. How can we solve this?
Could it be given a filter , like for example if i make a filter and out on it my name the radar won't make the guns target me but all other players , and if I add other names those ppl won't be targeted too , or make it not attack passive mobs and if i tag a certain mod it won't target the mobs added by it, for example if i added a filter for @minecolonies:colonist it wouldn't shot at any of the colonists but it would still pick up the raiders
automatic target picking and area denial are planned for the future, right now you have to select a target manually i'll add this as a suggestion for the devs to make filters and what not
*btw I noticed that the larger the radar, the slower it spins (even at 256 RPM), so you should also take that into account*

Automatic targeting is planned and being added, the devs already got the UI for that as I saw in their discord
