Went 2 years ago and visited family I have never met! I'm from America so it was a culture shock to say the least. But I loved every minute of it. I met my nanas side of the family who all live in Malta, meeting them for the first time it was like we knew each other for ever! Can't wait to go back next year. paċi✌

My grandfather was Maltese and he was a fisherman. He worked out of Valletta harbour. He loved fishing the seas and would go to Sicily and especially Tunisia. He found Sicily quite quer and foreign. But he loved sailing to Tunis port and talking with the Natives as Maltese is a dialect of Tunisian Arabic. One day he clambered into his little fishing boat and pushed out of Valletta harbour. He intended to visit his Tunisian girlfriend in Tunis. He sadly died when traveling due to heart attack. His boat floated all the way to Tunis port where they found his dead body. The Tunisians recovered his corpse in there. They said 'last prayers' in Tunisian which is so similar to old Maltese. They set his fishing boat alight with his body inside it and pushed it out to sea (funeral at sea) uniquely Maltese and Tunisian tradition. His body and boat just burned and they all chanted in Arabic. It was like an affirmation of our Arabic roots. Set the touch paper and my grandfather was sent to heaven from an Arab land by his Arab cousins.
I'm Maltese born abroad and will finally be able to move to Malta soon. Looking forward to it even more, after seeing your video. I plan to spend my retirement eating pastizzi and exploring temples. Much more fun than freezing half to death where I am now.

I'm English and I have been to Malta, I had a really good time and I would definitely go back again, In the UK, its cold most of the time a really hot day for us which is very rare would be around 24 degrees (and that's when its classed as being hot in the UK) I remember getting off the Plane for the first time in Luqa Airport, and the heat just hits you, It was the first time in my life I experienced heat like that, and the sunlight was amazing I experienced temp of 30 degrees average up to 35 and I think even 38 degrees during the week that I was there, and the Pastizzi was nice, good street food and really cheap, we don't get food that cheap here in the UK, its probably only the equivalent of a couple of pence here.. when I was there I noticed a couple of Australians on holiday there, (and that seems like a really nice country) so it made me think what they see in the place, since they also come from a hot country which seems a bit better then the UK, but after experiencing Malta for one week, I have to say the people are great, and so is the country, its a nation of natural beauty and I am glad I went, I'm also glad I never experienced any cockroaches lol like you mentioned in your video, but I was only there for a week, I do like the lifestyle over there, so much better but then again I was there on Holiday, I am not sure what it would be like doing a 9-5 and balancing both of what I did on holiday, while also working a full time job and living there, I did get sun burnt, a little bit I'm not used to that much sun, I still have my marks now from where I was wearing my sandals and its been like a couple of months since I last went, but I did enjoy it, and I would do it all again, I suppose if I was there longer, id get use to the sun, eventually.

local.hero We have to learn Maltese and English since they are our official languages and also a third language of our choice between Italian, French, German and Spanish. A lot of people choose Italian just because we are exposed to a lot of Italian media and simply because we are culturally tied to them in many ways. I mean geographically we're right under Italy.

