    Great vid dude. Its unfortunate that your block starts haven’t been so easy to adapt to, but you’ll get there. I think it’s great also how much you listen to your body, stopping when you need to will take you a long way. Great job!

      Thanks again my guy. For sure, I will get it figured out eventually, I hope. I've learned that I have to listen to my body after about 5 years of getting injured every other month... I'm a slow learner apparently but I do learn 😂. I appreciate you supporting as always

    Hey man Im seeing with your block starts that youre not really getting into a good shin angle during clearance. Whenever youre clearing rhe blocks you wanna be able to really drive the hip forward, and what happens as a result is, your front knee will drop and your weight will shift forward. I dont see you doing this tho, which could stem from not being able to get into good ranges within the knees and ankles. I think this is what you should really work on especially considering ur not bad at cycling ur leg underneath you. You should also really watch chris korfist explain the heel flick to get a better idea of what im talking about.

      Yes 100%, coach and I started working with that the week after this was recorded because I thought the exact same thing. I was "crowded". Great observation!

    Honestly as a 400mH, I wouldn't worry block starts in the 400 😂. It's the least important part of the race🎉

      Fair enough, but I would like to be effective at the 60, 100, 200 as well. And having a great start takes some pressure off through the middle of the race. But I see your point!

      I've heard some people suggest those before. Might have to throw them in. Thanks for watching!

    Do you agree you need to stay lower for longer on your block starts.

    • @SimonShawk5
      @SimonShawk5  7 місяців тому +2

      That's definitely a possibility. There are so many issues with my starts though it is extremely hard to narrow it down to one thing. And cueing "staying low" is usually a recipe for disaster. Our main focus is my foot strike. If the foot strikes in the right area it makes it a lot more likely for body angle to stay correct. I tend to cycle my heels which swings my leg forward, resulting in a foot strike slightly ahead of center of mass. That leads to a more vertical shin angle and pushes me upward. So that's the long version of yes, and we are working on it, one step at a time! Thanks for the feedback
