Mike Hedding you are such a great teacher and banjo player! While I'm "senior and slower learner" I continue to make progress watching you. Keep up the fabulous work and thank you so much for sharing your talent!
I am only 1 min 35 sec into this video and I've already hit the "like" button and saved it to my "Music Instruction" playlist for continued study. THIS is the tutorial I've been looking for!!--one that begins with no talking; instead just demonstrating. Only 2 minutes in, and you have clearly demonstrated the different rhythmic feels between the rolls, plus the "boom chick" vamp. Thank you!! I had been searching for a video tailored to beginners that named the rolls as I was listening to them--rolls played back to back, in time, along with a lead track, without pauses for verbal instruction. Such good work, Mike.
Sounds so good. The picking is stellar, and the banjo tone is about the best I've can remember. I've played 2 finger things I.'ve learned this makes me want to learn how to open up my banjo. This banjo sounds so good of course he knows how to open it up.
