  • An Evening With Groucho is the title of a 1972 compilation recording of the one-man show by American comedian Groucho Marx, edited from three separate performances: New York City's Carnegie Hall, C.Y. Stephens Auditorium at Iowa State University, and Masonic Auditorium in San Francisco, California. With the Carnegie Hall show’s introduction by Dick Cavett, the resulting performances were released as a double album by A&M Records. Marx shared family and show business stories and performed songs from Marx Brothers stage shows and movies. Marvin Hamlisch performed an opening overture and accompanied Groucho on the piano.

Absolutely wonderful. Groucho was an ils man in this performance and probably had a Zimmer frame. What a wonderful performance. What a laugh. ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉

This album was is a cherished piece of my childhood, I bought it when I was 16, and also had the cassette version for my car. I read every available book on the Marx Bros. , enjoying all the crazy stories of when they were on stage, the antics of each brother, as well as their hilarious father Sam, their devoted and beloved mother Minnie, and their uncle who was the major organizing force in developing their unique personal characters. So many wild stories of their early years, if anyone is a Marx fan ,and wish they were able to enjoy more, read some books about them, starting with Harpo's book,"Harpo Speaks". Incidentally , I feel the Paramount films are the best Marx Bros. films , and MGM , and RKO, misunderstood the essence of the Marx Bros. , and watered them down (neutered) ,making them the supporters of some couple in love ,and spending the whole movie working with everyone to make sure the couple is happy. What a bunch of crap, the Marx essence is , no one is safe from ridicule and silliness for no reason at all, no persons dignity was respected , and rightly so, in the Marx Universe. MGM turned the mighty mocking team , into some kind of love story facilitators! Ugh! The non Paramount files are acceptable in an affectionate way, but the Marx Bros . appear too normal. I like the attitude "Whatever it is, I'm against it". But enjoy this album as previous generations before have!

What did he say he saw in Houdini's mouth?
Edit: And I said "Pyorrhea!" and left the stage.
