One of the best pedal review, not only for acoustic. Concerned speaker, exaustive analysis of the sounds, with the important aspects highlighted, not a single minute wasted. And knowing how to play an acoustic guitar like that of course counts a lot.

I think the user manual is VERY poorly written and will affect the sales of this unit unless they fix the problem OR better, find your review on UA-cam. Your Thumbnail on the UA-cam menu is in Dutch, so I was surprised that the review was in English. Great job of explaining and demonstrating the unit. Thank you again. I highly recommend your review to anyone interested in this unit.

Just checked the tap tempo again with the MS70CDR. You can activate the footswitch when held down for 1 sec to go to tuner or tap tempo. Set it to tap tempo. Hold the footswitch, the red light will show the tempo. Tap the tempo and when ready hold the footswitch again to go back.
Only delay effects that have a SYNC option are affected by the tap tempo. For instance set the SYNC to dotted eight notes. Good luck!

The middle button is used for tap tempo. The default action is to show the tuner when pressed for 1 second.
You should change that in the settings first to activate the tap tempo option. If that's changed you can activate it by pressing for 1 second and then using the same button to apply the tap tempo to the delay.
I hope that helps. It should also work the same on the MS50G? Does it work there correctly?
i have a Alhambra 5p E2 with piezo and microphone, do you recomend me this pedal or other?
Hi thanks for this review, can anyone with a Zoom A3 help me with this trouble shoot please, I don t know why but the control knob with the arrow up to the right stops working on my zoom A3 making it impossible to toggle to model types and so on, I did not use the pedal for a while and when I started to use it back and I realize the control knob with the arrow up is out of function, please give me some tips on how to solve this prob thanks.

Thanks for such a great review. It sounds really good. I have seen some criticism of this unit by some experts. They say because the guitar modelling is compulsory that only 2 effects are possible at once. What if they want reverb, chorus and delay? They ask what if they don't want guitar modelling? How would you answer these criticisms? Is there a new model coming soon?

Harry great review as always, thanks - you mention the body models can't be applied to the the xlr mic input, but Zoom doesn't mention this limitation on their A3 page/docs. I trust you more than Zoom, but is this true? (a deal breaker for me if so) And, is everything else accessible from its xlr input? (EQ, preamp level, effects etc.) thanks!

Great review and instruction, which I needed. I find the pedal a bit complex, or maybe counter-intuitive is the better word. But I'm getting it now. Odd how the effect light is off when the save presets are playing, and you can't toggle on/of when the presets are being scrolled through. Also, you can't review the parameters on a saved preset and tweak them - it always seems to start from scratch. On a serious note - when are you, Stuart and Andy getting together to make another album?

kan je effectsectie 1 (body types) ook uitzetten zodat ik alleen effectsectie 2 en 3 voor effecten gebruik. Ik wil n.l. niet dat mijn natuurlijke gitaargeluid bewerkt wordt door een virtuele body
They say the modelling and mics not as good as Aura Fishman which I have however Im getting this one as well.Bax could you answer is there anything wrong with using Aura 16 and Zoom A3 together in effects chain so I can get the great fx of A3 and have the Aura 16 for slightly better modelling and mics and which one do I put in front of the other in my fx chain?
Hey! Can i make, my steel strings, sounds like nylon strings with the A3? Or maybe put some presets like David Gilmour and another one?
There is a nylon emulation setting as a preset, and the guitar woill sound like a nylon guitar.
But you'll never get the real sound of a real nylon guitar.
Can u plug this directly into your computer with the USB?

You mentioned it has a microphone input..... does it have phantom power available? That would be great to have the direct sound and a condenser microphone mix at the pedal.

The balanced out is for recording and/or live mixer. It doubles as a soundcard, so you can plug it in your computer or recording device.

