Personally I'm not convinced that the choices will be as significant as first promised back in the early trailers. It'll probably be the same compromise that we've seen in others areas of the game in order to get it finished. I am confident though that Techland will be supporting Dying Light 2 for many years to come after release to keep us interested after completing the game several times already 👍🏻
Techland did say something in a D2K Episode. I think it was ep3 or ep4, but they said something like "Lawan has a kill list and depending on your choices is whether or not you'll be on it or off it" but then Tymon Smektala cut them off and said that they are saying too much so 🤷

Gameplay and graphics wise it lives up but the story was clearly cut back. Which was clearly a decision made due to the limited capabilities of current gen. I think they made the right decision of cutting back so much on the story aspect because they are still an indie studio and this would be a difficult task even for a team the size of R*

Im fully confident that the choices lives up to our expectations the developers are only trying not to spoil to much untill the game comes out
my biggest concern was if avelone's content was still in the game, it sucks to hear it isn't but hopefully techland got inspired and can build a new vegas like story for us to roam around in
I'm more so worried about the visual changes which I think was definitely avelone in the beginning. Everything looks too cartoonish and vivid now. Definitely does not look as gritty and unforgiving as the 2019 demo did.
my biggest complaint is that the story feels like its been done a billion times and that the choices dont really matter. the only ones that really matter is after a water tower activity where it just gives you world impact depending if you choose PK or survivors and these choices arent main story, theyre just for upgrades. the story doesnt really give me a reason to care for either faction. characters like lawan just become annoying and forced and her line at the end of the game "i wonder if ill make red fireworks" literally made me sigh becuase its that cheesy. none of the characters are likeable. the gameplay is the only enjoyable thing and for a game thats supposed to be 500 hours long, it feels like 450 is shitty dialog.
actually the choices on the main missions really matter, they can change a lot of things but yeah some of the characters are really annoying with stupid dialogues and i couldn't care a lot for the factions except for frank

The only choices that actually change the city are draining the flooded section and giving the water tower to either of them in which case both are extremely minor and meaningless. The first part of the game it doesn’t matter who you side with the story ends up in the exact same place with the exact same people regardless. I loved dead islands shootouts and slow paced horror in the sewer levels shit was scary asf lol it was such a great game couldnt do coop anytime any1 joined they tossed Molly and grenades at people and left
6:30 They did say that each choice is pretty much neutral because you won't know what the consequences are until you make the decision. A seemingly good choice helping PKs kill bandits can be good but it could lead to the PKs getting cocky and just exterminating every person who they think is a bandit. But however letting the bandits live could make them disregard your help and go back to their old ways, maybe you find out a kid got kidnapped by them, and now you have opened up a sidequest to get her back and leave them no choice.

I personally love linear games with a particular direction, even if they’re a little predictable. I think so long as the choices make a significant impact on the way the world around you feels and gives an authentic feeling of control it’ll work. Dying light one managed to be a pretty epic game, despite having an extremely generic story. I have little doubt that DL2 will knock out of the park and I can’t wait👍
the devs stated that by exploring and reading notes ingame or whatever one may find more background info which may make decisions more informed :) However, idk where I have this from and I thinks its 1-2 years back that I heard this anyways. So who knows, but would be cool
I'm expecting another cybperpunk scenario here. Lots of promises of deep interactivity and meaningful choices to end up being a pretty linear game that doesn't hold any interest story wise past the second playthrough. If I'm wrong I'll be happily surprised, and if I'm right at least I won't get dissappointed and cheated.
Something I really enjoy in games are when my decisions have a permanent physical impact on the world. Didn’t get much of that in Dying Light 1 and I still loved it to death so Dying Light 2 looks like it’s really going to be incredible.

Back in 2018 when you either negotiate with the survivors or kill them personally I would chose to negotiate because that would benefit the survivors more than the PK’s.
I'm confused about the guy jumping off in the trailer. I think he knows he can't die. My evidence? in the trailer, he has no claw marks right after he got scratched....... And so I think he didn't die at the end of the trailer.. Also, I really want the NPCs' to have S.T.A.L.K.E.R-like system.
The only concern I have is techland is trying to please everyone wich onfortanatly can't happen I am very optimistic and think there's something for everyone but there is also something's that some people won't like but I think if you bought the game you know what your gonna get. All that player choice we saw back in 2018 is gone. There has been nothing advertised about it in the last couple of years as this is no longer the selling point. If that choice was still in the game, it would have been marketed. It hasn't because it isn't there. Choices that have ramifications throughout the game means developers need to work that much harder to produce content and assets that may never be experienced by many of the player base, unless the player base is invested enough to experience it through multiple play throughs. This is the level of immersion that the player base wants but its very expensive to produce. Nonetheless, the game looks good, and hopefully will have a compelling story... Time will tell. I won't preorder only because it hurts the industry and so ill do my part in order to keep developers FOCUSED on what they should be doing to move the industry forward.

