- ChatGPT on iPhone, But Better. | S-GPT - A Siri ChatGPT Shortcut for iPhone
ChatGPT on the iPhone in the form of a Siri shortcut is nothing new. However, there has never been a way to tie in native system functions with ChatPGT - until now.
S-GPT is a revolutionary Siri Shortcut for the iPhone that allows you to ask your standard ChatGPT-like questions, but now with access to your iPhone's Calendar, Reminders, Music app, clipboard, and more! This way you can not only ask for a list of songs, but S-GPT can actually create a playlist of those songs and publish it to your Apple Music account. And in this video, we explain how to set it up along with some examples of the powerful shortcut. Enjoy!

If Apple had something like this in iOS 17, this will be revolutionary.
100% - one can dream
True!
Judging from the state of Siri, we will be lucky if it recognises words correctly.
"Hey Siri, pause music."
".....on it... Sorry, I can't do that right now."

Thank you Brandon. A clear, concise and easy-to-follow set of instructions on setting this up. took me as long as you took to explain. Brilliant work. 👍👍
Time saver - unless you have already been approved access to the chat gpt-4 developers api, you will have to apply and wait to be approved to used this with chat gpt -4 so effectively this plugin is for chat gpt-3.5
I came here just for this comment thank you.
Thanks for being a champ in alerting us of this - how do we apply?
How do you apply
Just learned this from my own experience. Good to know!
I am on the waitlist since march 27 th and I didn’t got accepted since
Thank you so much Brandon for your excellent explanation which gets me more familiar with ChatGPT everyday! I will follow you closely as I always do for your interesting subjects and information!
You're my favorite Apple channel Brandon! Thanks, love how you keep up with current trends and technology and apply it to Apple products. We want more of this, especially as it relates to AI.
Appreciate it Carlos!
This shortcut has SO much potential 🤯 How are you planning to use this?
Hi, I tried to ask him to make me a playlist with 10 songs like you did at the beginning of the video, but after he asked me what I wanted the name of the playlist to be, he answered: songs added to the playlist: 0. After that I went into music to check if he made a mistake in what he wrote down, but no There was a playlist with the songs I requested. I followed all your steps in the video, what did I do wrong? (it said: Playlist created. Songs added to the playlist: 0)
What about safety of such feature? Does it safe to install 3rd party applications like this on our smartphone?
Safety? That’s when you can the test pilots; let them deal with it before committing

Hey Brandon, great video! I followed everything and got set up...is there a way to get the keyboard to pop up automatically? And if so can it activate the mic?
This is great! Will this eventually be able to be developed to use third party apps like Spotify/Brave/Netflix? Or are shortcuts inherently limited to native iOS apps?
Setup was easy, thanks to your clear instructions -- Thank You!
I like your playlist example, however, it seems to be able to use only the music currently on your device. Is there a way to make it work with streaming music services, specifically the Amazon Music service? I can see how that may be difficult as one probably needs to utilize an API for each service.
yeah. very misleading of him.
Thanks for the great instructional video. Are there any pitfalls to using chat GPI such as privacy concerns or malware?
yea keep this shit away from your personal mobile device, isolate it to a device not containing your personal data.
If your using UA-cam and google products then you aren't concerned with privacy.
@@agentfletcher when UA-cam was taken over by Google, a Google account was a requisite. If you want to use the internet it’s a given that your privacy is no more🤨

Thank you! Finally a chatGPT shortcut that actually works! I’ve been trying variety of different shortcuts over the past couple of weeks and absolutely none of them work. One of the first ones I saw from a snarky British guy who has a lot of followers what is the first examined. However, looking at the comments almost no one can get, the shortcut to work. And at least one case the British dude chastised commenters because he told everyone he’s not a tech support person and to essentially deal with the fact that his instructions don’t work. I had just about given up even trying when I came across this video and your instructions are not only clear, but everything works the first time! Anyway, I haven’t had much of a chance to test it out yet, although I could create a playlist, but only the name of the playlist appears in zero pieces of music are in it. I’m also unable to open my calendar app, although it is not the native apple calendar, the third-party app that I’ve used for many years I’ll keep experimenting. Again, thanks for actually giving us instructions on how to get this to work.
Love this guy ❤
Useful. I’m trying it out. So GPT 3.5 turbo is not free but GPT 3 is free? Can I replace it with 3 to make it free perhaps? Is it worth the pay over google or any other service?
Thank you!! Definitely a thumbs up for this amazing shortcut
Absolutely awesome! Thank you!
