⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE ⚠️ The high D note that creates the Cadd9 is controversial. It ispossible that John didn't actually play it and it is a resonant overtone created by that particular piano. I personally hear it very strongly in the recording and it sounds “right” to me, but to others, it will sound better without (you can play a middle C instead). Choose whichever you prefer!

Never get tired of seeing/hearing this lesson.
Woke up to my first earthquake Sunday night. I'd been dreaming I was running through Jerusalem and when I awoke to find my bed shaking--and I wondered if I was going nuts--I heard "Imagine" in some corner of my mind. And now here I am, almost finished learning to play and sing this song at a moment when it truly feels like a prayer. So happy I found your channel, I love the way you teach.
❤️
he is the BEST ! teacher !😁
John believed song can save the world. I don't know about entire world, but interior one I guess it can.
John Lennon was the prayer. You teach me something of this song
Thanks, Nate.
Thanks to you, now I can play "Imagine" of John Lennon!
It is one of my favorite songs, and I really wanted to learn it.
This is the first song that I have learned, and it makes me feel good.
Now my family will be proud of me, and I am not anymore feeling sad about my illness... I will use the time that I have now, to learn more songs and become a good player of piano! ❤❤🎉🎉
Amazing, you are an inspiration!! Keep it up! 🙏🙏🙏
There is no word I can’t find how much I appreciate your lecturing!❤
Wow, thank you!
The best Imagine lesson on the planet! ❤ and thanx with all my heart!
I absolutely applaud all your very hard work.. you help so many people.. you are a gift from the gods… credit to your mum and dad.. keep up the fantastic work
Thanks for the kind words! Cheers!
Nate, congrats. This is the best online tutorial I could find. Crystal clear, showing notes and chords, excellent songs masterfully taught. Keep up the great work !!!
Wow, thanks!
@@PianowithNate ditto! some are ok. some are too advanced. TYSM
I just got a keyboard, gonna slam my head against this until I learn it. Glad I stayed for the end, that was beautiful. I like to think that John would be proud. Subbed.
You got this! And thanks so much for the kind words
My friend, I'm 63 years old and have played guitar, mandolin and uke for years ( not that great!) but, despite my sons and wife playing piano, I've never even really tried. They are all at a music festival this weekend and I'm dog-sitting at home, so I thought- why not? Found your video, and here I am playing those famous opening bars! Thank you!!!
Awesome!! Enjoy :)
Nate, you have brought my playing on immeasurably. I remember listening to the album at school for hours on end over 50 years ago. This is one of my favourite songs, and now to be able to play it, and perform at open mic in a few weeks is just fantastic. I cannot thank you enough for your absolutely brilliant teaching videos. Take care, and I await more, although I have plenty of your previous ones to go on with.
This is so awesome to hear!! Let me know how the open mic goes!
Absolutely THE tutorial to learn this song with, and I've seen a few. So "lennonesque" and clearly explained without extraneous sidetracking, backtracking, or skipping!
Thanks for the kind words!!
So well done, Nate! And your cover of the entire song at the end is amazing :) Thanks for all your hard work and what you GIVE us for free. I plan to enroll in your course after my busy tax filing season. See ya soon.
Thanks for the kind words Michael!!
Nate you’re very talented and great at teaching!🎉
Thank you so much!
Hi Nate. Excellent !!! Very well presented. The most accurate tutorial of John Lennon's, Imagine. Thank you !!!
Wow, thanks!
How is it possible to make something so astoundingly beautiful with only a few elementary chords ??? It isn't. It simply isn't. I must be dreaming.
Such a good question...
I find your tutorial being the immaculate of all, at least for ‘Imagine’. Thank you Nate❤🎹🎼
My pleasure!
Thank you so much Nate. I am a beginner and I love the way you teach piano. For me it’s easier to learn a lesson with the sheet music rather than the chords on top of the words. Keep up the good works 👍🎶
If you've already got the sheet music skill, that makes sense! Cheers!
Wonderful, Nate. I'm excited for this one.
Best tutorial I could find for this song. Thanks!
I’m so glad!!
Gracias amigo, aprenderé este tema. Fortalece tu voz. Felicidades desde Chile
This is the best instruction I have found for this song. Think I got it. Thanks!

I NEEDED the EXACTLY way in which John plays it for a tribute! Ty❤
Cheers!

This is an excellent video! Thanks so much. Plus, I like the way you play the song all the way through at the end. I find it a great learning tool as I try to play along with exactly what you are playing, keeping time etc.
This is awesome to hear, Pete! Cheers :)
You are a true treasure and a great teacher. Should have 1 million subscribers
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
You are a legend!! Thanks so much for the tutorial...and the reverb vocals at the end was on point!!

