Proper ground dosing, as stated by most UA-camrs, in the coffee side, have been talking about weighing out the grounds. Standard is 18 grams, but I actually do 20 grams. It all depends on what you want and what size the basket is. My IMS basket, which did not come with my machine, works best with 20 grams, as a standard. Usually the basket or the instructions tell you the size, from lest amount you can use to the most. Another idea, is to use a bottomless portafilter. This will show you more information, on what is going on, as it comes out. This can be messy, but you will get more info on what is going on. Also, American standard is 1 to 2. One part espresso, two parts output, by weight. An example would be 20 grams of coffee, to 40 grams of output. I think European standard is 1 to 1. Of course, this all depends on what you like and in that case, there is no standard. I am just saying what I have been learning and what has worked for me. Good luck on your journey through coffee, and remember to always have fun.
@@michaelerbreviews IMS baskets are precision baskets that you can get. On the machine I have, you can use an IMS basket, and you get a bigger portafilter that holds the 18 to 22 gram basket. Most baristas, use about 18, from my understanding. My setup works best at 20/40. With this machine, in the video, it might not be able to do that much. I am not fully sure as I do not have the machine. Just, that if it could (or can) do 18, that was my suggestion. Also, for mine, it goes over the top, and when you press it into the puck form, it fits. I have a dosage funnel that helps catch any that goes over the top of the basket.
I’d like to see a bit where you were frothing the milk. I got an espresso machine for Christmas (not this one) and the shot was easy but frothing was a nightmare. The think conked out during frothing regularly. I’m looking for another and this one looks promising but I wish you had shown the frothing.
Oh yeah that does look like it...I looked on Amazon and found a few more that looks like this one as well. Well if you are going to copy better copy the best lol 😆 how much do you love your De'Longhi?
15 bar converts to 217psi. How is that possible? With that kind of pressure there would be espresso all over the kitchen. Slight exaggeration ....the bar rating I mean.
Yes this will definitely give you a boost in the flavor world compared to the French Press. I'm currently using this with pre ground coffee (not espresso grind) I got for free and I must admit it works great in this espresso machine 😀
although the correct water temperature is as important for making coffee as the right oven temperature when cooking a meal. I wonder how many people making espresso with their home machine are monitoring or even looking at the temperature of the water being produced. espresso needs to be between 190-205 degrees with various margins producing very different coffees and subtleties. some machines only heat water to 150 degrees...obviously a short fall and one that often can't be amended. so, those who are using the Wirsh...what temperature water is brewing your espresso and if inaccurate...wouldn't that temperature actually create lesser or indistinct crema, brightness, fruitiness, acidity, body and all those qualities you are searching for. and if incorrect, is there a method of adjusting.
Mine beeps on startup double beep can't find the manual doesnt that mean its due for cleaning but all in all i like it. The longer frothing arm allows you to stretch the milk better than the short arm.
Ive had mine for coming up on 2 years now and it still works great. I soaked the portafilter in cafiza overnight and it ripped the shiny layer of steel off, but not the shiny steel in the doubleshot cup itself. What happened? I ordered the bottomless filter that is all stainless steel now but i dont know if thats gonna prevent whatever happened
What would you say about the grounds themselves? Is there a specific type of grinder you need to yield the best results? or pre-ground mix that's better than another? Thanks!
I use pre ground all the time in this espresso machine. The main thing I found was how hard you tamp the grounds...for pre ground you need to tamp half then fill and tamp the full cup. I think any grinder that can do espresso grind will work.
Hi there - I may have missed this in the video for each extraction … what was the texture of the grind that you used on the last shots you pulled? Like the fine grind seemed to be a no go - what was the kind of grind that worked best? I just go this yesterday and found this , so thank you for the vid!
Oh hi ty - so Right now I have “fine” espresso already grinded. When I was a barista we would grind directly before pulling shots - so I normally would keep the beans whole until I’m ready … but yeah - right now I have a fine espresso and an extra fine decaf espresso.
@@AtHomewithLucas very cool. I have a question. What is the diameter of the portafilter? Is it 58mm? Or something else like 51 or 53? I'm considering it but I have accessories for a particular size and re-buying would be a headache.
Just found the right amount of grounds plus pressure...I think that is more important that the grind size. But it should be finer then drip coffee size.

Oh thank you for all that great information 👍 and I will definitely keep going with my coffee obsession 😁
@@AtHomewithLucas It's more than an obsession. It's a lifestyle. 😃 If you have any questions, you may message me.
There is no way you can put 20 or even 18 grams of coffee in the Wirsch double basket. No way. Its more like 12-14 grams max in the double basket.

Can you explain more about your problem?
This machines form reminds me a lot of my De'Longhi Dedica Deluxe, just half the price

Yeah espresso machines use a lot of pressure to extract all the flavor from the ground coffee.
@@AtHomewithLucas not 217psi. OSHA would require all kinds of safety valves. You'd have to have a safety cage around it!
You're worried about an espresso machine when we have Atomic Bombs that create a shock wave of 1,000,000 psi
Definitely think you convinced me to spend the money. I’ve been bored with my French press and wanting a new adventure to go on in the coffee world

This unit comes with a fixed water temperature. No adjustments are needed for a great espresso shot.

If you use it heavily then it's probably due for a cleaning yes. Let me look into it
bro you need to ised weight scale and timet so will not waste of coffee beans

Nice review! So, question..does the frother give you an option to get hot water?
Yes it does. When it's fully turned it just let's out hot water.

Looks to be the exact same thing as my HOUSNAT. I like mine.
Where did you buy yours?

I believe I was grinding to espresso texture. My grinder is very basic not really providing much more then that.
What grinder machine are you using?

The Wirsh 15 bar - same as this video
Nice and what grinder are you using?
This looks a lot like the ilavie espresso machine…I wonder if they are the same company 🤔
Good question, but no, this model is made by many different companies.
Basically this is a Laekerrt Espresso Machine CMEP01. Only the steamer knob, warming to surface and wand are different.
Yes this model is made by several different companies.
As my ECG ESP 20501 (but with 20 bar) and Nespresso capsule compatibility.
How you use the creamer?
I made a tutorial video showing how to use this machine. It will help you ua-cam.com/video/UwdEe962ZLg/v-deo.html

Can you use ese pod with this machine?
Great question...it's not recommended because it more then likely will clog the filter. The ESE pods are only for special machines that use them.
Yes you can. Wirsch provides the basket you will need if you contact them.
Oh that is awesome! Thanks for the info 👍 😀 do they sell it on Amazon?

@@AtHomewithLucas No, it's not sold on Amazon as far as I know. you need to contact their customer service and request one. service@mywirsh.com

Hey! What did you do to get the final extraction?
Just found the right amount of grounds plus pressure...I think that is more important that the grind size. But it should be finer then drip coffee size.
¿Hola una pregunta a esta maquina se le puede poner otro portafiltro?
English please?

Yes as long as it's 51 mm 👍😊
