Have both lights and to me the EDC18 is a MUCH better (more dependable and user friendly) light. And as you said in your excellent review, the glow-in-the-dark diffuser is surprisingly awesome. With it on, it becomes the perfect night light, as well as walk around the house at night light.
Great review. Ordered the Nichia a few days ago. Amazing that you can get a light like this for $39. Hard to believe really when you think where we were 5 or 10 years ago.
An update on the newer batches of the fw3a. Lumintop has fastened the switch and it doesn't just fall off anymore when you open the tail cap. I just had mine delivered a few days ago.. I'm eyeing the titanium version this time around..
An even newer update, got mine last week, they engraved the bunny logo on the button switch, put a "Hot" warning label and "FW3A" at the front bezel and etched a serial number on the tailcap, but they went back using the Carclo optic and a glass lens.
The 219C cant handle full battery voltage so the FW3A and EDC18 use a different firmware if equipped with the 219C. Because of this output should be less when running a fully charged battery.
Another very helpful review. You mention that you like the 219c 4000k a bit more than the SST-20 4000k. I'm considering these two LED's and was wondering if you could provide a bit more info about the differences and why you prefer the one. Thanks

Titanium looks great but doesn't dissipate heat as well, so expect worse runtimes

The EDC05 is an awesome little light, 800 lumens in that tiny little body...the absolute perfect EDC in my opinion.

That Lumintop EDC 18 surely doesn't have a reverse polarity protection just like FW3A.

Nichia are a little more diffused a little more rosey depending on the bin. Both are good, and it's down to personal preference
Not all FW3A's use a real Carclo optic. Most of the new lights I have seen use the Chinese copy.
Yep this is true, my aluminum one is a real Carclo as it was early.