Congratulations on this presentation...... there is wit and calibre in many ways and there is a great comedy potential. This video as it is not only informative for the tourists but also for the locals, and I feel like making some comments. 1. You are absolutely correct about the manner you presented the rain activity , and it was important and very thoughtful of you to mention the floods, but you should have commented on the lack of water storage maintenance programme we have and the excellent manner in which we keep our roads so when it rains, after holding the traffic for hours, how all the water drains into the sea so we have to use expensive osmosis plants to purify water from the sea, about 4 kilowatt hour for every cubic metre. 1.5. I like the 1.5 information about the Qormi Floodwater channel, which I know so well, and you could have mentioned that in Malta coffins are transferred using the floodwater channel during those four days when it rains. This is not shown well in your photographs. 2. About the churches, well, after you mentioned the 365 churches, that great sigh of relief on your face that followed, seem to give the impression that our ancestors were rather extravagant on religion and then you proceeded to say, that you do not understand the reason why there are so many churches in Malta, as one can DRIVE from one end of the island to the other in one and a half hours. If you were my age which is near enough eighty years, you would have known that we did not drive but we walked as we were so poor and so walking from one end of Malta to the other would have taken us at least 16 hours. Now churches were not meant for religious activities, but merely for intelligent people to show their capacity to create good art and nice architecture. At this stage I would like to point out the Santa Maria del Fiuore in Florence, St Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Cathedral in London and also St Peter at the Vatican. There were intelligent people like Michael Angleo and others as Fillipo Brunellesci which kept themselves busy as intelligent men in Malta did. In those days there were no Mobile phones and computers, televisions power stations, cars, to keep the local intelligent men busy designing and making them while the others less intelligent, using them, no, in those days intelligent men built masterpieces in churches while the other men had nothing to do but to chase very good looking women like you and make lots children. We all occupied ourselves in Malta. So when you spoke about churches you could have added that each church has different architecture and in Malta we have cathedrals as Mdina and Valletta and one of the largest domes in the world at Mosta . So churches were useful to keep intelligent men making them and women decorating them and so Maltese people had an excuse to leave behind them great works of art, which many of the new nations as USA do lack........... churches have artistic and history written in their architecture which tourists would like. These days people seem to go to Paceville and just drink. So you can have another deep breath and think about that and incidentally building a church needed much more intelligence, time and effort than making a light hearted four minute video on UA-cam, where your smile does brighten our homes, but it does not contain the masterpieces and the works of art that our churches contain does it? Madam, you can have another big sigh after hearing that, but you look honest and modest enough to admit it, I am sure of that, for after all you are an intelligent young woman with young sparkling eyes which see the world without the experience needed to understand it. So much for the number of churches and if you understood the circumstance and efforts by those great men and women who built them, your eyes will open wide and not close up accompanied by shaking your head as you did at 1:38. I am very confident that you understand what I am trying to convey to you. 3. I like your presentation of the hypogeum. It was short and brief and effective and Yes, give it to them pyramid lovers, suck it, suck it........That right hand of yours certainly meant business as you shook it and that is good strength shown by a public speaker. Some politicians do the same when they speak in public, but they do not do it after they are elected in parliament. Good effect however. 4. You represented the cockroaches residing at Valletta excellently but they are not exclusive to Valletta but anywhere where there are drains and lose manhole covers, especially in summer heat. The three hundred monuments you mentioned were not given any prominence about their details and perhaps some details of St John cathedral and St Paul's cathedral and the bastions and St Elemo the langues of the knights of St John should have been given a little prominence to raise the standard of presentation and let tourists know that there are a few other intelligent inhabitants at Valletta other than cockroaches, who designed a few very majestic ornaments rather than cockroaches living as parasites around the modern restaurants with tables occupying the pavements intended for pedestrians. Incidentally the cockroach which flew to your face was very intelligent and it must have been the public relation officer for the cockroach fraternity as he saw in your vibrant personality a profitable occasion and so he made sure that one day when the opportunity arises you will give his fraternity a good mention and greater publicity on UA-cam rather than lying low in the streets of Valletta. 5. You are correct about obesity in Malta, but it is not the country that is obese, it is the people who are obese and probably one can say, that with most people in general, if you multiply their weight by their intelligence, the answer is a constant. So it is useful to know a little mathematics too as mathematics can describe the social performance in any country. You did not need to apologise for obesity and the fact that " we eat a lot", You do not seem to eat a lot and I certainly do not eat a lot and neither does my wife and family, and as far as pastizzi and bigilla, well everything in moderation is good for you, and with bigilla made out of 'ful' its a good meal for those who are not 'fools' As far as other meals are concerned, Maltese Minestra mhawra b-kollox and Patata l-forn, bragioli, zalzett frisk, and fish as xi lampuka and xi sicca , qarnita, klamari, cerna, xi laringa Maltikjja jew bajtra tax-xewk, well any King would envy my mother's menu, even during the last war when she had to walk from Vittoriosa to Mqabba and back to get her ingredients. As I said before, we did not drive in those days, as you hinted earlier in your video. 6. About being small, I wished you qualified us being small in what direction, as that could be misinterpreted in what it is we have, that is small in size, The average height of a Maltese person is about 5 feet 8 inches for a man and about 5 feet 5 inches for a woman, and with over 450,000 roaming on an area of 20 by 11 miles that is 220 square miles, well we need to be very patient with each other, but that is not so and the vocabulary used by the average person is enriched with many adjectives which are not normally found in a dictionary, but which incoming people learn very fast. Through my long life, I liked people with wit and a sense of humour. After these long years I still cannot make up my mind if wit is a sign of intelligence or just the sign of an insecurity in people who think that they are smart. In Malta we need to improve our sense of humour to a more elegant one where the wit is in the anecdotes and not in the swear or four letter words used. I believe the standard of comedy which I saw in Comedy Knights was great and needed a high level of intelligence. Jo Caruana and Pia Zammit are so neat in their vocabulary, attire and hairstyle, fingernails and their general projection and feminine appearance is of the highest standards, neat, elegant and trim and proper when they present themselves in public and they could be instrumental to increase the Maltese comedy to the highest level. They take nothing for granted and in any of their show they go into every detail of what a public presentation requires. It is not easy but I believe we can better our standards in Malta in many many directions. Ok so I stopped watching when she started talking a load of rubbish about the Rainfall in Malta! Malta has 90 Days a year of precipitation which is about 600mm annually which drops over the Maltese Islands. Drainage is a huge issue in Malta as builders for many years have built, built and built without taking into account correct drainage. Just ask anyone who lives on Valley Road!

