Next time you change hydraulic filter. Take a shop vacuum and stick end of hose in where you pour hydraulic oil in and turn it on. It pulls a vacuum and helps keep oil loss to a minimum. Great you 2 can work together and get a long good. Always a learning curve when working on your stuff when you don't work on equipment every day. Always blow air filter from inside out. Not outside in. Have a great day be safe.
You can actually use the engine oil cap on the hydraulic fill port. The engine oil cap has a gasket on it which creates an air tight seal and creates the vacuum as the filters are released.
Chris, you’re surely a blessed man. You’ve introduced us to several of your great family members engaging in shared interests and outdoor activities. You have a highly productive firewood business and faithful customers. You possess a tremendous work ethic and physical ability to keep going. But probably one of your greatest blessings are friends who are willing to lend a hand, engage in good natured ribbing, and even share their toys, like Tony does. All for unlimited free water and a stick of gum🤔. Amazing
I do on my oil changes my hydrostatic changes and front axle. I flush out the oil but freshen and a big factor. You have to check the torque on the wheels the loader and everything I do all that but you guys are doing a good job. Great video. 👍
You are 1 of the hards working guys that I know of in the firewood business I have been doing it 17 years 7 years the way you do it and 10 with a dyna SC-16 processor and I do it all my self and you by far out work me it will keep you young
I used the Dremel today to sharpen an old chain I was planning to replace. After finishing it as you demonstrated I tested it on some Maple logs. I was thrilled. It cut through Maple like a knife through soft butter. Thank you for demonstrating this.
Chris just a Sugestion. Once a month or week pressure wash the dirt buildup out of the moving parts. Tractor and parts will thank you. We have farm tractors with 13000+ hours on them and there is no dirt buildup on any of them. And it makes maintenance a breeze. Nive Kioti I just purchased a DK 5320 myself. Got to do my 50 hour service now. Thanks for the video
I also used a paint marker and painted up the dip stick tips on the transmission engine oil and front end so it was easier to see the oil level. The oils are so clear it is hard for me to see the actual level. This little hack help out checking the levels!
As a ck4010own hst heads up and check for loose fittings, I had a leak right above my rear axle, turns out the hydro line loosened up, I went through with adjustable wrenches and channel locks and made sure I checked all the fittings I could access without taking things apart.
I agree 100%. I love working on my equipment and and there’s no better way to keep a finger on the “pulse” of your machine. I often find other areas that need a dressing while doing unrelated tasks.
The front drive shaft for the 4wd runs through that gap in the oil pan. Most of the time the deep part of the pan is offset to one side of the shaft, interesting design.
Tony is da man!! At some point, Tony's learned to turn necessity into a virtue. Recycling oil is another virtue. I'd keep some for odd job oiling, like the splitter rails. I use the WD40 to sort of lead or wick the heavier oil into the tight spots. An extended wand and a bigger air compressor are necessities. They'll speed you up, save your time, and do a better job. In a situation, ask yourself, "What would Tony do?"
Good morning Chris!! 😀😀 The reason why you have 2 drain plugs on the oil pan is because the front driveshaft goes through the channel in the middle. I would be a little nervous about your front axle using fluid. If it's leaking you need them to fix it under warranty. It's probably leaking down into the final drives behind the wheels. But it's really not supposed to and there should be a way to also check the level in the lower final drives. It might be all in one and if it is it probably wasn't full from the factory. Just keep a eye on it. When it's finally full it should stop going down. I usually have the dealer do my first service on a new machine so they can't say you did something wrong and then not cover it under warranty if you were to have a problem with it. I also usually write the hours on the filters. With the amount of hours you put on it. It might not need a oil change for over a year or more. Take care my friends!! TTYL!! Logger Al
Diesel always looks dirty because some soot passes by the piston rings after combustion. It’s not a problem and totally normal. The oil pan is split to allow the driveshaft to pass through it, 2WD models have a standard oil pan.
I started doing maintenance and repairs on my car when I was a poor college student and just kept doing it. My service is due now and I payed like 100€ for everything, including things for 2 small repairs. Would have costed me probably close to 500€ if done in a shop. I do a lot of things, but not everything. I estimate it to take 3 hours. If convert it to hourly pay, it's amazing! This way I was able to afford a car and nowadays I can buy TOYS instead ;)
The 50 hr engine oil change is because of the use of break-in oil in the engine, and the first were in of the transmission the metal particles that come free collect in the filter
A fun episode of the Chris and Tony comedy mechanics show. It looks like you two did a pretty good job. That Tony sure has the toys! He even had new custom fit cardboards, not like the old box pieces I have to use. You might keep your eye on old Tony when it comes to checkin' your oil...just sayin. He was pretty good at blowing that filter off. Just kiddin' with ya Tony...you da man! The only thing missing was a couple of cold ones. 😎 CYN & GNI
Chris.. No shame in asking or paying for a service if it's something above your knowledge.. I am a a mechanical mind when it comes to electronics I know a little but lost after a certain point.. Nice seeing Tony was willing to help out today..
