I took my solo flight in a 150 on July 20, 1969. One in the morning and one in the late afternoon. That evening I watched the Apollo astronauts first moon landing. Will never forget that day and that happy coincidence.

Tyler Pratt My instructor was a large man. He warned me the 150 was going to act different with him out of the plane. All went well until landing. The decent rate just was not there. Did a go around on my first solo. Never will forget it.

I remember my first solo...Cessna 172....I wasn't nervous about flying it...more nervous about making the decision to solo. Once I started taxiing I found myself doing the same things I been doing for months....the plane was a passenger lighter so it took off earlier and reached pattern altitude earlier....greased the landing...flipped up my microphone away from my mouth and yelled out: "YESSS!!!"
I remember as a white knuckled “yoke choker”, pranging a 150 back up to 500 feet. Loved those little kites. They just loved to fly and tried to keep doing so, and so forgiving. My Adrenaline was up for 3 or more days after my solo! Thanks for the memories “Sky Queen”!! Many happy and safe flights to you! Love your video. Thanks!!

That look of "holy sh*t!" exasperation when you realize you're completely alone and airborne... priceless. I almost got there 12 years ago in a helicopter and this was a cool reminder. ;)
My first solo was one of the most thrilling moments of my life! Nicely done. You greased it on at the end. After a few touch and goes, my instructor just opened the door and said, "It's yours." We hadn't discussed previously on that day that I would solo. Oh, shit I was nervous but what a thrill.
At 3:06 I didn't realize the footage was Sped up. I was like "Comin' in a bit hot there!"....3:11.."Oh Okay, phew!". Also, Great landing. Very smooth!

Congratulations!! Your first solo in an airplane is one of the greatest self-confidence boosters you can ever have...provided you survive, of course. ;) I remember my first solo in a C-150 back in 1974 like it was yesterday. I actually had to go around on my first final approach as a sailplane without a radio cut in front on me. Hasn't happened since. I hope you've kept up with your flying.
On my first solo, I remember all my senses magnifying. I could hear things I never heard before like engine noises and the wind rushing by. It sounded like I had a door open, and then to top it off, I got cut off on my final by another airplane having engine problems landing on my runway with no radio. I was at 800 feet with flaps down and found myself flying over wooded terrain feeling very sick about the situation. My instructor waiting for me on the ground chewed the other pilot out with no mercy! What a flight!

I don't know what the tradition is in Sweden, but in the USA, when a commercial aviation student makes their first solo, the instructor cuts the back and tail of their shirt off, writes the date and time, and the number of hours of lessons the student has had prior to solo, and hangs the shirt piece up in the airport for all to see. Obviously, from the shirt Solveig is wearing, that tradition is different in Sweden. It is still a great milestone, and she has joined a very exclusive club of people who have actually flown and landed an aircraft all by themselves. Congratulations (even if this is a year and a half later)!
That's a relief. At first I assumed you were going to go with the tradition of cutting off the front of the blouse, swinging the bra overhead and posting the video on YT.

Nice job, I remember my first solo flight my knee was knocking against the side panel. I also couldn't believe how fast I was climbing. I think you look much more composed and in control then I did. I actually bought a plane and my wife went on to get her license. Keep flying, it's the only way to leave the rest of the world behind.
I soloed 31 years ago.. .you never forget that feeling.. congratulations!

I soloed in a Cessna 150 way back in '74. Thanks for helping me relive that event. I had two major goals, SCUBA diver and pilot. Achieved both in '74 in Phoenix.

This is great! I made my first solo today exactly 50 years ago at Rotterdam The Hague Airport! It is a memorable event, August 18th, 1973...My dad forgot his camera but filmed my second solo. Today they can film your solo from the inside. I regret that I do not have my flight recorded...Lucky you!

Excellent job, I remember my solo flight over 40 years ago, it's something that will stay with.
I owned a 150 with observation windows on the doors, It was a blast to fly slow and steady. Soloing the Helicopter was one of the Greatest times in my Life!
Your first solo flight was on an overcast day in wet conditions and comfort level was enough that you were one handing the controls nearly the whole time?!?! Must be a much different training regimen than what usually get here in the U.S.

There are so many first solo videos from other students who cannot control the aircraft safely and survive more by luck than skills.

My CFI let me film dual but Since I've gone solo he won't. I don't think it would affect me but I understand why he feels that way. I've done 10 now and 4 in a single seater and I'm having a blast.
Hey Doc, the internal camera as you know is for the views and comments as we all know, but you are right the safety of the student and everyone on the ground is primordial.

I know what the camera was for. My comments had to do with her concentrating on flying instead of her hair! There's enough to do up there on your first solo without worrying about hair and wardrobe. And, as she can attest, I wasn't on her toes! You'll notice I wasn't negative regarding her flying, just her attention span. Cheers.
I know this video is a couple years old, but I am just beginning my lessons and am watching people’s solo flights. I retired from law enforcement and am looking to make aviation my next challenge. I can’t wait to reach that point. So, here’s a belated congratulations from the great state of Oklahoma, USA. Congrats on your success and hope you’re still flying!
