    Watch as Bethel Senior Leader Bill Johnson and Bethel Associate Pastor and Dean of BSSM Dann Farrelly discuss Bethel's views and theology of sickness and healing while answering questions about when someone doesn't receive healing when prayed for.
    Jesus modeled for us what life could be like for anyone who had no sin and was empowered by the Holy Spirit. If Jesus did all of His miracles as God, we would all still be impressed and in awe of His miracles. However, we discover in scripture that Jesus did all of these miracles as the Son of man, meaning He was fully God and fully man. Jesus performed His miracles as a human who the Holy Spirit empowered. By doing this, Jesus demonstrated for all believers what is possible and set the standard for us to follow and then in scripture gave us this command:
    "And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven has come near.' Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with leprosy, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give." - Matthew 10:7-8 (NASB)
    So what does it look like to live out the command Jesus gives in the book of Matthew? What happens when we don't receive the gift of healing after being prayed for? What happens when we pray for someone, and they are not healed? We invite you to watch this video to hear Bill Johnson and Dann Farrelly discuss in-depth what it means to not allow for a theology of sickness to rule our view of God.

    I'm glad I found this tonight! It opened my mind to an "understanding" of what is happening when healing does not come. To "enduring" faith that doesn't just leave when healing, for whatever reason, doesn't happen immediately or even soon. God is teaching me. Thank you Bill.

      But should not be the default mindset for people with serious illnesses, like Stage 4 cancer. Listening for Holy Spirit is ESSENTIAL. A person/family who are battling a grueling fight can have moments of questioning and that statement could undermine their faith. It may be best to keep that thought to yourself rather than share it without KNOWING it's Holy Spirit.

    My pastor always says it is a shame when we focus our prayer on physical ailments rather than praying for the condition of people’s souls.
    “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” 2 Cor. 4:16-18
    Yes God can heal. Nothing is impossible with him. But we cannot lose sight of His greatest gift of salvation and redemption from our sinful selves.
    “For whoever would save his life will lose it but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” Mark 8:35-36

I think the most important thing to do is keep looking at things from God’s perspective. When we get into our own understanding or what different leaders believe, we aren’t fully leaning on the Lord. We want the Life of God to be poured out of us like it was with Jesus. So the world will know Jesus is real. (John 17 chapter) Much love sister and thanks for sharing. 🤍

      You are truly an examiner of truth as the Bereans were. I prayed for you. We "test everything" not only test objections that we dislike. I beg you to test this now and not stop short before the end: Bill Johnson's words on August 15th 2010. “The apostle Paul gives a warning in Galatians. And he says ‘If I or even an angel comes to you and preaches to you a different gospel, you’ve got to REJECT it.’ What gospel is it? It’s the Gospel of Jesus. It’s the Gospel of the kingdom. Let me illustrate. Paul refers to his thorn in the flesh which has been INTERPRETED BY MANY as disease allowed or brought on by God. That’s a different gospel.” You might have to read this a few times.
      Actually, Paul said that those with a different gospel are "anathema" (rejected by God) not only rejected by us. This "apostolic" preaching renders believers who see Paul having poor health as rejected by God because theology that allows for sickness is supposedly a made-up theology. "I refuse to create a theology that allows for sickness." -Bill Johnson, also on August 15th. But what does NAR's own Passion Translation say about Paul? In Galatian 4:13 Paul himself said: "You are well aware that the reason I stayed among you to preach the good news was because of the POOR STATE OF MY HEALTH." This verse at face value is the only position held by the Brothers that Bill Johnson lumped into Paul's anathema curse. Jesus said "when the day of judgment comes, everyone will be held accountable for every careless word he has spoken. Your very words will be used as evidence, and your words will declare you either innocent or guilty.” Matthew 12:36-37. Again from the Passion Translation. "We who teach are held to a higher standard of judgment." James 3:1 Pray that Bill Johnson confesses and repents of speaking evil of brothers before it's too late. Ease and contentment can come from being godly or can come from being puffed up by yesmen and adoring followers. God be with you on your journey to know the truth.

      I think there are times that we know God's will, because we know His character. In this case we don't need to ask Him if it is His will or not. If you believe His will is to heal everyone who comes to Him, then asking isn't needed.
      The reference to "not my will, but thine be done" is often taken out of context. Jesus was asking to not be left in His suffering. Jesus knew God did not WANT Him to suffer, but He also knew there was a greater will accomplished through it. It might help to read an Aramaic translation of Luke 22 to greater understand where the Lord was coming from in His plea to the Father. Jesus spoke Aramaic.

