I remember 1977 and Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. My life turned and the 2nd Chapter of Acts was so uplifting, the lyrics and their presence was a fresh breath of air and still enjoy them today; inspiring us all to uplifting others.

Still one of the all-time greatest male voices - even still. Sounds fantastic - even without his incredible sisters. 2nd Chapter of Acts was the greatest Christian rock/pop group of their time and one of if not the best ever vocal trios with the most incredulous harmonies you will have ever witnessed. Matthew is a genuine angel.

I was saved in 79, senior year in High School in West Hills CA. I was so grateful to Find Jesus! Rock and Roll and all the stuff did not satisfy and finally someone would share Jesus with a Long Hair Rock and Rollers. 2nd Chapter of Acts, Keith Green and all the artist were very important in my transition. Thank you Lord for your Body, The Church.
One of the first Christian Contemporary albums I owned way back in 1977 was "2nd Chapter of Acts...with footnotes." Great to see Matthew Ward still singing out his heart to the Lord. Like all of us he doesn't do those high falsettos anymore. But the power of his voice is still firm. God bless you Matthew.
+Mark Rogers It is good to see him; according to his web page, in the early 1990's he battled three different types of Cancer; (it doesn't list the individual types.) It runs in his family; by the time he was 12 or 13, he'd lost his Mom to a Brain Tumor and his Dad to Leukemia, which as you probably know was when he and Nellie came to live w/ Annie and Buck. Also he's now a registered Nurse's Aid, qualified in 2013 or 14.

my all time favorite vocalist of all time....male or female.....Christian or secular....his voice is brilliant.
The very first Christian album I received after accepting Jesus as savior in summer of 1977 was The 2nd Chapter of Acts with footnotes. The power of the Holy Spirit was never more evident than when Annie, Nellie and Matthew sang in anointed harmony. Matthew has always been and will always be the most incredible singer I have ever heard. So thankful he is still blessing all of us who have the privilege of hearing him. Thank you, Matthew!

The group 2nd Chapter of Acts was my favorite group, along with Keith Green their music blessed me as a teenager and to hear Annie and Matthew still blessing us with song is a blessing. My girlfriend and now wife was at Disneyland on Church Night in the 70's and they performed the Hallelujah Chorus it was a blessed performance and I have never seen a recording of that song by them, they are definitely blessed by the Spirit of God.

Brother Matthew, it is a blessing to see you are still singing; Right after I received Christ as my savior and master, I began hearing music with you and your sisters in the 2nd Chapter of Acts and played the music on my 8-track player, I was excited because it was such excellent music so I brought it home to let my Father hear the music, and used it as a testimony to witness to my folks. My Father was a nightclub singer and my Mother sang in Choirs when she was younger, so I too have a background in music. Of course, I am only 2 years older than you and listened to the radio and patterned my style of singing after Motown as a teen, while in high school.
My favorite songs from you are Summer Snow and Love, and that song you did, Soft Spot Inside When You Touch It, it made me cry. I want to mention that I prayed for you when I found out you had cancer and Praised God, and was so very glad to know God healed you, what a testimony your life has been, as well as an inspiration to my life. Brother Matthew, thank you for your part in contributing to my growth, In Jesus' Name
2nd Chapter of Acts, Keith Green, Don Francisco, pianist Dino, and Carmen are the 5 artists I was first introduced to back in the summer of 1982 when I was saved at a missionary in Japan, being in the Air Force. Haven’t seen or heard Matthew since an a concert with 2nd Chapter Of Acts in Lakeland Fl in 1975-76…he was incredible then! Then I heard this UA-cam video and busted out crying…Incredible what gifts he has, and the work the Holy Spirit does though him!!

I remember 2nd Chapter of Acts from back in the late 70's. Beautiful music. That was a time when Christian music was about Christ. Today, people sing about their feelings and call it worship music.
I first heard Matthew Ward sing "Give to the Lord" when he was younger with this distinctive voice. He's aged, but his voice hasn't. A blessed Easter Sunday 2020!

Still rocking that vocal control! So nice to see this still going on today. I will be 45 this year, and his voice captivated me when I was in elementary school!
I used to go to Church on the Way in the 70's and remember when this song came out...and they passed around 45's to everyone. I had to get the album and then went to every concert they were in, often with Barry McGuire. We eventually moved to Northern Calif and saw them in Sacramento too... I have every one of their cd's and still listen to them...great voices and genuine testimonies!! LOVE THEM! Glad Matthew Ward is still performing!

With the first "Hallelujah", I had begun to wonder if this was the song for which 2nd Chapter became most closely associated. But that only lasted for a couple of seconds.
I have loved this song ever since I was a young child. My dad was a Keith Green fanatic and I heard a lot of him and a lot of 2nd Chapter of Acts due to the friendship then and Keith had. I have always envied Keith Green's and Matthew Ward's voice. Amazingly gifted and humbling individuals!
I was so disappointed when I saw Keith Green in concert, and he spoke the most outrageous bs about how the rebels against the US backed fascist government of El Salvador were terrorists and satanists. Those hippy Jesus people directly paved the way for Reagan, the Moral Majority, Trump and the rest of the crazy rubbish that's going on today. I suppose it is possible that had Green lived, he would have come to repudiate his noxious retrograde politics, and repent. We will never know. I was never under the sway of the 4 square church, the assembly of god, or any of those people again, and I was better off for it.
So much for Romans 13 and other Pauline admonitions to honor the Government that Father God has His hands in seeing up and taking down.
Perhaps it's a heart issue?
Jump up and down, and thank our Sovereign Father (with your hands fully raised in wonder and praise), that He has found your courage to believe Him (o/k/a 'Faith')...., WORTHY TO BE TESTED.
He's crazy, over-the-top, nuts in live and deep LIKE with you...., ACQUIESCE to Him. He'll actually FILL YOU with contentment (not happiness) and Joy and Trust and Wonder...., in place of skepticism, cynicism, pride, and arrogance.
You ARE LOVED. Accept that Truth FULLY, and no vitriol shall pass through YOUR 'personality'...., about any of Father's children or servants He allows. Whether they be wayward (Keith Green, Reagan, Trump, YOU, ME) or 'perfect' in YOUR EYES.
CHOOSE LIFE (Jesus -John 14)
Allow GRACE to 'Train you to deny all ungodliness' (Titus 2).
Find a local Grace-Based, Faith community and be apart of local growth and solutions.
Not one YOU 'have to Trust', But the one that Father will, by His intuition not your 'feeling', LEAD YOU TO.
He desires a very deep intimacy with you, He paid VERY DEARLY for such a thing, to bring you into the victory, power authentic and ABUNDANT LIFE that Jesus promised to all true believers.