:) Easy just search religion history and what happened next that time there was no religion freedom everything what is not christian or not catholic is bad even between cathol &chtist that time there wasn't anything about jewish religion, what is noticeable is Andalucia(spain) one of the first had multicultural multi religion society that time a goldenage for jewish religion in andalucia there was one people and 3 or 4 religions that time chris&cathol seen as 2 same happen in ierland&netherlands. Malta is in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea directly south of Italy and north of Libya. The island is 27 kilometres (17 mi) long and 14.5 kilometres (9 mi) wide, with a total area of 246 square kilometres (95 sq mi) Gozo is another near island about 13 kilometers (8mi) long and same measures as wide.
How long it takes to go from one tip of the island to the other one depends on what sort of travel mode used, and whether you have a rest or not, while:-
crawling, limping with a stick in hand, normal walking, running, using a wheelchair, riding a donkey, riding a horse, cycling, motorcycling, riding cars or buses, in traffic during the day and without traffic during the night.
One cannot measure accurately the size of any country with respect to how long it takes to travel from one end to the other. Malta has a lot of history starting from the cart tracks dating back to thousands of years BC to Romans, Arabs, Italy, The Knights of St John, French, British and local governments. It is said that Malta has one of the greatest use computer networks. It is a nice place, but it is becoming overpopulated, too much traffic, and land is being overused losing too much of the countryside. Since it joined the EU, and accepting other immigration, Malta is losing its past culture and modern architecture is not being matched with the old classical architecture.