      He wasn’t praying for healing then. He was making a sacred dedication to submit to being the Lamb of God. He NEVER - not one single time- said to someone No, it’s not God’s will for you to be healed. He never said to those who were healed of which Holy Spirit gave us detailed accounts, It was God’s will for you, today was your lucky day. He never emphasized God’s will in these accounts ( there are approximately 20 detailed accounts of healings). He always said, Your faith has sozo you, or be it done to you as you believe. He emphasized the people’s faith in these individual accounts. Bill, throughout this video, you make it abundantly clear that your model of life is the life of Jesus. You also said that you can't pray "if it's your will" because that is a prayer of unbelief (1:34). How can you justify that statement when the Lord Jesus himself prayed such a prayer? "41 And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”" (Luke 22:41-42 ESV).

    I love Bill Johnson and Bethel. A question I have about it being God's will to always heal people. When Jesus went to the Pool of Bethesda in John 5 he healed one man, even though a great number of disabled people were at the pool (John 5v3). In than instance, with Jesus being perfect theology, for that moment it was clearly a situation that it was God's will for that one man to be healed and for the rest not to be healed. I've heard Bill say that the church today would focus on those who weren't healed because of our lack of faith. I'm not doing that. I'm focusing on those who weren't healed because it's my understanding that in that moment it wasn't God's will for them to be healed. If it was, Jesus would have healed everyone at the pool. This is why I still have the question, is it always God's will to heal? As a Pastor, I would love to hear Pastor Bill's or others response to this.

      That's a good question. I can tell you're asking with sincerity and from a pure heart. Good for you, thank you for that.
      Here's the thing, whenever someone, whether one person or a crowd came to Jesus for healing, they were all healed. When one person asked him if it was his will to heal him he was answered, "I am willing. Be cleansed". When the disciples asked Jesus why they could not drive the demon out of the boy so that he'd be healed, Jesus answered them saying, "It's because of your unbelief." The same goes for all who came to get healing in the book of Acts, all of those people were healed. Not one was ever turned away. And James gives the instruction in chapter 5 if anyone among us is sick, have them be prayed for and they'll be healed.
      Is it always God's will, morally speaking, to heal? Absolutely. Did the Father have a specific plan that he willed that day for Jesus to heal that one guy for a specific reason? I believe so. But, do you think if any of those other people sitting around the pool asked Jesus to be healed, would he have said no? Absolutely not, I believe.
      One of the biggest hinderances that often happens to most of us when we read the Bible is that we are still reading as though this were a law book. As if, like Leviticus for example, it were a library of instructions from God that tell us all the ins and outs of what he's like and gives us everything we need to know to do in response in order to guarantee success for ourselves.
      The problem is, that is the dilemma of man living under a law system in this life. A law of right and wrong, of good and evil. And, as Paul explains in 2 Corinthians 3, when the law is read, it is covered by a veil. But, the veil, the law itself, which obscures God is taken away when the understanding of the gospel comes into play. It takes the veil away so we can live apart from law and live by life, which is spirit; the tree of life.
      This is all about relationship. This all about family. Family, relationship, intimacy, trust, etc. , these are all dynamic, holistic things. They aren't bounded by squares and rectangles, though they are not without order and flow.
      I've healed people in public before, but not others. Well if I did one, why didn't I another? Well, it's because I was getting coffee. It's because I was on my way to spend time with my niece and nephew. Does that mean it isn't in my heart to see all the people at the children's hospital and the retirement home be healed of what sin and death has hurt them with? Of course not.
      Of course it's a little bit of a different dynamic with us. We're growing up in faith, confidence, etc. But, the gist is the same as it was with Jesus.

      @thatguy4142 3 роки тому +12

      I would encourage you to read 2 Corinthians 12:7-10.
      The simple answer is no, it is not God's perfect will to always heal on this side of eternity. If you repented and have accepted Jesus as your savior and Lord over your life, you will experience ultimate healing in eternity. That passage talks about Paul having a "thorn in the flesh". Paul wanted healing from an issue he experienced. Instead, the Lord responds to him no and that His grace is sufficient for him (Paul). Read what Paul says about that after. Sometimes we won't get the healing on this side of eternity because God has a bigger plan in store. One that will bring Him more glory and honor.
      I would encourage you to stay away from Bill Johnson and Bethel. Their theology about Jesus and the Bible is dangerous. It sounds very convincing, but ultimately far from truth.