This is sooo cool!!!! Can’t wait to see how this further develops! I’d say I can’t wait to see what Apple can create but reality is that Apple will probably make their own version of GPT 🙄 hopefully they just integrate GPT though.
Microsoft already has their grubby hands on it unfortunately
This seems like the fruition of the promise that Apple first displayed with that running video along time ago when Apple depicted someone scheduling their calendar events, and doing all of the tasks that they needed to do while running.
I finally got a set up like this to work. Thank you.Had some issues but sorted out since I am new to shortcuts and ChatGPT
Great video! Thanks. Two of us installed and amazed at the power of this thing!
I set up s-gpt on my iPhone, but I'm only able to use text for input. How do I enable input by voice, like you show in the video?
It was great to have this work with Spotify, since I think more people have that!
Hi, love this. I am trying to get it to launch full mode with Siri, but it doesn’t give me all the export options and it seems like more of a lite mode when it does. Anyone know how I can make it launch with Siri through an automation or otherwise? Thank you.
Managed to set up, great tutorial many thanks , works great, fantastic
So cool!
agreed!
Great job. I did everything but i am unable to use voice command only i am prompt to type.ty
Super thanks to you for posting this video. Now I have an amazing tool, available on my iPad, my iPhone and my Apple Watch Ultra. It feels awesome to be able to simply ask a question and get a verbal answer. I want to stop it from giving me tips. I’m going to have to dig into the logic settings…unless you have a suggestion for all of us? Anyway this is a straight up Godsend to anyone who can simply go through the steps to set up the shortcut. I’m new to them myself. I see the programming logic.
End any request where you only want straight to the point stuff with “minimise prose” and it should stop rambling about
Did you have to do anything special to get it working on your watch? Any time I give it a voice input on my SE it just stalls and does nothing 😭
Thanks for this video 💪😃
Hey Brandon, just installed this and it works great. Only issue is when I try to make a playlist, it always says an unknown error occurred after I type in the name of the playlist. Any solution?
Same here. And I cannot understand how it works for him in the video but not for us and we are using th same scripts.
Perhaps you use a different music app, such as Spotify or Amazon music. Rather than Apple Music?
How do you use the shortcut with the voice? I’ve just installed it but there’s only the option to type in it
Hey Brandon great video. I have a problem though. GPT always has to revert to the encoder to add a playlist or something along those lines. What did I do wrong PLEASE HELP
Thank you for the video, Brandon! I'm so close to getting it to work but I keep getting '0' songs added to my playlist. Is it the encoder? Permissions? I've deleted the shortcut and reconfigured. Thanks for any help!
Thank you for this. I downloaded the encoder as well and entered my API correctly into sgpt. However mine seems to look different than yours. It says S-GPT shortcut instead and takes a lot longer to process anything. When I tried to export chat, it said it wasn't able to do so. Mine also doesn't have tips like yours shows. Am I missing something?
I had the same issue. It’s working, but the native functionality seems much more limited than in the video
Wow this is insane!!.Thanks so much for sharing Brandon-I can’t believe what it can do-Disappointing we have to pay though.I appreciate your efforts so much Brandon-Your high quality content is so amazing and inspiring-Keep it up!.
The developer has to make a living and maintain the infrastructure required to make this possible. It’s fine to pay for things that really do make a difference with your day-to-day life
@@TannerBarcelos Yeah you are right.
You pay a pittance. Every single GPT query costs (openAI) way more to run then a Google search.
that isn't necessarily right. openai APIs and language models are really optimized and efficient so that they don't cost much. not saying you shouldn't pay for it. paying is always a good way of rewarding the developers.
@@HackerSrijan What are you talking about? OpenAI is burning billions lol.
They are spending a fortune on compute. I think I read that each individual GPT query costs 100x or more of a Google search.
Always great content ! Thank you!
Thanks very much!!!
Your instructions are spot on
I tried the process a few times but the shortcut still only allows for text input and no voice recognition. Do I need a certain chatgpt app installed? Do I need a paid subscription for said chat gpt app? Thanks for all the great content over the years 🙏 been watching since ios12
Same problem
This looks great so thanks for the video. However, although I have access to GPT4 and added gpt-4 where you indicated, the response was 'XErrorX The model gpt-4' does not exist'. So I switched it back to gpt-3.5-turbo and asked it create a playlist. That seemed to work as it started asking if it could open other apps but then it ended with failure - 'unknown error occurred'.
