- This video is an overview of the purpose and versatility of hand presses for setting rivets, snaps, grommets etc. My affiliate link (paid link) to the generic press that uses the same dies as the Kam DK93 and the Minkus Margo dies is amzn.to/3hY8wfd. The link to my accessories for the presses is doodabug.com/product-category...

Such a great video. I’ve had a lot of questions about the presses and appropriate dies. We can always count on you to share your extensive knowledge. Thanks.
Just ordered the kam press 93 , so glad to see it gets your thumbs up ...very informative video , thank you
Thank you Debby for the great information on these presses. I have the Gold Star press and kind of wish I had ordered a more generic one like the Kam Press. However, I will keep it for rivet setting. I had also ordered the press plates from Hollie. BTW, I really like your hair. Very flattering on you.
What a great video, Debby! It answers most of my questions! Thanks a lot 😘
Once again I have learned so much from you, thank young Hi from Australia
Thank you so much for this video, takes the fear away of the presses.
Nothing at all to be scared of 😁. I’m glad I could help you!
THANKS Debby. Have been researching presses and dies for months and kept hitting roadblocks as to die/press compatibility and shipping/duty charges for Canada. This helped so much.
Kam snaps makes a snap removal die. Works great. I love it.
Love this, thank you. Love your sweatshirt as well! 🥰