    • @camgalloway691
      @camgalloway691 3 роки тому +8

      @@thatguy4142 I've read that passage many times before. I think it's unfortunate and detrimental when the whole of scripture is pointing to something but we come across one or maybe even a few places that sound like it could be saying something different, and we thus point scripture in a different direction.
      There's a number of things to be said to your view of Paul's thorn.
      First off there truly is no evidence for sure, either in chapter 12 or chapter 11, that Paul was referring to a physical illness asking God to heal him of. We assume that into the text, but that assumption is by no means inductive to the text. And, the word "infirmity" doesn't cut it to draw that conclusion. Neither does the word "weakness". All of the weaknesses Paul gave listed in chapter 11 leading into 12, and also in chapter 12 itself, had all to do with persecution, traveling to preach, etc.
      Second, there are places in the Old Testament, like Numbers and Joshua, where you'll find the thorn language being used. The inhabitants of the land that were to be driven out, or the surrounding nations to Israel would become to them "thorns in their sides" or "thorns in their eyes" if the people did not do as God commanded them in those passages. So if we know our Old Testament well, and we learn that it's best to induct what we read and helpful to use "the rule of first mention" to rightly interpret scripture, we would then interpret Paul's "thorn in my flesh", as referring to a person, maybe referring to a tormenting spirit, but safest would be to interpret as a person. Especially considering that Paul calls this thorn a "MESSENGER of Satan". I think that would really be stretching it to be calling sickness a "messenger" just because Paul used the word "flesh." Even if you believe it is sickness, you still can't deny that the phrase "thorn in my flesh" is figurative language because you obviously don't believe Paul was referring to a literal thorn that was in his body even if you believe it was sickness of some kind.
      Thirdly, even if it was sickness, how do you know exactly that what God meant by saying, "My grace is sufficient for you", meant that the answer was no? How do you conclude that based off of something like that?
      How I read that is God reminding Paul and calling him back to grace through faith. We have been given authority by God to drive out sickness and demons and tread on snakes and scorpions. That word to me is just an encouragement to Paul, "My grace is enough to get you through this". If it's a person bothering him, well then the grace of God is enough for us to love the person in the midst of whatever they're doing to us and not be swayed. If it's a spirit, well then the grace of God is enough for us stand firm against the enemy's attacks in the truth of our faith that makes and keeps us free. If you know and understand that grace is not mercy for our sins, but it's the thing that transforms our lives, and empowers us to live in righteousness, holiness, and godliness, then this verse will by no means stumble you out of knowing God's will to heal.
      Satan comes all the time to test our faith. He comes on account of the word preached. It's really sad that we use one instance of something in the Bible to discredit something very good and Biblical when all the while the whole council of scripture, and the overarching story/narrative of the gospel is right in front of our face. But, we exalt so much our personal experience, or lack thereof, so much to the point where we can't see Jesus standing right in front of us saying, "I am the resurrection!".

      Ah, the snakes and scorpions command -- that was given to the 72 sent out directly by Christ. I am not a Cessationist -- God has spoken to individuals outside the Word; however, gifts and the authority to perform them were temporary, and grew the early Church for a limited time. What is seen today in places like Bethel is Confusion.
      The Church's foundation is the Gospel - Christ crucified for sins - people are easily distracted from that Gospel with the Confusion of "healing" and supposed signs, wonders. God does the miraculous -- when He wants. Not bc I prayed this or that way, or commanded, or followed a verse out of context.
      No priest ever exorcised a demon with "I rebuke you!!" bc no human being HAS that authority, nor IS the authority. The correct phrase is "The LORD rebuke you!" (archangel Michael).
      Jesus commanded and healed bc He is the Incarnate God. I am not the Incarnate God; and I cannot command God to do my will. I can pray in humility, asking His Will to be done --- and accept whatever outcome that means. God seeks to grow His kingdom and that does not and frankly cannot aaalllllways include physical healing. Romans 5:3-5.

My concern is that according to Bill Johnson, "God cannot make people sick" because "He can't give what He doesn't have", which can't be true based on the Bible.