So I then tested it with something simple, name the British Prime Ministers, 1970-2000 and that was OK.
Then I asked it for a list of restraurants in a particular town and it said it couldn't tell me and advised me to use Google!
same
Brandon, great video. I was using GPT mode previously. This is better.
That fire for sure 🔥🔥🔥
I got the shortcut to work for giving GPT responses, but the iOS integration doesn't seem to be working. For example, I'll ask it to copy the response to the clipboard, and it says it did, but the text won't be there. Permission is enabled in the shortcut settings
Yup, I have a similar issue. I copied a link to a blog and asked to summarize it like in the video, but it tells me it can't access the clipboard, even though I allowed access.
This is amazing! How do you make it prompt for voice input on load instead of having to first enable keyboard and then click the mic icon? 🤷🏻♂️
I’d like to know this too
Go to Settings > General > Keyboard. Turn on Enable Dictation. The mic icon will appear on the bottom right when you tap on the text field
This is great. Hoping one would interact with the phone functions. I want to see Siri integration to control my smart home, although I use Alex much more and would prefer that.
Awesome, mate! Subscribed and video liked! Looking forward to more and more content like this.
Nice video! But if you're using the API key you showed, I can read it in the animation (3:27) so maybe change it...
That’s a revoked api key so won’t work anyways. Thanks for pointing it out though!
I hope Apple makes this a thing because this is honestly pretty cool
Thanks so much for this, I can’t stop using it. You can ask this to design you shortcuts. Whaaaat!😃🤓
Hi Brandon, great video many thanks. I got everything working except creating music lists. I get to the point where it comes back and asks for a name which I type in then it comes back with an error. Any ideas?
If you struggle with voice, you need to allow voice control on settings. I had this problem and once I allowed it - I can speak to text ...
It would be nice if the shortcut would speak back the reply ... is there a way to allow such capability ?
I’m also wondering this. It seems as though there are other ChatGPT shortcuts that can do it but I can’t figure out how to do it on this one.
This is supercool but I am little worried about giving the entire phone access.
you don't give entire phone access. everything happens locally, on-device. If you look in the Shortcuts app, it shows every step and how data is handled
@@BrandonButch Thanks for confirming that. That makes me feel tons better.
@@BrandonButch Not sure that's true. When I asked it about my schedule it asked for permission to send my calendar entries and reminders to API endpoint.
Thank you so much for this. But how do you disable the “Tips” when you turn on the command?
Would it cause any conflict with the other shortcut (Encoder) if I rename the S-GPT to something more friendly, e.g., "I have a question", so I can use Siri to trigger it?
It's great but I couldn't make it access my calendar or any app on iPhone or ipad to create the music list that you show. I tried to check shortcut permissions but had no luck. Also is really annoying asking if it can access open AI for each prompt even when I answer allow always
same hope someone replies with a fix soon.
The shortcut does generate Apple Music playlist output, but it keeps crashing saying there is a format error. I ask for 40 songs released in a particular year and s-gpt only gives me about 17 songs and crashes. Similar results in different years.
Thank you for making video and demonstrating things regardless. It is almost cool.
Yeah. So is mine. I got one that generated 23 but that was the most.
Same here, I tried to get it to give me a playlist with an artist, and similar artist and to make it about an hour long, and it gave me 10 songs that was a total of about 29 minutes
It won't create a playlist at all. "An unknown error occurred" under Special case for Apple Music integration.
Just a heads up if you’re using GPT 3.5 it’s probably bumping against the Token limit when trying to add more than 20 or so songs. Haven’t used it but just a guess.
@@JamesGobert you’re probably right. I’ll try it with gpt 4
Hey Brandon, I love your content!
Awesome Video! Thank you so much!
Verrrry interesting. Followed all the instructions and I can only type in the text box; it won't recognize a voice or transcribe. Thoughts?
Tap on cursor and your keyboard opens then use the mic from keyboard
@@Mapleri Doh. Thanks.
I am having issues with it being able to reference my calendar as you previewed in the video. I’m getting responses like this: “I'm sorry, but as a shortcut within Siri, I don't have access to your calendar or weather data. However, you can use the built-in Siri commands to check your calendar and ask for the weather in your area.”
getting the same on my end
Me too
Use the trigger phrase ‘check my schedule’ (for a specific date, for example) then it asks for permission to view your calendar.
Same issues. Getting the following reply “Sorry, as an AI language model, I don't have access to your personal calendar. Please tell me the name of the calendar service you are using so that I can guide you further.”
