As a child, Austin traveled with his dad on the southern gospel circuit. As a young man he got a musical theater degree and was singing on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship when Home Free came on as guest performers. They all hit it off and when one of their members decided to retire a little bit later, they called up Austin. And history was made.
Think of it as THE HILL GANG INSTRUMENTAL BRILLIANCE ...... Got A Hand In The SANGIN" Department, Ya All !!! Seriously - all are wonderful music making folk ! Kudos.
Great reaction as always JB! These guys are just the "FEEL GOOD KINGS" - They're not afraid to collaborate with instruments at all - actually the keys and guitar made it more Homey-Gospel like without distracting - Tim's bass and the key's low notes were complimentary and did not clash in the least - they did it right. Love the channel and always look forward to your HF reactions. You always take it to the next level with your professional input and you know how to place it out there for most non-professional music lovers to understand your precise reactions. Keep up the good work JB! RichieC (Atl/GA)
Love your reaction as always. This is a group that Tim heard at a show he attended in Nashville and got introduced backstage that night by a mutual friend. They have collaborated on a few songs now and Texas Hill has opened for Home Free a few times. I love the fact that the men of Home Free are so humble and grateful for their careers that they want to now turn around and help others. The lead singer of Texas Hill won The Voice (Blake's team), the guitarist was on I believe American Idol and the pianist was on another show. They got together and make magic happen.
The lead for Texas Hill is Craig and he won season 7, guitarist is Casey he came in 3rd on season 9 of American Idol and the pianist is Adam that came in 2nd on the 10th season of The Voice.
It brightens this JB crew member to see you reacting to Home Free. This song gets me moving and your reactions make me smile. Can hardly wait for your next Home Free reaction.
Loved the reaction. HF always seems to put me in a good mood with their music. I saw that someone had suggested HF's Dreamer video or the HF and Texas Hill Dreamer live and I agree. Both are great to listen to. Thanks again for your reaction! Always enjoy your videos!
The thing that a lot of people don't understand is that acapella singers are musicians first, and acapella happens to be the medium that they work in, but its not the only medium that they CAN work in. I know several large barbershop choruses, and barbershop quartets that have performed with local orchestras. Its a different medium, but its how we stretch ourselves.
Texas Hill is country group consisting of 3 instrumentalists, which are Craig Wayne Boyd, winner of season 7 of The Voice, Casey James., 3rd place finalist on American Idol in the 9th season and Adam Wakefield, the ruunner up on season 10 of The Voice.
Hi Jarvis, I know I’m a little late to the party. I just discovered your channel a few days ago. I was watching reaction videos to Adam Rupp’s drum solo and your’s popped up. I have to say I really enjoy your insightful analysis of the arrangements and the way you explain what you as a professional musician hear that maybe not everyone pick up on. I love how your love for music shines through in every single video. That enthusiasm every time you hear something extra nice or surprising but also that you are not afraid to say if something is disappointing or sounds weird. Keep up the good work. Now, I love Home Free and having seen your reactions to a couple of their sillier videos yesterday and your reaction to Colder Weather just now, I think you would probably get a kick out of watching a live version of that, that… well… didn’t go as planned. Search for: Colder Memory Lapse - What They Were Thinking. It’s gold and shows you some of their personalities.
A great collaboration. It sounds beautiful even if it is with instruments. But because of those instruments you didn't even realize that one of those instruments was vocal. That's how good that Adam is.
Thank you for another Home Free reaction! I always love your enthusiasm for the production and your knowledge of the musical performance . Your smile will always spread joy into the world !!
Love this! It's on my Christmas playlist, and will stay there! Love how Austin and Rob go full gospel. For even more Gospel Austin, you should check out My Church!
Technically home free didn't use instruments, Texas Hill did! Lol Just throwing that out there for the haters. I do actually like when they use instruments sometimes, it's nice change up. Always love your reactions 😍😍
I'm with you, I love the ragtime feel of this one and yes they did another co-lab of Dreamer at the Rhyman theatre. Would love to see you react to some of Avi Kaplan's solo work, it's something special and magical.
I don't know if you've done home free, when a man loves a woman. If you haven't, give yourself a treat. It is possibly their best remake. Positively beautiful.
I love your reactions and PLEASE react to more Pentatonix. I think you’d love the Sound of Silence and Radioactive. And all their other songs lol. And yes, Go Tell it on The Mountain that is currently playing is awesome.
I know that in some U.S. states there are wild mustangs - are there wild pianos? In this video a piano is in the middle of nowhere and nowhere near a road. In Austin Brown's video "If I Met You Now", he's playing a piano in the middle of a field - again, no tire marks on the field and no road in sight. Just wondering . . . However, I love your channel and reactions!
Wasn’t that good?! Home Free was promoting Texas Hill as they were opening for Home Free at some of their concerts. They sung this at the Ryman Theater in Nashville too live. It’s so good. This was filmed around Cheyenne Wyoming when they were touring there. Such a pretty setting and such a good rendition of the song. Love your analysis Jarvis! 🥰😄
Home free only has instruments when the person or group they sing with uses the personally... check out Home Free the Devil went down to Georgia Ft. Charlie Daniels

They did "Dreamer" both a video and maybe a Ryman performance. Thanks for this reaction. Be well.
Jarvis, this needs to be on your Christmas music playlist !!! This arrangement is just magical and it takes you TO CHURCH !

Home Free can sing with anyone
This was filmed outside Cheyenne, Wyoming last December when Home Free & Texas Hill were there for a concert.
Agree absolutely 💯 Reminds me of summer Sundays at grandma's.

Awesomeness!!!!💗
You commented on the scenery. This was filmed outside Cheyenne WY, after a Home Free concert there. I believe Texas Hill opened for them.
This was the opening act during this part of their tour.
Love this! It's on my Christmas playlist, and will stay there! Love how Austin and Rob go full gospel. For even more Gospel Austin, you should check out My Church!