Obrigado!! Suas informações são excelente, parabéns.
Great tutorials Nate! You're doing a great job showing the easy way to learn the piano
Glad to hear it!!!
Thank you Nate! What a great tutorial you teach! Plus...your voice is pretty good also! You make it look easy and enticing for beginners want to learn...
Thanks so much!!
I've checked out a few tutorials on this song. This is the best one I've found so far. I like that you're going over the fingering. Piano will be my 5th instrument. (I already pay guitar, mandolin, bass and harmonica.) Regarding your vocal technique, when you go into head voice, (a.k.a. Falsetto), tilt your head down to open your throat. You have 2 sets of vocal chords, an upper set and a lower set. In head voice, you are using the upper set of vocal chords and you need to lower your chin to open the throat. It's counterintuitive, but that's how it works.
Thanks for the kind words! And I appreciate the vocal feedback, I am definitely trying to improve in that regard - I actually have a voice lesson scheduled for tomorrow. Cheers!
Lovely, I must try hard to learn. Thank you so much for your tutorial.
Good luck and have fun!
Thanks so much for this lesson. I have struggled with other tutorials for this great song, but finally got it with yours.

Love your tutorial so much fun
So glad!
Awesome tutorial and dude you sound Mr. Lennon. You have a new sub here 👏🏽
Thanks so much!
Day two if learning piano at age 60. Saw a video showing the simple version with one base note played at the same time. I'm struggling with some muscle memory and hand placement. I love this song and prefer playing the same way recorded and this one is a good bit above but I will get it. I have played guitar for years and understand about chord prog, triads, scales circle of fifths and some of it has already helped. New subscriber and I appreciate this video and what you do.
Awesome! That's great that you are a guitar player, I definitely find that this chord-based approach to piano comes naturally to people who started on guitar. Thanks for the kind words!
Thank you so much! I tried other tutorials and no one got it exactly like this. Amazing to be able to play it i hope in a few days, or less if possible 😃
So great to hear this! Cheers!
So good thx👍👍🙏🙏
So much detail..You certainly do rock Nate..maybe one day do a tutorial on how you break a song down. Happy Christmas man
Thanks Brian!
Very nice nate
Thanks!
Great tutorial. Thanks
Cheers!
Thank you Nate.
My pleasure!
Thank you for all content
My pleasure !
Thanks so much, Nate. The best piano tutor so far. I hope you could teach the male piano version (lower key) of 'Easy on Me' of Adele by Boyce Ave. Kudos!
Thank you.
Another great tune in the bag. Thanks Nate for the super logical teaching method. Next challenge, could you do a tutorial for Elton's Rocket man please?
Thanks
Great teaching Nate, I’m almost there :)

Careless whisper would be incredible. Great song

Awesome, Nate! You're the best.
John Lennon was the best, but now you're it.
Thank you!
Request to the piano man:
Please, teach us how to play Billy Joel's "Piano Man"!
Please, please, please! 🎹🎶🙏
Hahaha aww thanks Bjorn!
Piano Man is a good idea, I've considered it in the past. I think i'd just have to simplify some parts so it's not too hard for the majority of my audience
Cool👍👍👍
The best I’ve found yet
🙏
Nice play with the vocals at the end...
Thanks!!
Nate, thanks for helping me clean up this tune. Side note, there is a second piano from a session man playing along.
Glad to hear it! And yes, I do realize that now and feel a little silly that I didn't at the time of making this video
I learned let it be and Fourth of July cause of this channel, much love. I’m kinda interested in this Beatles song called “ For No One” . Might be interesting to learn that song
Thats awesome to hear! And hmm, that's a really good suggestion. I used to play that on piano back in the day. Putting it on my list!
Hello. Nate. Maybe you would consider doing "Knocking on Heavens door." I know it is a relatively simple song, but it would be nice if you were to make it accessible. I can't find a good version of it online that really explain the timing, the rhythm, or a melody line to go with it. Thanks for all the great songs you have done so far.
Good thought! I do have it on my list and your comment is a good reminder...it is indeed super simple and I need to think of a cool angle for it...
Nate, all your tutorials have helped me so much! I really appreciate your channel! I was wondering if you could do, When She Loved Me by Sarah McLachlan?
Thanks for the kind words, and I'll check it out!
I've just started relearning piano after several decades of not playing, as my young daughters have started lessons. Your channel is really brilliant... thank you for all your dedication and excellent teaching approach ❤
Do you have the sheet music for this? I find reading notes easier than memorizing chords. 😊
This is awesome to hear! I dont have sheet music for it, as I put it together by ear. That said, my version is very accurate to what is played on the original recording, so if you search for accompaniment sheet music for that song, I bet you'll find something pretty similar!
Brilliant tutorials
Could you do
Supertramps breakfast in america & Terry Jacks seasons in the sun🙏🙏
Great suggestions!
This is great, thank you. I don’t hear that high D in the original though.
Feel free to leave it out! It's quite subtle on the recording
onhh wow thats rite on ive been doin it wrong,,thankx you got a great ear,,im just lazy but that lennon he 's a cheeky one great job
A cheeky one indeed! Glad my video helped
Awesome as usual, You’re such a great teacher. What about “the look of love” by Burt Bacharach? Or an accompaniment for Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile” both are super popular and with your skillful approach, accessible to everybody .
I'll check these out!!
Thankyou so much for the free chords ❤ can u please do gospel songs "Count your blessings"
kindly play IF by Bread. Thanks bro
Thank you one of the better tutorials I have watch - teach the left and right hand separately then together is perfect - I would love it if you taught Elton Johns Sorry Seems the Hardest Word
Thanks so much for the kind words! Glad you like my approach. That's a cool suggestion as well
