I had that same generation of CR-V, a 2007, took it in for the recall last month and it failed. Honda ended up offering me a buyout for $7k. Sad to see her go but excited for new beginnings, getting myself a toyota 😅
If you live in an area that applies salt to the roads in the winter due to snow or ice make sure that you coat the underside of your vehicle with Fluid Film or an equivalent. It doesn’t matter what kind of car you drive that harsh salt will rot out your frame after 10-15 seasons. Best time to apply Fluid Film is in the fall before winter arrives.
Own the same generation CR-V (2011). One of best vehicles I've ever owned. See many of these on the road each day of my very long commute. Since I do most of the maintenance myself, my under carriage looks nothing like this. Just shocking to see so much deterioration of a cars under pinnings. This was not a good ending at all! RIP
@@FractalRealm yeah it’s annoying but slightly better than dealing with rusted stuff IMO. I can wipe the lanolin stuff away where I’m working and then reapply when I’m done
@@roofcamper3473 that is true, if it’s installed right away when the vehicle is new. If the vehicle is a few years old I don’t believe it can be cleaned good enough to get all the moisture and salt off of it.

Yeah, make sure it’s not a used Tacoma, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser or GX470 from a northern state as those had issues with frame rot.
@@MaximumDIYGarage It isn’t really exclusive to Toyotas.

I’m from Minnesota and that is exactly what the bottom of all our cars look like after a few years
Get an undercoat with a lanolin based product. I suggest blaster surface shield.
@@roofcamper3473 have you ever worked on anything with full undercoating? It’s also annoying asf.

@@FractalRealm that’s why only lanolin based products should be used, it doesn’t lock in moisture like rubber based undercoats!
It’s what happens when you don’t undercoat your car . RUST
So it's like a $5,000 car in Chicago.
Looks like a NYS vehicle 10 to 15 winters.
i bought the same boots you got on and just bought that teslong boroscope. i like what you reccomend. from 1 tech to another.
Here in Minnesota this is kinda normal after so many years. 🤷🤦
What years vehicles do the recall cover. What year is the CR-V in your video?
07-11 CR-V are the ones being recalled
If only someone made a car with nothing but stainless.... and not tesla
Part out crusher time Bud!
You calling that bad is funny this car looks in great condition normal is about 1.5x worst then that
what does Honda do for those that can't be fixed? buy the car out as-is?
That’s a little worse than average and yeah, it sucks ass
R&R car, lol.