It is very encouraging to see a local witty, intelligent, charming, good looking young woman with such a vibrant personality presenting such useful information about Malta in such an informal pleasant light manner. I must say that she shows good talent which at the moment I am comparing with other local brilliant girls in Malta as Jo Caruana and others as shown in the comedy knights on ua-cam.com/video/TWO4Ai4x6XA/v-deo.html I must say that this is good entertainment. Congratulations on this presentation...... there is wit and calibre in many ways and there is a great comedy potential.
This video as it is not only informative for the tourists but also for the locals, and I feel like making some comments.
1. You are absolutely correct about the manner you presented the rain activity , and it was important and very thoughtful of you to mention the floods, but you should have commented on the lack of water storage maintenance programme we have and the excellent manner in which we keep our roads so when it rains, after holding the traffic for hours, how all the water drains into the sea so we have to use expensive osmosis plants to purify water from the sea, about 4 kilowatt hour for every cubic metre.
1.5. I like the 1.5 information about the Qormi Floodwater channel, which I know so well, and you could have mentioned that in Malta coffins are transferred using the floodwater channel during those four days when it rains. This is not shown well in your photographs.
2. About the churches, well, after you mentioned the 365 churches, that great sigh of relief on your face that followed, seem to give the impression that our ancestors were rather extravagant on religion and then you proceeded to say, that you do not understand the reason why there are so many churches in Malta, as one can DRIVE from one end of the island to the other in one and a half hours. If you were my age which is near enough eighty years, you would have known that we did not drive but we walked as we were so poor and so walking from one end of Malta to the other would have taken us at least 16 hours. Now churches were not meant for religious activities, but merely for intelligent people to show their capacity to create good art and nice architecture. At this stage I would like to point out the Santa Maria del Fiuore in Florence, St Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Cathedral in London and also St Peter at the Vatican. There were intelligent people like Michael Angleo and others as Fillipo Brunellesci which kept themselves busy as intelligent men in Malta did. In those days there were no Mobile phones and computers, televisions power stations, cars, to keep the local intelligent men busy designing and making them while the others less intelligent, using them, no, in those days intelligent men built masterpieces in churches while the other men had nothing to do but to chase very good looking women like you and make lots children. We all occupied ourselves in Malta. So when you spoke about churches you could have added that each church has different architecture and in Malta we have cathedrals as Mdina and Valletta and one of the largest domes in the world at Mosta . So churches were useful to keep intelligent men making them and women decorating them and so Maltese people had an excuse to leave behind them great works of art, which many of the new nations as USA do lack........... churches have artistic and history written in their architecture which tourists would like. These days people seem to go to Paceville and just drink. So you can have another deep breath and think about that and incidentally building a church needed much more intelligence, time and effort than making a light hearted four minute video on UA-cam, where your smile does brighten our homes, but it does not contain the masterpieces and the works of art that our churches contain does it? Madam, you can have another big sigh after hearing that, but you look honest and modest enough to admit it, I am sure of that, for after all you are an intelligent young woman with young sparkling eyes which see the world without the experience needed to understand it. So much for the number of churches and if you understood the circumstance and efforts by those great men and women who built them, your eyes will open wide and not close up accompanied by shaking your head as you did at 1:38. I am very confident that you understand what I am trying to convey to you.
3. I like your presentation of the hypogeum. It was short and brief and effective and Yes, give it to them pyramid lovers, suck it, suck it........That right hand of yours certainly meant business as you shook it and that is good strength shown by a public speaker. Some politicians do the same when they speak in public, but they do not do it after they are elected in parliament. Good effect however.
4. You represented the cockroaches residing at Valletta excellently but they are not exclusive to Valletta but anywhere where there are drains and lose manhole covers, especially in summer heat. The three hundred monuments you mentioned were not given any prominence about their details and perhaps some details of St John cathedral and St Paul's cathedral and the bastions and St Elemo the langues of the knights of St John should have been given a little prominence to raise the standard of presentation and let tourists know that there are a few other intelligent inhabitants at Valletta other than cockroaches, who designed a few very majestic ornaments rather than cockroaches living as parasites around the modern restaurants with tables occupying the pavements intended for pedestrians. Incidentally the cockroach which flew to your face was very intelligent and it must have been the public relation officer for the cockroach fraternity as he saw in your vibrant personality a profitable occasion and so he made sure that one day when the opportunity arises you will give his fraternity a good mention and greater publicity on UA-cam rather than lying low in the streets of Valletta.
5. You are correct about obesity in Malta, but it is not the country that is obese, it is the people who are obese and probably one can say, that with most people in general, if you multiply their weight by their intelligence, the answer is a constant. So it is useful to know a little mathematics too as mathematics can describe the social performance in any country. You did not need to apologise for obesity and the fact that " we eat a lot", You do not seem to eat a lot and I certainly do not eat a lot and neither does my wife and family, and as far as pastizzi and bigilla, well everything in moderation is good for you, and with bigilla made out of 'ful' its a good meal for those who are not 'fools' As far as other meals are concerned, Maltese Minestra mhawra b-kollox and Patata l-forn, bragioli, zalzett frisk, and fish as xi lampuka and xi sicca , qarnita, klamari, cerna, xi laringa Maltikjja jew bajtra tax-xewk, well any King would envy my mother's menu, even during the last war when she had to walk from Vittoriosa to Mqabba and back to get her ingredients. As I said before, we did not drive in those days, as you hinted earlier in your video.
6. About being small, I wished you qualified us being small in what direction, as that could be misinterpreted in what it is we have, that is small in size, The average height of a Maltese person is about 5 feet 8 inches for a man and about 5 feet 5 inches for a woman, and with over 450,000 roaming on an area of 20 by 11 miles that is 220 square miles, well we need to be very patient with each other, but that is not so and the vocabulary used by the average person is enriched with many adjectives which are not normally found in a dictionary, but which incoming people learn very fast.
Through my long life, I liked people with wit and a sense of humour. After these long years I still cannot make up my mind if wit is a sign of intelligence or just the sign of an insecurity in people who think that they are smart. In Malta we need to improve our sense of humour to a more elegant one where the wit is in the anecdotes and not in the swear or four letter words used.
I believe the standard of comedy which I saw in Comedy Knights was great and needed a high level of intelligence. Jo Caruana and Pia Zammit are so neat in their vocabulary, attire and hairstyle, fingernails and their general projection and feminine appearance is of the highest standards, neat, elegant and trim and proper when they present themselves in public and they could be instrumental to increase the Maltese comedy to the highest level. They take nothing for granted and in any of their show they go into every detail of what a public presentation requires. It is not easy but I believe we can better our standards in Malta in many many directions. See the following.

Ok so I stopped watching when she started talking a load of rubbish about the Rainfall in Malta! Malta has 90 Days a year of precipitation which is about 600mm annually which drops over the Maltese Islands. Drainage is a huge issue in Malta as builders for many years have built, built and built without taking into account correct drainage. Just ask anyone who lives on Valley Road!