I still enjoyed how great some of the side quests were and certain choice in the game. It's definitely one of the most vertical open worlds I've ever played. So I would now compare it more to TW3 choices but less impactful.

With as much goes into optimizing modern games a Fallout New Vegas type of game just won't work on current gen cause the focus is too heavy on graphics these days. So all these were cut cause it's just not feasible to develop a good looking game, with relatively few bugs, lots of gamemplay systems, branching story, and good graphics. You'd kill your dev team with those goals as seen with TW3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Metro Exodus. Optimizing seems to be much easier of a process on "next gen" systems so I can see games like Fallout New Vegas returning on those systems. I can see games being developed with fewer bugs on those systems. The biggest problem with the PS4/Xbox One generation was that ambitions were too high for those consoles. Just not feasible in terms of development unless you have Rockstar/2k $$$ and are willing to overwork your employees to hell and back. So I think they made a good choice in parting ways with the New Vegas writer cause that guy's ambition will literally murder that dev team. One of the Metro Exodus lead devs literally had an aneurism due to being overworked. If they scaled back graphics I'm sure a lot of their ambitions would be feasible. So the final product made the choice of focusing on gameplay systems, graphics, and optimization over a complex story
I just want to kill zombies and do parkour if i don’t want to be locked out of content and have to make a new game to experience them. If I want a fallout new Vegas experience I would just play that but that’s my opinion
The first game had level progression. Weapon crafting. A three section skill tree. It had a skill tree for legendary rank. How exactly was the first game not in RPG?
I remember watching a video where a guy played through The Walking Dead Season 1 choosing all the decisions that made Lee an Asshole. Like not giving kids food or shouting at Kenny when he is about to shoot his own son to prevent him from turning. I wonder if you will be able to turn Aiden into such a monster that when he maybe manages to find his sister she is dead or hates him.

I liked the choices in the 2019 version where it impacts the whole city the choices now only seem to impact a building or two
Some will change the city some will change buildings it depends on the mission

Safe to say you were roughly right. Wayyyy better launch than CP tho, but choices only killed characters and never really changed the story too much.

I think without chris,it's extreamly hard for Techland to make DL 2 become another New vegas.As a fan of New vegas,I really really wise Techland can make it.But from the recent videos they just updataed,it's well-founded to think that they didn't make it.

Well I believe it’ll have enhanced textures, 4K 60, an option for Ray tracing, and possibly new content.

So I've heard, I just haven't played it yet.
With as much goes into optimizing modern games a Fallout New Vegas type of game just won't work on current gen cause the focus is too heavy on graphics these days. So all these were cut cause it's just not feasible to develop a good looking game, with relatively few bugs, lots of gamemplay systems, branching story, and good graphics. You'd kill your dev team with those goals as seen with TW3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Metro Exodus.
Optimizing seems to be much easier of a process on "next gen" systems so I can see games like Fallout New Vegas returning on those systems. I can see games being developed with fewer bugs on those systems. The biggest problem with the PS4/Xbox One generation was that ambitions were too high for those consoles. Just not feasible in terms of development unless you have Rockstar/2k $$$ and are willing to overwork your employees to hell and back.
So I think they made a good choice in parting ways with the New Vegas writer cause that guy's ambition will literally murder that dev team. One of the Metro Exodus lead devs literally had an aneurism due to being overworked. If they scaled back graphics I'm sure a lot of their ambitions would be feasible. So the final product made the choice of focusing on gameplay systems, graphics, and optimization over a complex story

I just want to kill zombies and do parkour if i don’t want to be locked out of content and have to make a new game to experience them. If I want a fallout new Vegas experience I would just play that but that’s my opinion

The first game had level progression. Weapon crafting. A three section skill tree. It had a skill tree for legendary rank. How exactly was the first game not in RPG?

Honestly the game play is kind of disappointing, but the story is massively disappointing, it just sucks.

I remember watching a video where a guy played through The Walking Dead Season 1 choosing all the decisions that made Lee an Asshole. Like not giving kids food or shouting at Kenny when he is about to shoot his own son to prevent him from turning. I wonder if you will be able to turn Aiden into such a monster that when he maybe manages to find his sister she is dead or hates him.
