Nah Hijab’s first qualification was in philosophy as far as I have researched. What he is talking about is something any undergrad philosopher would know. And most laymen intuitively understand this. Mathematics, language, science etc are just inferences we make *on top of the already existing world.* They are just the “sunglasses,” we view the world from. They are just paradigms and mappings. This is a little bit out of the scope of Mathematics and more in line with the philosophy behind math. Proving that 2+2 is 4 is indeed Mathematics though.
@@musashi542 That's not true at all from a Mathematics perspective. I studied a BSc in Mathematics (specialisation in Computer Science) and we were taught the proof for 2+2=4 using Peano's Axioms for the natural numbers. Godel's théorème is for Axiomatic and Intuitive truisms, which are *the basis* of Math and Reason. However, the theorem does not justify the Inductive and Mathematical proofs themselves. Another good example is the assumption that you are a human, and I'm not typing this out to a Robot. After making this inference, NOW we can start using Mathematical reasoning depending on the topic. Since you can say I have 2 plus 2 rocks or I have 4 rocks. They both mean the same thing. You still have tje same amount. Thats the whole point of the expression. A = 2 plus 2. You can't do *deductive reasoning* (a specific type of logic). *Inductive reasoning* (another specific type of logic) does not necessarily require objective "truth". Syllogisms within deductive reasoning act as a "truth function", but arguments made within deductive reasoning do not act as truth functions. They act as probability calculators. In standard arithmetic, 2+2 will always equal 4. However, in certain mathematical systems or abstract concepts, such as in the study of theoretical physics or philosophy, the interpretation of numbers and their operations can be nuanced. In those contexts, 2+2 might not always result in 4, but this is a highly specialized and theoretical understanding that is not applicable in everyday arithmetic.
The first guy is actually right. Man chose base 10 mathematics as the basics. The language of the universe is binary, and even if we use abstract aspects, they are never in base 10. We chose that 2+2 is 4 and not 10+10=100.
@sageofsixpathskakashi3742 if you're trying to say that we NAMED the symbols, yes, we did. However, they always existed as concepts and absolute realities. Just like Newton didn't create gravity or that Einstein didn't create relativity. It's like saying rhinos wouldn't exist if humans called them cats. @@pollen1253 2+2=4 is not a tautology. It's raining it's raining is obvious. It has to be said differently. It should be, it will either rain tomorrow or it will not rain tomorrow. Or, the sky is either blue or it is not blue. "a=b or a≠b."
2+2=4 is not a tautology because the second part of the definition of, a proposition which is always true, by necessity of its logical form. What is the logical form of 2+2=4?
4=4 is a tautology, but you can't make 2+2=4 connecticted in formula, the "+" is the issue here. Without adding some complexities and forced and defined axioms in number theory, it cannot be a tautology. A mathematical truth, absolutely, but not a tautology.
The best you can get when you try to make 2+2=4 in TFL is a sentence letter, and a sentence letter is never a tautology. So you have to instead, adequately symbolize some English sentence with a TFL sentence which is a tautology, to express that the English sentence is a necessary truth.
@@pollen1253 It does not involve varying logical operations or propositional variables. That is an absolute requirement for a statement to be considered a tautology in mathematical logic.

Many other proofs are also just a Google search away.
A better example of Godel's théorème in use is the Cogito, ergo sum.
You can't do logic without objective truth. Good statement. Remember it.
Deductive reasoning says if something is true, false, or if you require more data.... Whereas inductive reasoning calculates a high probability or a lower probability for a thing.