Ik sta op 't punt om de Zoom A3 te kopen maar twijfel nog i.v.m. het wel of niet kunnen uitschakelen van de body modellen. Kan dit wel of niet? Ik zag een video waarin ze in een patch een effect , bijv. 1 (van de 3) uitschakelde met de hoofdswitch. Maar ik lees op internet ook dat je de modellen niet kunt bypassen. Ik vind verder alle functies te gek maar ik wil niet dat het basisgeluid van mijn gitaar aangetast word, tenzij ik een bepaald effect van een gitaar wil.
Ben erg benieuwd of je dus effectblok 1 (het model) kunt muten. Groet, Mike

De preamp is zeker een goede optie om het geluid van de akoestische gitaar te optimaliseren en eventueel effecten toe te voegen.

Will it also simulate a resonator soun? I know it won't be perfect, but it's a lot easier than lugging around extra guitars. Haha
Yes, de Zoom A3 also has a Resonator Body Type!

hoi basshop team, vraag kun je nou ook wisselen tussen preset die je gemaakt hebt. dus van de ene naar de andere effect als je staat te spelen / bank up/ bank down?. En zou je deze unit ook kunnen gebruiken met een windinstrument. Mijn mic amp voor mijn instrument heeft gewoon een jack output dus ik kan het ook op gitaar effecten toepassen. Maar deze lijkt wel erg specialistisch alleen voor gitaar. wat is jullie ervaring hiermee.

Ja dat kan maar, je heb alleen up niet down, dus maak je 6 presets en je wil van 4 naar 2 bijvoorbeeld dan moet je door scrollen....ik gebruikt het live en ben weg van de ding, nu te vinden onder de 100 euro.....bargin of a lifetime

which do you prefer an A3 or a2.1 ? and what can you say comparing zoomA series and boss series i mean bossAD8 or AD3 comparing zoom a3 or a2.1?
An A3 is a more luxurious varian of the A2.1. A3 has more effect types and modules than the A2. In comparison to the Boss AD8/AD3, most Boss products are more organised in use. Besides, the AD-8 is a more extensive version of the AD-3.

Peter, I've been using the ZoomA3 for 6 months and really love it, playing in a small club or a big concert hall/outdoor stage it works beautifuly. To get a good sustain you can use the Compressor and the Arena Reverb. Also try the Slapback effect, you will get the "mirror" effect, a very short delay that will make your sound shine (it can be a longer delay if setting the feedback properly). Deppending on your guitar turn down the Mid knob a little bit and turn the Treble/High up to get a more natural, airy sound

Only two effects at once? With all those effects available, I would have thought a user would be able to get a little more creative with this unit. The question I have is why do I have to "model" the guitar I'm actually using. Once again, that speaks to the limitation of the effects chain. ie. there is a graphic or parametric EQ built in, but forget about using it if you want to use comp and verb. I don't get it. That can't be right. Where did I misunderstand? I even downloaded the manual. It says 2 effects at once. Are you kidding me?
Must be a good point Sid cause Bax-shop didn't offer any other answer. I guess if ya buy 2 of them, you can get 4 effects, 3 for 6, etc..
Just add a extra pedal with reverb or delay etc....

Can you do a little test for me? I just got an A3 based largely on this review, but mine has a quiet high pitched noise mostly noticeable while playing the lower notes on the low E string (quiet enough so is not masked)
Some guitar models inside the A3 have it more or less present (depending on the amount of high freqs on the model)
I'm trying to find out if this is a problem in my unit or this is a common problem on all of them....on one acoustic guitar forum some report this as well, some not, some say is a bad batch....I really need to figure out what's going on.

Good instructional video, but next time mix up the chords. . .listening to the same one for 20 minutes has made me crazy!
To me this has got to be the most complicated menu surfing piece of kit I have ever come across, one false move and you are sent on a long journey to get your settings back! Hate it! I only bought one to use it as a simple compressor there are far too many involved. in my opinion a bad piece of kit to gig with when you have a lot more on your mind to go menu surfing!
I have studied body language for a long time because I play on stage. I wanted to tell you after seeing many of your videos that you should realy watchout how much you shake your head back and forth in a NO NO NO fashion. It is giving your vids a negative vibe. Just tryin to help

My comment was only about his head shaking back and forth saying NO so much. It had NOTHING to do with his playing. And yes I have been playing for may many years I have played in many places and with many well known people. BUT again I am not saying anything about HIS or MY playing he is awesome. Learn to focus on what you're reading and what people are saying.
