I think this comic is an interesting take on Chara’s possible backstory. It has reasoning for their hatred for humanity, shows the flowers in the village, references “sparing” and “mercy”, and so on, not to mention it’s original and genuinely interesting to read. Kudos to the creator.

This actually hit me kind of hard. I lost a real friend (they are still alive as far as I know) to a cult like this one. He really wasn't allowed to do a lot of fun things. I actually even went to a few of their "meetings" for the sake of our friendship. But at one meeting his group accused me of being a non believer, to which I confirmed and said I was there for my friend. So they kicked me out (probably for the best really). A few days later, at school (after years of childhood friendship) my friend said that I and my family are evil and deserve to burn in hell and that he didn't want anything to do with me anymore. I was pretty mad at the time but now I don't even blame him, he was born into it, so he never really stood a chance, but it still sucks. I think he is in another country at this point.
I'd say this backstory is surprisingly well thought out! Everything about Chara is given a reason to be. Even them saying "SINCE WHEN WERE YOU THE ONE IN CONTROL?" has gained a rather cathartic effect.

Tbh I really like this idea. It definitely explains why Chara was (implied) suicidal and their hatred for humanity. It’s sad that they’re seen as the villain now by some of the fandom, such a misunderstood character
Chara’s hatred for humanity is understandable with this, but Chara has done some questionable things to monsters too by laughing at Asgore getting sick and assisting the player on the genocide run by continuing to narrate. I have an additional headcanon that justifies Chara’s actions there too, although it’s a little… out there.
Btw the laugh was a nervous laugh and I'm pretty sure it was said Chara felt horrible for the mistake. Depending on what the player does influences Chara and Chara knows you can just start over technically and destroy the world by resetting. In my free time, when I don't have access to a device or a book, I now imagine countless scenarios where Frisk somehow time travels back, and finds Chara. They either befriend her, or just go to one of the Morning Meetings and reveal that they are the Player, or just murder everyone. :)

While him calling Chara and the cultists freaks may frame him as a bad person, that boy with the toy was actually one of the better characters in this. Despite his parents telling him to stay away from any cultists or their children, he tried to become friends with a young girl from the cult. You can't really blame him for being rude after Chara told him that he's screwed up for controlling the toy and kicked it. While it wasn't right for him to call Chara a freak, at least he tried to connect with her instead of just gossiping like the other townsfolk.
Considering most kids probably would have started a fight over that, the fact that he didn't meant he's probably a good kid. But upset his birthday present got kicked by a kid who comes from a community the townsfolk consider freaks.