Same here same response feedback
thank you! followed your instructions exactly and got it working on my iPhone. tried the same prompt you used at the beginning of your video and S-GPT created an empty playlist. there seems to be changes to the shortcut as the opening prompt is different then what you had in the video. I've tested with article summary like yours and that worked fine. both shortcuts are v1.0.1
Currently broken.
@@eldannyboy25 is that what i keep getting cannot parse response as all my answers?
Works, thank you! However it takes up to 45 seconds between responses. Very slow compared to other GPT shortcuts I’ve tried. Please advise. Thanks!
The link for the shortcut doesn’t work anymore
Hi Brandon, thank you so much. Such a helpful video. everytime I try an input a permissions pop up keeps showing up for things like privacy etc. I saw always allow but it still asks me each time. How do I stop that from happening?
Yes, Im having the same issue. Hope someone can help on this.TQ
Hi Brandon, thanks for the sharing.
I faced some error message when trying to create a playlist.
It showed "Unknown Error occured" when sgpt is generating the playlist.
Playlist name is created but no song in it.
May you help?
So I set this all up (had the basic one running for a couple months, but swapped over to this). Once I added a watch complication my phone is now randomly giving me the Apple Watch Keyboard Input popup. Even when im not touching my watch or using the shortcut complication on my watch.
Can’t believe Siri is still a thing when stuff like this exists 😂😂😂
These are extremely different things.
@@citizen3000 what’s the difference? I’m quite curious. Like google assistant and google bard and this and Siri
@@allenchang6185 They're extremely different in a number of ways.
For a start, Siri is a tiny compact programme that runs on your device locally.
GPT is a big expensive monster that you access via servers.
Just going lol why isn't Siri like this displays such a vast lack of comprehension of what we're dealing with here.
Wait I'm confused. You're on ChatGPT 3.5 which doesn't have access to the internet. The information cutoff date is sometime in 2021. So how are you able to summarize articles and make a playlist of songs from 2019 to 2023, unless that playlist doesn't have any 2022 and 2023 songs?
This is a grey zone because even if it can't connect to the internet, it certainly has access to Apple Music where the publishing dates and genres are all available.
WOW I love this! How do I stop all of the system privacy popups asking me to allow once, always etc?
This is bonkers, cheers Brandon 👍🏼
This is incredible!! I just set this up but I got an error for when I did the “summarize the article in my clipboard”. Open AI said it could not access my clipboard even though I hit “always allow”.
Same here
Pretty great find!! Question though: I have access to GPT-4 but when I put it in the settings and try to run s-gpt, it comes back with: "error model doesn't exist" so I had to revert back to gpt-3.5 turbo... any ideas?
you have access to the GPT4 developer API? If so, and you're not confusing it with just GPT4, you have to put "gpt-4" in place of "gpt-3.5-turbo"
@@BrandonButch thanks for the tip, I think a lot of people will confuse it. It would be worth to mention it next time the difference between gpt-4 and gpt-4 developer api.
@@GuessWild I said API in the video but maybe I can put a note on screen in case some don't know the difference

Awesome video man
Any idea why it charged $5 as soon as I set up my billing ?
It said in the header of the billing info page when setting your card what it was for. It's a pre-authorization, it'll go back to your account.
When you set up a payment method in the Billing section, it has this:
Pay as you go
A temporary authorization hold will be placed on your card for $5. At the end of each calendar month, you’ll be charged for all usage that happened during the month.
and it clarifies what it means by a “temporary authorisation”:
An authorization hold puts a temporary lock on a certain amount of your available bank or credit balance. This appears as a pending charge on your account and will reverse within 7 days.
You get similar things with car hire, hotels, or pay at the pump for petrol/gas. It’s a way of verifying that the card is good for making transactions, but it should be reversed within the 7 days.
How many years has it been since we’ve seen a major update to Siri? Guaranteed, Apple has been working behind the scenes on an AI version of Siri. I would be surprised if this wasn’t on IOS17. Or even, better yet, part of their VR/AR experience in some way.
It would be nice but I don’t think they did something behind the scenes. Proper voice chatbots with great results are on the market for YEARS. With AI versions also.
Apple isn’t the company that treats users with wonderful updates and really cares about the improvement of UI. Comparing to other companies like Google or even Samsung, Apple launches valuable updates like 1-2y later than others on the market and that’s crazy in a bad way
This is great! Tried it myself. I am wondering if it could be developed further by speaking its response. I think that would help a lot.
What camera do you use for making videos?
And how do you get such clear videos?
