    I remember that part of Transvaal history where Yu-Gi-Oh, leader of the trade unions, banished prince kaiba's armies to the shadow realm, it was a really interesting history class

  • @EskiltheWanderer

    My remedy for the shadow realm bug is to Create Army somewhere valid, ensure no other armies exist in shadowrealm space (south africa/boerland seems to do it to me a lot), disband the shadowrealmed army; it will instantly move the troops to another army elsewhere. Teleportation actually, but the army's organization starts at 0.

      What also seems to work sometimes is assigning to HQ and after they reach it, then assigning to front, though it doesn't always work

    at 10:40 It's working as intended, the annexing you was NOT a PRIMARY goal. Backing down only give primary goals.
    So for example, as japan if you declare a transfer subject war against the USA and they put "Open market" as their demand, you have to start the war and capitulate because the AI doesn't make "Open market" a primary goal.

    • @generalistgaming
      @generalistgaming  9 місяців тому +4

      I guess I don't remember reading it as primary, but I thought if you only have one wargoal that it's always primary.

    • @Vracuon
      @Vracuon 9 місяців тому +4

      @@generalistgaming I thought so too! I got very confused when i backed down and didnt get my market open. I also think it makes no sense at all that the AI doesn't make a primary demand, especially if they demand only one thing.

    You get 20% loan repayment interest rate at base, and then you get another 25% for being an insignificant power. I'm guessing the UI shows them separately because they're from different modifiers.
    Watching this makes me want to do a run just like it. Thanks for bringing this interesting thing up!
    Edit: And holy shit the Intelligentsia's +50% migration attraction is powerful.

    • @Mynameismegalex
      @Mynameismegalex Місяць тому

      Sorry if I'm being pedantic but just to be clear for people who don't understand how it works, there's two sets of modifiers: one additive, and one multiplicative. The sum of additive modifiers is, as you say, your base rate, and it is simply multiplied by the sum of multiplicative modifiers to give you your actual interest rate. From what I can tell you have to look at the "Assets" tab of your "Budget" screen to see the actual rate.
      In this case, 20% is the sum of additive and 25% is the sum of multiplicative modifiers. The actual rate would be 20% * 25% = 25%
      I think they should rename the second modifier to "Loan interest rate rate" to make it just that much clearer.

      Honestly it's great to see runs of countries like Transvaal! Feels like starts like these are a bit on the under-showcased side of Victoria 3. Sure it may not be as fast or forgiving as places with higher numbers of accepted pops and higher debt ceilings, but on the flipside you really feel that change in your country's power when it finally comes.

    There is a lot of general stratergy about what is meta but this shows how conditionally you have to play as per the situation like how you ended up prioritizing Universities rather than construction.

      I have gotten a bug before where a region i decided to colonize revolted and it made me go to war with them. That part was normal but the problem was the remaining land the province had was 100% unpassable terrain so I physically couldn't occupy them because they were protected by the desert. The funny part though is that portion of the region had 0 resources and 0 arable land so the 5k nomads left there were starving to death at a rapid pace. Serves them right for revolting against me. They can have their freedom as they starve to death in the desert.

    One way I've found to get soldiers out of Somalia/Ethiopia HQ is to go through Kenya/Zanj HQ (restation them in that HQ). I don't know how well it works if you don't own any of the coast there. You may also want to try to get them out through whatever HQ is in Yemen or Oman (restation them in that HQ).
    The basic principle here is seeing if there's anyway you CAN go, trying baby steps first, and then see if you can go from there.
    I've had similar problems in West Africa when doing colony swapping shenanigans. Only found my way out of there when I sold relevant colonies.
    This was all done/tested as SAR->ITA though

    Your starting steps videos are really informative and constructive (although as a newcomer to vic3, admittedly confuse me sometimes), but i feel iv'e improved heavily despite that due in part to your excellent insight.
    However, I,m still struggling majorly with a few ingame concepts, especially (as a Norway stan) playing as a puppet/underling/personal union of other states (and how to escape such a predicament). Therefore I would really appreciate it if you could make a video on underling gameplay in general or maybe even a dedicated Norway video?

    if i did it again i would fix the mistake of preleveling atmosphere. cause in rev it resets ur progress on side switch. i should of been doing lathe whole time until the rev. it would of kept the progress since it keeps the progress of nat spreading things for some reason i believe. so it set me back a few thousnad points in tech. besides that. if its repeatable, its definetly the easy way to deal with discrimination ahead of even having the mining capabilities.
    currently 1948 and already have most liberal policies. recommend rev early if repeatable.

    Amazing! Ive been looking for an arumba-esque channel on vic3: i played a free weekend but couldnt navigate the UI well enough to struggle through till 1860-ish. Do you have a video(s) that goes indepth into "how to intuit the ui"?
    I.e. I had to export some fish and lumber, but had to go to a different tab to see the market price for that, then a different tab on a different panel to build more factroies. I'm coming from an euIV/vic2 mindset where "trade is under trade, production is production, and construction is construction". Why do i build factories in a different tab i delete them? I had been expecting more of a spread sheet simulator, but i was just confused at the presentation.

    Have you ever thought about branching out to other genres of games like RPGs? I absolutely adore your tutorials and Vic and RottK videos and would love to see your analytical gameplay style applied to more games in the future.
    Thanks for all the content and keep up the good work.

    what? No demand for sulfur in eco? Then go play a MP game, with Players having 30-40k Army Power on the field, and suddenly the sulfur is short.

    is promote national values not worth doing? is it impossible to assimilate native africans into boer culture?

      You only assimilate accepted pops, which defeats the purpose of the mechanic. Transvaal might be the only country where it's useful though, because I can assimilate an accepted pop, like English, and then they won't have the Malaria penalty. Also somewhat useful if you wanted to empower the PB, for whatever reason

    I wish this game handled colonialism and exploitation more historically accurately, while allowing for history warping in more interesting ways.
    These super racist, genocidal regimes didn't have problems employing mines, they just shot people who refused to work and worked the ones who did work until they died, while taxing their families into the dirt. This is why the colonies generated such enormous profits. The Brits took tens of trillions of dollars of wealth out of India in the real world, but you play the EIC in this game and you can't get iron mines in Andhar up to even 25% employment without a bunch of universities and decrees, *while on picks and shovels PM?* C'mon.
    Conversely, the ability for colonized people to adapt to and learn from their oppressors could serve as a more historically accurate technology accrual system that could work within the sort of God-king dynamic of these games. Some interesting mechanics could be technology 'theft', the coup mechanic reworked to allow 'native' uprisings that give huge benefits to a subsequent independence play, perhaps a guerilla war mechanic that makes holding the territory very costly for a GP.

      Overall there are a lot of problems with the current modelling of Colonization and the reality of Colonial regimes on the people colonized. Would probably require a whole DLC to really address correctly, or the modder community will need to do some creative work to better reflect historical reality.

      You sound like a brainwashed third worlder. Colonies weren´t that profitable in reality, otherwise the British Empire would have been 50x as rich as the German Empire for having so much more colonial land, yet the German Empire was superior in almost every aspect with almost no colonies. Germany was also superior to France with less colonies. But I agree that colonies had forced labor and that the game makes too much of a struggle out of it when it wasn´t.
