My manager is amazing. She has a basket of goodies from the dollar store and if 5 people say ur good at ur job you get to get something from the basket. She also is throwing us an ice cream party later this month and brings in goodies for people’s birthdays. She also sends morning messages saying you’re awesome with a cute inspirational gif.
My boss currently shouts and swears at all staff when stuff doesn’t go his way. I’ve had stand up arguments in the workshop because of his attitude. We would get swore at and shouted at if we didn’t hit upsell target (of which we make NOTHING from except money for the CEOs pocket). I have currently handed my notice in and 4 other memebers have staff are leaving too. It’s true what you say, if you have a good manager who is understanding and treats you well, you have a better working relationship and are happier at work
All the talk of horrible managers just reminded me that my manager told me not to have my period at work because it affected my job (period pain) he literally told me to hold it in until I was finished my shift 🤦♀️🤣
I literally left this job at sainsburys yesterday. I enjoyed it but the way my time in the job came to an end ruined it for me. I was initially taken on as a Christmas employee for two months, then because there were a lot of orders because of the pandemic my contract kept getting extended, but they never made it permanent, but they rarely told us the exact date each contract ended and only told us they were extending it, and then after working for them for nine months and doing loads of overtime, my manager tells me that my contract is ending in THREE DAYS! So that was fun.
When I worked at Sainsburys they ended my contract by saying they were no longer extending it beyond the end of that week. Okay, cool, I was starting a uni course at the end of that week and expected the contract to end at the end of the week anyway. What they didn't tell me was that my contract ended AFTER THAT CONVERSATION. I still got up and went to work the next day much to the surprise of all the managers who were just as surprised at me being there as me being being surprised that they weren't expecting me for my scheduled shift 🙃
Retail is shit. I used to work in Morrison’s and the management were AWFUL. My friend at the time’s birthday was coming up so I booked ONE DAY of holiday… ONE DAY. It gets to the day before and they still hadn’t approved my holiday so anyway, the evening rolls around and my manager didn’t approve it. I turned up the day of my shift with my keys, my uniform and my notice and told them to have a good shift. I never went back. It was AWFUL.
I worked for Sainsburys temp during a Christmas period left after the second shift it was horrendous, they were bullies to staff and spoke to staff like they had issues. I now work for a different company on significantly more after uni, so glad I don't have to put up with that crap.
I got a job at a popular bath body store and upon hiring I told them I am getting married this date. I need these days off so I can go home and get married. The district manager said yes, no problem. Come the time I need to schedule the days to get married and the store manager said no. I'm like, ummm when I was hired that was the deal as per our district manager. She said yaa Noooo, im not going to give you that time, you can have 2 days. So I quit and it effed her over
I work nights , I've been there many times waking up too early but your that tired that you don't even know what day it is and the panic you get you don't even think you just jump up
Loved the video! Made me laugh so much :D I remember in my last job I was told to "get over my disability". So I'm glad I'm in my new job where I'm treated fairly and nicely by my new manager
Best intro on YT, there should be a 5-second limit on YT intros, lol. Another Phab Phil story! Anyone who's worked in retail has had this manager. I don't know if it's the gross beast of 'retail' that attracts these personalities or if retail work wakes the latent A-hole gene.
I worked at Sainsburys from 2017-19 and omg . I can’t even go the shop now without almost having a panic attack. Sounds dramatic I know . But first year was fine, love the colleagues. But there was a huge change with new managers. And so many new expectations and targets it got silly. I was constantly told I wasn’t fast enough putting stock out but I only did 4 hour shifts! it got super stressful. My mental health took a massive dive and I had a panic attack in the store and when I did my back to work they acted like it wasn’t even a panic attack (it was). Also they hand out disciplinarys like sweets, I suffer migraines and was off frequently cos of how bad they can be and no one seemed to understand or support me. Only good thing that came out that job was, the money, I still talk to some people from there and I met my bf I’ve been with for 3 years!
I worked for sainsburys and I had a manager like that (well it was the area manager) The old one wasn't fantastic but when he got moved to a different position the new one came in and tried to change everything and blame it on policy. Not one person was happy with him at all. I was a store lead and me and the store manager (I was in a local) treated all the staff really good 👍
I had a weekend job in my local pub (the landlord and lady has since changed and they are both lovely.) working behind the bar pulling pints ect and the landlord/ lady were most of the time drunk halfway through my shift, vulgar and just incredibly unpleasant. For instance they would accuse the staff of giving away free booze when they were drinking it all away (example: fresh brandy bottle set up on stand, end of shift over 1/2 has already gone.) Eventually it just got to the point where I had enough and I told them I was leaving and I had an another weekend job in a café in my hometown and my bosses were lovely so I stayed and worked there right up until the weekend before I moved to university.
10 pm to 7 am at Tesco night shift. The big holidays are the worst. If you like holidays like Christmas 🎄. Don't work retail. All you see is the commercialism side of the holiday. Used to be funny when you'd see the teenagers buying cheap tesco pasta and you knew there parents went on holiday. The stories mental.
Stocking is what I use to do at my job at Jcpenney had to leave as well it was closing down. And it hurt like hell now I work at a much cooler job at the sports arena.
OMG i always thought you looked a little familiar ( not talking about bgt ) and now it just hit me 🤯 ! You look like Jake Paul ! yesssss your face reminds me so much of him 😲 but in my opinion, you look better ☺️ , love you ❤️
Lmao I did that when I was a kid I woke up very early morning & got ready to go & went to down stairs to eat & my step dad was down there & he asked me what I was doing & I told him getting ready for school & he was like uhh you know its only 2am & I was like noooo, idk what happened lol why I did that but I went back to bed
I'd literally chew my left leg off to meet Phil, (reason I say my left leg is cos I have 3 tumours on it called Kevin, Perry and Eye Ball Paul an they are a pain) so yeah lol
WAIT PHILIP I HAVE THAT SAINSBURY'S JOB NO JOKE AND I LOVE IT

Retail is such hard work when your manager is a nightmare! I’ve had fab ones and awful ones snd have definitely worked harder for the nice ones.
