Trackmaster R/C Victor Unboxing review and first run

- Hello guys and gals, here we have the Trackmaster remote control Victor locomotive. I bought this on ebay not too long ago for the sum of $38 which is the same price as the stores here but this is long unavailable here.
Victor is a steam engine who works at the Sodor steamworks and is apparently the foreman or boss there in charge of fixing and maintaining the engines. Victor it turns out was completely rebuilt after being dropped in the sea upon arriving in Sodor from Cuba.
This train was heavily over packaged for something so small and the box could have been much smaller I feel maybe 1/2 the size if the remote was laid flat, anyway the train needs 6xAAA batteries and thats quite allot (3xAAA in the engine 3xAAA in the controller). The sounds are crisp and clear the speaker in the remote does a good job with the chugging/air brake sounds, whistle and the theme tune. It runs well and is actually quieter than the regular TM Victor if you take the remote out of the room, had no accidents while running and was able to get around the whole inside track with no problems, going through the auto point was also done well and it has no problem climbing and descending the normal ramp tracks.
The paint and details are good throughout although I feel the load in the truck could have been painted. the stripes, side cab details and symbols are stickers and they are all applied with care. The face is correct but the eyes seem to be not looking in the same direction. This is a minor concern and as i said in the video i can't find anything wrong with the engine overall.
So I am happy with this engine and having only had the thomas version to play with before I gave it back after repairing it this is a welcome addition to my collection.
I give this Trackmaster R/C Victor a 9/10 due to the fact i don't know why it has to use so many batteries and the speaker should be contained in the engine or truck as it is in the talking engines (there is space you can see in the vid when I fit batteries).

Hi theres 2 battery packs that hold 2xAA at the station they power the lights, there's also one at the petrol station and one between the wooden houses

I didn't think he would because it has a sensor under the tender to make sure the wheels are on the ground. But... thinking about it now he might work.

@8:08 - Well, Victor isn't really a British engine, his prototype was built by Baldwin for a sugar mill in Cuba. By the way, what's that other red and yellow engine @9:39?

Great review! The only RC engine I have is Hiro, when I opened him, I never destroyed the packaging from the back. I took the inside box out from one of the sides, RC Victor looks good, the only thing that he lacks is his back cab window and the yellow lining around it that the normal model has. I'd like to get this but just ordered the Talking Flashback Victor so I think that's enough for now.
Also this is your 173th video, and Victor's original number was 1173, similar isn't it?

Hi yes I'm thinking the new 2012 rc have allot to do with the resources of the Mattel empire they would have a huge toy R&D department and many electronic designs they could use from other toy lines.

There is now a 2014 R/C Victor and Stanley with the new remote controller. Also we usually use the word "wonky" for crooked eyes. Just saying.

Didn't the trackmaster talking trains have the nun detachable cars?.
Why did they use that whistle for this one and the big splash version. That was never his whistle in the movie or a show.

No Turn Table test for RC Victor? I am sure he works on the Turn Table.

What kind of screw driver to replace the batteries?
Phillips head, just like four almost every toy. Only a few things have flat heads. If you want to get into the gearbox and stuff and some of these, well…, That’s a different story.
its tricky i try when im be got this and try unboxed it with undamaged too sad for box
Never liked this kind as the wires always got snapped. I thing the best r/c engines so far are the 3 speeds and 2012 r/c simple design (thomas, percy, diesel and diesel 10).
Aren’t the RC ones wire connected? I don’t know; I don’t have one.