Wonderfully informative video. Thank you!
Thank you for such great information, I am just starting out on my journey learning to use the table press and accessories. Best wishes from Australia.
Dang girl! So much information great video, thank you so much!!!
Great video! Very informative for a newbie like myself!
Great information
Hi, thanks so much, what a great informative video!
Very very helpful...thank you
Thank you!
thank you!
this is wonderful! thank you, i had no idea about picana? def looking into that:)
Look for PacCana
@@DebbyHunker oh yes, it finally popped up. i looked it up the way i spelled it and apparently its a fruit and an animal.
i did find it and requested an account to get more info. i looked at their product list and just might be doing my supply shopping from there. sadly going downtown for supplies isnt a thing anymore, most shops are gone. thx again for the info, this is gold!
Thanks Debby for you replies. So if I continue to move forward with my plan to be a leather worker, which press would you reccomend?
I like the DX93 because both the press and the dies are cheaper than what you get with the Tandy press. On the other hand, I'm afraid that since Tandy is strictly a leather company, that in the future I will run into a problem is I need Tandy Dies that are not available for the DX93. Any thoughts?
great vid, will look into getting the press plates. Can you show me more examples of what you use the little hole cutters for? wish they came in the shape of strap connectors. Also could you get a custom stamp made with your logo and use it in a hand press to put your logo onto wet leather? I saw someone do this with the arbor press, but it seems like it should also work with your plate in the bottom and the custom stamp impression on the top. Any idea who would make that with the piece that inserts into the top part of the press?
Hi Debby - Thank you for the wonderful overview! I am very very interested in your "teaser" about the rotary pliers. Any updated information?
No update yet, but we're working on it!
Thanks so much. I want to order the press plates.
Have a look on my website 😁 doodabug.com/product-category/tools/
digging out my press again (after almost 2 years - broke my arm in 3 places) so more questions. it's been a while. does one half of the rivet die always have that rubberized end? I never did mark mine (getting little containers for them is on my list once I figure out what I have). I do know that my top is 8mm threads and the bottom is 19. so I guess it's the same as the DK93? good to know.
I know you said to LABEL, LABEL, LABEL. too late. any suggestions on how to identify which dies are for what and what size they accommodate? thanks!
the most difficult thing I came across when looking for dies for my 'generic' presses was the thread type and diameter for the top part of the die. I believe mine required an 8mm thread. I was able to get the super sharp hole punch from kamsnap (KX Awl Piercing Dies). since there were no returns if it didn't work I ordered it and crossed my fingers. it did work. however the bottom didn't fit and I needed an adapter. I've since purchased the kamsnap handheld version of their table press (Professional Stand-Up / Mini-Table Press for Snaps, Rivets, Grommets & Buttons (KX-T2 KAM)). but again what I had a hard time finding were the dimensions of the top threading on dies thru EBAY and Amazon.
I still am not sure which is what when it comes to ring snaps, etc. the plastic snaps thru Kam are super easy to use with their little hand press. As for the 4 part snaps - seems like if you're only doing one or two - there is a lot of switching out die parts. am I confused? I experienced a multiple fracture earlier this year and used the snaps on a bra strap. I cut the strap and installed snaps so I could get dressed without help. I plan on making a few blouses and would like to use metal snaps as opposed to plastic so I'm still trying to figure out what i need and how to use them.
this was helpful. thank you for posting.
I did follow your link above and I believe that is the press I have
You’re not wrong... switching out dies is time consuming... It’s the necessary evil I’m afraid...
Does snaps, etc. from SnapsTools fit the Kams Snap Press?
Hey as far as the die press ! Sadly I didn’t go with cam :-( I went with gold star :-( my luck and idk if I can even afford any more of there dies ! It’s extra 5$ up to even 15 20 for like 1/2 inch grommets and dies ! But I seen you have the flat plates that fit ? Where can find them and what can do with it ?! Ty
Thank you for the video. So, I went on Paccana site and am confused. Which sets to purchase they have sizes like 33, 34, 36? To purchase through them you have to have a tax number, which I do.
I have several self backing eyelets I like to use with my Kam press; Is there a die I can use to use them?
Hi Debby,
I need your help so bad.
I watched your video on UA-cam Hand Presses and I am ordering the Yaheetech Eyelet Grommet Machine Hand Press Grommet Machine with 3 Die (#0#2#4) & 1500 Pcs Silver Grommets Heavy Duty Punch Tool Kit
by Yaheetech
What Dies do I need for the pearl snaps that I have? I have always had to do them by hand with a hammer, block of wood and the little tool that came with them way back when.
Debby! Thanks for the help that your video has provided. I'm a leather working beginner and would like to buy those press plates but was wondering if you have any that are magnetic which would help secure the cheaper cutting dies you were referring to. Thanks!
They aren't magnetic, but you can get flat, round magnets that will stick to the press plate and the dies. I've used that method for cutting larger round holes that didn't require perfect placement.
@@DebbyHunker Do you have info. on where I can purchase these Debby?
I would have appreciated more info on the Gold Star Press since this is what I have.
I don't endorse or recommend the GoldStar press, that's why there isn't much info on it.
I’m sorry to keep asking questions lol but also I see the revolving hole puncher ? I am not going to pay 30$ to 50$ to punch holes and half the time doesn’t work ! Lol so I am buying one like this the hand held multi size where did you buy yours
Hi Debby, just a lil note.. KAM has a snap remover for the dreaded mishap when applying a snap. I just happened to see a video they've put out for it. I'm still confused! I have no idea what dies to get nor which press. could you possibly streamline this info? ex .. If you get this or that machine you need this die for these rivets/snaps. For myself there was so much info crisscrossing somewhere I got twisted. I know all the details were important, please don't get me wrong I just need a press thats umm maybe not that brand specific (?) I'm making bags need 8mm /9mm single/double sided rivets & grommets but im not sure thats possible from what Im understanding..hence lolol I got lost. Can we say info overload for this B.I. recovering noggin. lolol I sure appreciate your help
Wow. Thank you. Wish I'd seen this before I ordered but happy to have info now. Just bought the green KamSnap KX93 table press and does for rivets. Want grommets too but unable to get info from seller to purchase correct stuff. The link you provide for green generic press on Amazon is no longer available. Do hv another recommendation? Love your vid and have subbed. Thanks again and hello from California
Thank you for your kind words and for letting me know about the link. I have updated the affiliate link.

Thanks

Hello Debby, its me again. Will all the Tandy and PicCana dies fit the DK93 press? Thanks!
HI Anthony!! No. The Tandy/PacCana dies only fit a press that uses a set screw and a 3/8" shaft. The DK93 has an M8 screw in top and a 3/4" drop in bottom.
I’d almost too just try to buy. A cheap press and go this way
Hola debby una prensa me sirve para rojillos y para remaches de doble cara y broches fe presion
Sí, sólo tienes que comprar los diferentes dados para cada uno.
do any of those presses have the capability to do fabric covered buttons
You just need the right dies for the press. I would check with Kam to see if the they have the dies.
@@DebbyHunker thanks
Why is there no info on the "picana" press? I can't find it anywhere. Please and thanks.
PacCana.
