I heard this song on New Year's Eve 23/24 while I was working with a colleague for whom I had developed feelings earlier in the year. He chose another woman over me and she promptly broke his heart so our friendship has been complicated. He has recently shown interest in having a relationship with me since their breakup, but hearing this song makes me remember that I deserve to be someone's first and only choice, not just the consolation prize or backup plan they settle for when the relationship with their first choice falls apart. Beautiful song and I still hold out hope to meet a man who will love me like that.