    I can completely agree that we should pray for healing every time. I believe it is being obedient even. I even appreciate Bill saying he doesnt want to create a theology based on what didnt happen. We are even told to petition, which means it can be a repetitive prayer even, which we do have an account of with Paul which even ended up not being healed with what ever the thorn in his flesh was.
    I understand where the philosophy comes from the it is Gods will to heal everytime, but when you extrapolate that thought process, you start to sees the holes in it. It very easily falls into the health and wealth gospel very easily.
    And we dont have scripture thats says it is always Gods will to heal. It is interpretation of Jesus and the assumptions that we are the same, which is a different conversation that this obviously is related to. However, all of the scripture that mentions Gods will has to do with sanctification, non perishing, our personal discipline.

      By the Holy Spirit, you are an examiner of truth as the Bereans were. We test everything, not only test objections that we dislike. I beg you to test this: Bill Johnson's words on August 15th 2010. That’s a different gospel.”
      Actually, Paul said that those with a different gospel are "anathema" (rejected by God). Bill's authoritative preaching renders believers who see Paul having poor health as rejected by God because theology that allows for sickness is supposedly a made-up theology. "I refuse to create a theology that allows for sickness." -Bill Johnson, also on August 15th. But what does NAR's own Passion Translation of the Bible say about Paul? In Galatian 4:13 Paul himself said: "You are well aware that the reason I stayed among you to preach the good news was because of the poor state of my health." This verse at face value is the only position held by the Brothers that Bill Johnson has lumped into Paul's anathema curse.

    I love the faith and obedience to the Holy Spirit. It is so true that God calls us to look like a fool at times, and as Todd White said once, “dignity is not a fruit of the Spirit”!
    That being said, I would counter that it is not God’s will to always heal, but he can heal at anytime, in anyway, just as he pleases. (John 5, pool of Bethseda being a prime example).
    Paul left his companion Trophimus at Miletus because he was ill. (2 Timothy 4:20). Paul instructed Timothy to “take a little wine” because of his “frequent ailments”. (1 Timothy 5:23). Pauls companion Epaphroditus was severely ill and almost died, but “God had mercy” on him. (Philippians 2:25-27).
    In Corinth, the Lord was bringing judgement (sickness and death) on the believers that were eating and drinking the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner. (1 Corinthians 11:30-32).
    And in Acts 5, Ananias and Sapphira lie to the Holy Spirit, and are killed by the Lord.
    Balance in all things. Personally, I don’t approach someone that it’s God’s will to heal at all times, but rather that God CAN heal someone at anytime for any reason.

      @Dean A. Faith is a good focus, I totally agree. But understanding that God is sovereign over all things, including healings, and that it may not be God's will to heal someone is paramount. Otherwise you will inherently have to ask the "why" question when someone isn't healed (which is frequent) - and sadly, this is where the victim blaming ensues (i.e. you have sin in your life, you didn't have enough faith, etc). Faith is important, but there are instances where faith wasn't a requirement on the part of the individual (i.e. the cripple at the pool of Bethesda), and where it seemingly made no difference (i.e. the companion that Paul left behind who was ill)

    '' During that service, Beni Johnson revealed she had a heavenly encounter with Jesus in the spirit and gained access to healing power over cancer.
    "All through worship whenever I start to sing this song and I close my eyes I just actually step into Heaven. And I was looking around Heaven but I noticed that my brother-in-law Jim, and my father-in-law Bill's dad are standing on the edge of Heaven and they are looking down," she said.
    "And both of them died from cancer. And I said, Holy Spirit, Jesus, why are they standing out to me? Why are they standing and looking down and then Jenn said 'we declare healing over cancer,'" Beni Johnson said as the audience applauded.
    She then encouraged the crowd to grab the healing power for cancer out of Heaven.
    "I know we all have people who have that. That wretched disease from Hell and I really feel like the Holy Spirit is on that and we are to declare more, we have to go after this a little bit. So let's just speak to the people that we know. If you're in this room and you have cancer we declare to you no more. We're grabbing out of Heaven the healing power," she said.
    As people were encouraged to pray for those with cancer, Johnson stated, "Don't pray; declare. This is a time, this is an open Heaven right here and we're calling down the healing power of Jesus over cancer." Yeah, I'll believe you, SURE !

