My theory on Fairy Godmother's death is that she did not intend to kill Shrek or Fiona. She believed that being an ogre was a fate worse than death, so she was casting a spell to remove her magic from them. When it struck Harold instead, he turned back into a frog because of this. But since Fairy Godmother is made up of her own magic, she erased herself from existence.
Pretty solid theory but I believe that her spell was to kill Shrek but because Harolds armor reflected it he saved everybody from her whilst she died as a result of this. Now with her gone all her magic was undone which meant that Harold had to go back to how original frog form.
Yap incoming Both good theories I can’t lie but if her magic was removed because she died then how come shrek and Fiona didn’t turn back? They changed appearance because they drank potions (well shrek did), so wouldn’t that mean that Charles changed appearance because a potion made by fairy godmother, because this whole movie potions were a big thing in terms of the “happily ever after” potion and the potion Charles almost gave Fiona. But I still feel like the fairy godmother would’ve killed all of them because she’s sick and twisted, there’s no way she would’ve let all of them live after being tricked and double-crossed.
Fun fact: When donkey drank the “Happily Ever After” potion, it did work on Dragon. In an early script, they had Dragon show up as a big pink talking Pegasus along side donkey as a talking white stallion. But, dragon showing up would have given away that she was pregnant, so writers and animators decided to have her show up in the credits scene afterwards.
Not me being all mushy towards the end when fiona said “with the ogre i married” I’m over here cheesing with you. Great reaction! Love all your videos 💗

13:41 - 13:50 is the moment when you can visibly *see* when Fiona forgives Shrek. It’s in that moment that she realises it’s *not* his fault. He’s an Ogre, people don’t like him, he’s been on the defensive… Then her father spits that line “Look what he’s done to you!” and Fiona realises, oh god, it’s her *father* that’s the problem. So she forgives her husband, picks up her bags, and does as her father says; she “think(s) about what’s best for you”. What’s best for her? Shrek, who adores her whether she’s human or Ogre; Shrek, who came *all the way to Far Far Away to try and get her father’s acceptance.* He didn’t have to do it, but he did it anyway. And she realises - time to go home. They’re not the ones at fault; she needs to forgive Shrek… and then they need to go home because her father is the issue.
I was so happy when I first watched this movie because it was a sequel that was equal or even better than the first movie. That is often hard to do, but you are right, the addition of Jennifer Saunders as the Fairy Godmother was brilliant. She was a great character and almost enviable in her self-made business woman sort of way. It was just that she was evilly good that made you love her despite everything, and it made Prince Charming's character as such a momma's boy, extra hilarious. I really enjoyed these movies too because I did get most of the references, which a younger audience might not, though it is fun to watch a person grow older and begin to recognize references that they might not have understood when they were younger. It means the movie still has something to reveal, even later in life!
Fun fact: There was a thing called getting “Shreked” when people from dream works didn’t well…live up to the potential they would get sent to work on shrek :’)
What a sequel, probably the best sequel anybody could ever ask for. I could honestly say that this movie sets the bar quite high for what a sequel should ever be like

Shrek is the definition of timeless and classic! I just love it every time! Also, man!!! Your gingerbread man voice is amazing! It's just sooo good!!! I wonder what happened to the dragon once Donkey drank the potion LOL

Great reaction, Oscar. (That damn infectious laugh of yours gets me every time.!). Good edit as well. For me, this was the best of the Shrek movies. The first Shrek was great. Three & four were okay, but this was over the top fun. If you want another funny movie, may I suggest "Ruthless People" (1986). It's from the same people that did "Airplane" and "Naked Gun". ✌✌
Quick theory relating to the Fairy Godmother: she was the one who cursed Fiona. I know that Fiona stated in the first movie that a witch put the spell on her, but it's revealed during the ball scene that the Fairy Godmother can change her appearance, and it's no secret she's well-versed in magic. Her end goal? To ultimately put her son, Prince Charming, on the throne as the new king of Far Far Away and pull the strings through him.
8:39 He endures blistering winds and scorching dessets. He climbed to the tallest room of the tallest bloody tower and what does he find? Some gender confused wolf who tells him that his princess is already married.
i remember never agreeing with fiona when she said "you couldve at least TRIED to get along with my father!" because Shrek was really doing his best at first until Harold made the uneccessary comment about being disgusted of shrek and fiona having children.
The fanfare that Reggie plays is from the cop series Hawaii Five-O (the old one from the 60's). Originally, it was gonna be the tune from CHiPS but the test audience didn't recognize it, so it was changed.
If the King and Queen, the Fairy Godmother, and Prince Charming have such a problem with Fiona's husband, they should've complained to Lord Farquat since HE sent Shrek to rescue her... Oh man, I forgot... He's eaten.
I think you should react to Nimona, it’s such a good movie and it has some similarities to Shrek in the sense of being a fairytale style story while being its own thing.
The rare time that the sequel is better than the original; and especially when the original is excellent! Also I love Bonnie Tyler, but Jennifer Saunders' cover of Holding out for a Hero is even better in my opinion. (if you haven't yet, you need to find the special features and watch the Far Far Away Idol! So good; I'd watch that on repeat growing up)
Yeah I wonder that too. The potion is beauty divine so I believe many four legged animals would turn into the same white horse since it’s beautiful. I think a Pegasus would work well for Dragon though.
@thecocoacouch I thought the whole point of the Happily Ever After Potion was to provide a "happy ending" to its consumers, and donkey being turned into a pegasus seems to fit more of shrek's "wish" to turned into a prince charming mold to fit with fiona's family with a stallion like prince charming at the beginning. (the potion's magic could have responded to Shrek's wish while also affecting Donkey due to his proximity and consumption of the potion, resulting in the pegasus transformation.) I remembered a youtuber's theory was that donkey's true happy ending was to have kids with dragon, which he ended up getting by the end credits. (the whole kiss condition, I think, was only meant for shrek and fiona, because it wouldn't explain why dragon kids didn't disappear) The only thing that breaks this theory is that it's implied that dragon was moody at the beginning of the film, implying she was pregnant already.
@@wendyforde9303 Well of course the moody thing was foreshadowing to the revelation later that Dragon had been pregnant. And Donkey wasn't turned into Pegasus he was turned into a stallion. It would be Dragon who would turn into some other mythical beast that flies, like Pegasus or a hippogriff.
Of course Fiona is THE top princess in the kingdom. "Brave hero defeats dragon and rescues a princess from a tower" is probably the most archetypical "Fairytale" ever, and Fiona is that archetype. She's more classic than Red Riding Hood, or Cinderella, or Snow White even.