Whew.... I would reconsider using any brushes around radiators. The cooling fins are very soft and easily bent or damaged, which will restrict air flow and also trap more debris. Avoid bending them at all costs. A water hose is a better choice, BUT only after You've sprayed in down completely with a biodegradable degreaser. A kioti tractor shop mechanic explained this way. He said if you are busy hogging, the radiator will catch particles of the cuttings, some of which may have sap in them which causes that debris to be sticky. If you hit it with just water, it'll dry hard and cake up making it more difficult to clean which inhibits cooling as well. Use a degreaser that will not damage aluminum, spray in on generously, let it soak in, then wash it off with a garden hose with a gentle flow. Should be like new when you are done. Let it dry well before going back into a field bush hogging again. Would have liked to see you service the fuel filter. One more thing. Change out that hydraulic fluid in your front end asap! Put the recommended 80/90 gear oil in there before it damages your front wheel seals.
Looks like you guys did all the tractor maintenance on my birthday! Did I need to know how to do all that with a tractor? Probably not. Am I glad I watched it? Heck yes I am! Love seeing you guys have fun even if it's changing a tractor's oil. LOL
You need to replace that air filter soon. Blowing off a paper element filter helps a little bit, but the fines are embedded in the filter media. See if you can find a case of filters for cheaper than buying individual.
I was told when young that when an older worker made a suggestion on how to do something listen. The may have experienced the task and it will be less painful.
According to the Kioti owners manual it says to change the HST filter every 200 hrs and change the HST fluid only if contaminated or there’s been a repair- for what its worth. Also after adding axle case oil it says to wait 15 minuted before rechecking and re-adding more gear oil. You may have over filled it? Thanks for the video.
I may know🤔 the answer to why that oil pan has two drain plugs. It gives the resemblance of milking a cow of chocolate milk 🤣😂🤣 great comical video Chris 👍👍 Make sure you pull out your 2 sticks of gum for , you know 🤣😂 payment!
Tip; when you clean that air filter move away from the tractor. you put all that dust into the air and there is no longer a filter on the intake. She is ready to go now, good maintenance will keep her alive for a long time !!
I bought a dk4210se recently and checked the front axle at 19 hours. I had to put in 2.5 quarts of oil in mine. Guess it’s just the way it comes. Lol sadly my dealer gave me the wrong owner manual and I’m waiting for the correct one to come. He ordered it. Anyway I’m curious to where all the grease fittings are? I’ve been getting the ones I’ve found. Even the random one under the rear sheet metal. Looks like it’s for the three point raise lower. Anyway thanks and enjoy.
Tony's a good guy to have around! I don't do any of my own oil changes either, its not worth it for me to be down an hour or so, then find a place to recycle the oil etc. I get my diesel oil changed at the dealer for 180 bucks and gas engines cost 60 bucks or so, so not worth it for me.
Totally respect that you don’t want to fiddle with it. I do my own maintenance because I enjoy it and absolutely do not trust that all techs know or care what they’re doing. I’ve seen some real nonsense that gives me very little confidence. That being said it takes me 20 minutes to do oil it’s so simple on tractors vs some cars/trucks. Cost for oil/filter on my Mahindra is about $75. Saving $100 to do something I love means I can waste that money on more unnecessary crap I don’t need. 😂
Wash the dirt out of radiator with soapy water and rinse with garden hose. Blowing it should be from the inside out then washing with water. Also air cleaner should be blown from inside out aswell.
I ordered a set of diamond pattern chains for the front tires and rear duo grips for the rear, the front chains ride nice and smooth, provide great traction on pavement and improve steering with the snow pusher. The rear chains make the tractor like a sherman tank, but you will need new kidneys if your on pavement or hard pack because the ride is very rough, I only put the rear chains on when we are getting +15" heavy wet snow, anything else the front chains work fine by themselves.
On the filter, put the replacement date for when you did it and hr time of replacement. On the bottom of the filter, so you visually have the information. If I don’t have the experience of something like changing the oil etc then I’d gladly pay for it. Poke a air hole in the handle of oil bottle on the opposite side of the pour spout.
Tony's a funny guy and a good friend. Weird, I thought all Kioti's had inner and outer air filter elements? Should be blowing air through the air filter from the inside out, not outside in. Split oil pan is to allow the driveline to be tucked up higher and increase engine oil capacity. When it comes to equipment maintenance, my philosophy has always been lube is cheap and parts are expensive (not to mention labor), so I always cut the service intervals by half, AND I send an oil sample to a lab for analysis. Not only do they check for all wear metals, they also check for other contaminants such as fuel, coolant, silicone. I still spend less than others because I do all my own maintenance and repair work. I know it is way overkill, but it helps me to sleep at night lol. And my stuff last literally forever...
