- This video will show you how to replace or change the battery in your 2007-2017 Ford Expedition. Easy do-it-yourself auto repair.
Changing the battery on your Ford Expedition is not as hard as it looks, and can be serviced with simple hand tools. You should replace the battery on your vehicle every 5-6 years as a preventative maintenance measure. That is the typical life-cycle of a normal battery.

One thing after installing the battery, and starting the vehicle, DON'T drive anywhere just yet. after 5 min run/charging time, shut vehicle off and let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes. It will give the ECM of the Transmission time to reset, and link back up to the Engine ECM. Otherwise, the vehicle wont shift right when driving. You will get 1st gear and 2nd, but that's it. Let the vehicles computers time to reset 15 - 30 min, 30 min preferred. Everything should be good to roll after that, other than the clock and favorite radio stations you have to re do.

@HomeOwnerRepair I need assistance I have a new battery that needs to be reinstalled but the hold down is holding me back for so long could you tell me what specific tools to take it out please?
You should be able to remove it as shown in the video. What is holding you back, can you not get the screw out?
Do you know how to turn off anti theft if you can’t turn on the vehicle. My anti theft came on but I’m not able to turn it off due to vehicle not being able to start something is wrong with it. I hit a hard bump and it just shut up and won’t turn back on. Then the anti theft turned on next day and been unable to turn it off.

I would start with the simple things first. You may want to remove the battery cables clean the battery cable ends with a wire brush along with the battery terminals. If they battery is 5 years old you may want to replace in incase it is throwing a spike. Was the truck running fine before this happened?
What size did you use to get the bolt out?

@@HomeOwnerRepair thanks man one more thing i replaced a throttle body but still hav the wrench icon, i tryed the break n gas paddle down for 30 secs n the engine light went off but when i started the truck tye wrench is still there n the truck still runs the same

my bolt holding down the battery isnt budging...
You can try to spray it with some penetrating oil such as PB blaster.
My battery is just over 2 years old. I went on a three week trip and came back to find the battery dead, reading 9.6 volts on my voltmeter. Recharged it but it won't hold a charge. Dropping it down to below 12 volts damaged it. Dang! I was told not to disconnect a battery on 3rd gen Expys because it might damage sensitive electronic and you'd have to reset them all. I guess that was WRONG!

@@HomeOwnerRepair Not yet. I’m testing for phantom current draw thinking that might be my problem. If the current draw checks out ok, then battery replacement may be next.