    No one Jesus healed ever had to wait for a breakthrough or the right timing. No one ever had to say, "I'm healed but just waiting for the manifestation."
    ALL of Jesus' healings happened physically right there and then, were visible, and were complete, on the spot.
    And He healed EVERYONE that way regardless of their faith level or any other issues in their life.
    That's how Jesus heals. He is perfect theology, and His healings are perfect.

      Mk8:24 Jesus prayed & partial miracle happened...prayed again & miracle completed. (He was having an off day) Lk17:14 miracle happened not right in front of Jesus for the lepers but as they went. "how Jesus heals" > to quote you...it was crazy how many ways Jesus healed. It sounds like your saying the only path of healing has to be Jesus path of perfection or it's not valid. (if that's not right...feel free to state what you are trying to state or imply) Jesus had all authority after the resurrection & promptly sat down & handed the keys over to the church to do His kingdom business. He will 'build His church', using his in-progress, under-construction, imperfect church. We preach...even though we will never preach as perfectly as Jesus. We witness...even though we will never do it as perfectly as Jesus. We pray for the sick...even though we will never do it as perfectly as Jesus. It doesn't mean we stop any aspect of kingdom works...just because we don't do it as perfectly as Jesus. Jesus is still healing today...using imperfect people like Bill Johnson.

      Just thought I'd add to Jesus plan of using imperfect people in his ministry of healing...(Matt10:1 called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction)... Jesus called his disciples to heal diseases...none of them did it as good as Jesus...but Jesus still told them to do it...his disciples still are.

I told her that Jesus could heal her of it just like He healed people when He was on the earth. She thought about it, and decided that she’d rather go to be with Christ. Her reasoning being that, if healed of cancer and arthritis, she would still be living in that nursing home. She was tired. She wanted to be with Christ. I told her I understood. You will never find such division in Islam for example. God has called us to love another as Christians. I understand that they may be errors committed by certain individuals, the Bible allows for a loving correction in this regard, but pointing fingers and judging, words like "False prophets" Does not build the Church at all, it's a way of Pharisees. There are many scriptures in the Bible that shows that it is God's will to heal and I don't It is wrong to believe for healing but we all know not everyone will be healed as it will depend on God's will. Hear from others that he’s still on this planet, but if I ever saw him, I’d have to say, “after 20+ years of knowing you, I never really knew you.” What a shame - he could have just said “goodbye” and I would have been glad for him.

    • @im1mb
      @im1mb 2 роки тому

      In 2Peter 2:24 the Scripture says, by His stripes you were*** healed. I’ve heard some teach that by firmly believing the Word, you won’t believe or accept symptoms. They may be true, but there is a higher truth. The physical realm is subject to the superior realm of God in His Word. That is, not give symptoms any weight, to give the Word of God the highest consideration, most valued statement, above what the dr says, what the body says. Healed is SOZO in the Greek, so it includes everything Jesus obtained for us in His atonement. In mark 2:1-12, Jesus connected receiving healing with receiving forgiveness of sins. If you can believe that your sins are forgiven, then you can believe your body can be healed. His atonement provided us with both. The reason many have a disconnect is because forgiveness of sins is taught, preached in most Bible believing churches, whereas healing isn’t. Since faith comes by hearing, it’s important to seek out and listen to teaching on healing. I’m still studying and learning myself. I hope this answers your question.

    Therefore, to keep me from becoming overly proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from the Adversary to pound away at me, so that I wouldn't grow conceited.
    Three times I begged the Lord to take this thing away from me;

    So very sad to read some of the comments below….people attack Bill and call him ungodly names because he believes in healing yet they are unable to come up with a biblical reason why he is wrong
    Just because somebody interprets scripture different to you doesn’t make that person a heretic, but if you call them that, that makes you self righteous

      As a matter of fact there are many who have scriptural reasons why Bill is wrong. He has been exposed time and time again.

    So what about someone like me who has Neurofibromatosis and Cherubism? I guess I lack faith, correct? I guess the fact that every medical intervention has failed is my fault? Even the surgeries when I was 9 and 10.

    He says all this with his glasses on! (Btw Justin Peter’s said this) what I see is that faith is understood as a superpower that you can grow and use ... god did not promised us to be healed here on earth ... so I will always ask for a miracle or healing but we have to leave it up to god and he will do whatever is right ... and that’s not always what we want or think is right ...

      It’s confusing because it’s a false teaching. God doesn’t double talk but these false teachers do. Just ask this question to yourself whenever you hear pastors talk…IS THEIR BIBLE OPEN?