Hey Guys, great videos. Why can't you remove the vented filler cap for the hydraulic fill tube and clean it. Once the fill hole is clean cover it with duct tape. this should create a vacuum. There should be minimum fluid loss.
y there 2 drain plug is the pan has 2 sumps and as u can see in the midle of the oil pan your front drive shaps go thouw that y need to drian plus and the oil sillter seal only need oil on one side going to the block to make it not stick and turn with out hurting the seal
Another just thinking out loud. First and foremost. With the exception of the hunting deer kill, I have enjoyed each and every video you have posted. Now may I inquire on your decision to purchase a smallish tractor????. I'm not an expert but in my view it seems that a skid- steer would be more useful, maneuverable and flexible for your application wile providing the same type of functionality. Just curious, your thoughts.
Tony should get 5 sticks of Gum for this Job. Hey Tony, you should get $250.00 at least for all of your hard work. Dirty oil.....WOW ! I always take the oil filter off first, and then drain the oil pan. Some of that dirty oil goes down into the pan, this way you get all the dirty oil out. Hey Chris, you can always add a pc. of rubber inter tube around the filter if it slips in the wrench. Always tight from the factory when then are putting them together. I think Tony should get dinner from Taco Bell as well. Good Man TONY !!!!! Chris, you need to pressure wash all the mud off before winter comes. I would of had that machine all washed off before Tony got there. A Clean Kioti is a Happy Kioti ! 🤣
Chris! There are several things about your channel that make it my favorite. One of them is your music selection. How do you find the music that you choose to play?
Next time you change hydraulic filter. Take a shop vacuum and stick end of hose in where you pour hydraulic oil in and turn it on. It pulls a vacuum and helps keep oil loss to a minimum. Great you 2 can work together and get a long good. Always a learning curve when working on your stuff when you don't work on equipment every day. Always blow air filter from inside out. Harbor freight has a wand extension. It'll get inside that fikter easy. I use it to blow out my vacuum cleaner filters lol

Yes, I am going to get one!
You can actually use the engine oil cap on the hydraulic fill port. The engine oil cap has a gasket on it which creates an air tight seal and creates the vacuum as the filters are released.

When you look the front drive shaft runs through the gap created in the oil pan otherwise they would have to lower or offset the drive shaft
Got it!
Those dang virgin filters hang on for dear life! I had a couple that literally started to crush before they finally gave way. Nice work

Hey Guys, great videos. Why can't you remove the vented filler cap for the hydraulic fill tube and clean it. Once the fill hole is clean cover it with duct tape. this should create a vacuum. There should be minimum fluid loss.
Yup, good idea, some guys use a vacuum.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching!
Nice job Tony n chris you guys are great.👏👏🙋♀️🙏🏻🙏🏻🔥🔥🪵🪵
Thanks, I appreciate it!
if you can blow your filter from the inside out so you don't blow dust inside your filter .
Yes, I am going to get an extension wand for the air hose!

Okay! Thanks for the info!
A skid-steer would be about 2x as much money. I bought what I needed and had the money for.
Yes he deserves at least 2 or 3 sticks HA! If I was to keep my tractor clean all the time I would not get any work done!
Chris! There are several things about your channel that make it my favorite. One of them is your music selection. How do you find the music that you choose to play?
A lot of searcing on youtube.
seems odd you only have one air filter... check with your dealer, you may be missing one
Thanks for the tip, I will do that. Tony said that too.
Use a vacuum when cleaning your air filter housing you will blow debris into your engine
Thanks Keith, will do!
Fuel filter Chris?????
That is the next service.
If you're looking for long term lubrication, engine fogging oil or a product called fluid film
Yes, fluid film, Tony uses it!
Have you changed the feul filter 😳
Not yet, but I will when I need to!
Two drain plugs because if the shape of the sump
Thanks!
Drives shaft splits the front pan that's the reason for the two drain plugs.
Yup, that is what others have said too. Thanks ED!
plugging the vent with a bolt or screwdriver will slow that drain of fluid.
Yup, and some use a vacuum to hold it in too.
53rd, dang. I slept in
Slacker!!! Ha!
🤘
Thanks!
11/17 to me means November 2017 ??? You wrote it wrong.
No, I will be changing the fluids and filters again in about 6 months or less. I will know when it was.
Air filter should be cleaned from the inside out first
yup!
11/17 but no year?
I do not not need a year on it because we will do it all again in 6 months.
A . T. F. In the front axle doesn't sound right to me but I have been wrong before .
You can use either in mine.
You need to get a power washer.
I would like one!
Now we know how far ahead you are on videos........
Yup, sometimes it gets down to a few days but usually a week or two.
WD 40 stands water displacement 40 try
Yup, got it!