Frankly, I think Green is seriously missing MUCH regarding Father's disposition TOWARDS His Beloved Children ( I John 4:17)and even the World (John 3:16) definitely had a works perspective and not much understanding of authentic Grace.
No? I do not believe it was right for anyone to follow the Nazis and that is a perfect example of people (Christians), (Bonhoffer and his ilk excluded...) to allow such evil to not be spoken to or approved.
In our system, it's VOTING not Sham impeachments, that must be utilized to stem evil. Sometimes our choices ARE THE LESSER of evils, but choosing FREEDOM over any govt increase of supposed 'benefit' is what often is all one has to go on.
But I digress...
It appears to me, that the scriptures I offered made you no benefit or were ignored because you putting the affective 'stupid' in front of another's HEART is the attitude I was attempting to address.
Read Romans 14:4 and consider scrutinizing yourself (as Paul admonishes multiple times in the New Covenant) and leaving the judgement of others to God.

I saw them in concert at Hollywood Presbyterian on Gower in 1973. What a time of praise & worship to our King.
He exudes the joy of the Lord! What a blessing to listen to and anticipate the Lord's return!
I want you to imagine this actual scenario folks.
I cannot even begin to tell you how it felt sitting in a weekly meeting with the following as the combined worship band.
Keith Green, Melody Green, the entire band of Second Chapter of Acts with Matthew Wards angelic voice, taking those gathered to a realm in heavenly places of worship that they'd never wanted to return from.
EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT at the weekly prayer meeting @ Lindale, Texas, were the AWESOME, UNCOMPROMISING weekly teachings of Leonard Ravenhill.
In the gathering would be my sister and brother in law Kent and Elizabeth McElroy, Mack Tomlinson, who recently wrote the Biography of Leonard Ravenhill, also Paul Washer, the humble and now mightly anointed servant of God, also Leonard Terry, anointed teacher of The Word of God at a fellowship in London, Ontario, where his ministry/teaching gifts are not utilised anywhere near the extent of Leonards giftings, then the amazing musician and worship leader Larry MaGill .
Those truly were days of incredible teaching and worship which never could be copied today.
Days when the anointing resting on the mouth of Leonard Ravenhill, would bring the entire gathering to their knees and eventually prostrate on their faces before The Lord in repentance.
NOWADAYS WE CAN BARELY LAST AN HOUR IN CHURCH AND THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REVERENCE OR FEAR OF WHO OUR AWESOME GOD IS.
That must have been truly AWESOME to witness. I met 2nd Chapter in Syracuse 1979 when I was touring in ministry of Covenant Players and they were so genuinely kind, but more importantly, the Holy Spirit POURED in their concert and AFTERWARDS in their humble hearts. They were/are a ministry UNPARALLELED. Praise be to God ALmighty for their work in greatly expanding the Kingdom.

I was 13. I was passionate about music. A gift. And I attended a concert in a small cotton field high school in Northeast Louisiana. These two amazingly beautiful women came out with this awesome vocalist brother of theirs. Now, understand, I'm 13. I NOTICED the girls. Then there was a problem with the piano tuning. So, Buck Herring comes out and calms the crowd while they tune the piano. Then it hits me....WAIT! HER last name is "Herring...." Well DANG....I'm THIRTEEN remember...logic does NOT matter.... But WAIT....there's the WARD gal....but then.....the MUSIC.....I was lost in Matthew's voice....I was captivated....enveloped beyond the flesh...seeking...I am 61 now...my SAVIOR is still with me. I have a degree in music...(that and .10 cents gets me a a coffee on a sale). Oh, but the MUSIC....like the Savior...it is there...ALWAYS there...with the guitar in my hands...with the piano before me....with the horns in my hands....ALWAYS with me....Like JESUS....Mr. Matthew, Ms. Anne, Ms Nelly...thank you for your guidance, for your steadfastness. First Christian music album I ever heard/owned was 2nd chapter of acts and Barry Maguire live. Takes me back to my first love. This Easter day, THANK YOU JESUS. Thank you Matthew.
I saw him when he was a long-haired kid back in the late 70's. I had a lot more hair then too! What a blessing to hear you sing this song! I saw you, Matthew with 2nd Chapter of Acts in Richmond, VA. I have always loved this song. I lived in Colorado Springs for 20 years, and it is an extra blessing to see and hear you sing this in the Garden of the Gods!

OMGosh, just love this, we were amerced in the Jesus Movement bake then and lived on these dear songs, had all the records. Matthew was so young and shy then from loosing his parents with this awesome voice and boy, look at him now, wow!
I fell in love with his songs 40 years ago. Wow! Love this video!
