"A white man who challenged a black family’s use of a private community’s pool has not only resigned from the homeowners association board - he’s lost his job.
Sonoco announced Friday that Adam Bloom is no longer employed by the packaging and industrial products company, saying it doesn’t condone discrimination of any kind, even if it happens outside its workplace.
A video posted on the Facebook page of Jasmine Edwards on July 4, seen more than 4 million times, shows what happened after Bloom questioned whether she was allowed to be at the pool in Winston-Salem. He also called police."

People who call police for no reason, should be arrested for wasting the cops time.

That exists in certain situations. For example, if one is hiking or engaging in recreation/hunting in national parks/forests, and the US Parks Service or other agencies (federal and state) have to go in and rescue one's greenhorn arse from a situation one should have had enough sense to avoid (like getting lost, sinking one's car in a lake, etc.), the offender/victim is charged for the costs of the rescue.

Last summer, my then girlfriend & I went to my neighborhood pool. We're black & the homes in this neighborhood cost between 280k - 600k, so I guess this (white) woman though we were out of place when she felt the need to walk up to us & repeatedly ask how we got into the pool area & where we lived. We tried to ignore her, but she kept harassing us, so I started recording & flashed her the neighborhood keycard. Once she realized we belonged there & my girl started to ask why she was questioning us & nobody else, her whole vibe changed. It was terrible, so think of all the other times this happens in every single city, suburb, & neighborhood without being reported or uploaded to the internet. Damn shame.

Charge them with first degree murder because know damn well that calling the cops could very easily escalate a situation, therefore that is what they wanted to happen!!
R Smith Most of the time these people are looking for some sort of confrontation to justify police force. So the best way to deal with them is to act super friendly, answer all their questions, then flip it back on them and start asking them the same questions about themselves. Once they see your not bothered by them and that you also want to know their personal information, they'll get super uncomfortable and leave you alone because their intention is never to make friends, it's always to alienate.
Some of these people need to get convicted of racial harassment and do time. Some people are too stupid and ignorant that that's the only thing that'll wake them up.
I have not always been a big fan of smart phones, but I am so glad we now have them to expose events like this which have been happening for decades under the radar.

I live in Australia and I shudder when all this racial prejudice hits the news. What I can't understand is, the black person is always called an African American. I have never heard an Irishman called an Irish American, an English American a French American, and so on. So, to call them an African American when they were born in America just doesn't fit. Wow this happed to me and a friend when we went to our pool and the lady ask for id and my friend was about to hand her his id and I slapped his hand down and needless to say she went on about her business because I wasn’t having it and my family were one of the first to move into the neighborhood while it was still being built 🙄
This kinda of thing happens to my wife all the time (not a pool). She's Mexican and I'm white, when she shops with me, no problem. She's not followed or questioned. When she's alone, she gets followed around the store and treated like a criminal, it's disgusting.

People should face a fine when they call the cops on people for racist reasons. You know the only times in my life I’ve ever called the cops was when there was an actual EMERGENCY.
Examples like when I saw a car catch on fire at an accident, and when a tree fell on my house, in my room while I was sleeping. Actual emergencies. These prejudiced people call the cops because a person of color was there, no one should be allowed to use the cops as an intimidation tactic. But sadly it happens...It’s just so disgusting.
They might of been experiencing a lot of trespassers causing trouble and breaking in to use the pool there and it's possible that the guy didn't recognize them as residents(well of course he didn't that's why he was asking for proof).. I just think this is dumb cuz it happened to me twice at two different apartment complexes and didn't think twice about it due to the fact that the person watching out over the pool didn't know me.

I totally agree with you 100% however this particular pool is like a condo community pool and is a private pool for condo residents and their guests only, which means that each residents is probably paying almost a thousand dollars or more in condominium fees in order to have things like pools and gardeners, so as someone who works very hard for her money I would not want a bunch of people there who don’t live there and should not be there. That being said I would expect whoever that guy was to know who the residents are. I used to actually live in a condo community with a pool and we had a head groundskeeper lady who had an office right next to the pool hall and she made a point of knowing the residents. But yeah if you need a key to get in, why call the police?

Well speaking of racial profiling I had the honor of chilling out in my high-end vehicle talking to an old friend across from me in another vehicle at a popular gas station.
When I noticed a white female looking across at me from her vehicle while she was waiting in the do-it-yourself car wash line with a very inquisitive look on her face I thought she was trying to figure out what black celebrity I might be...
Went to my surprise she suddenly jumped out of her vehicle walked past me went into the office of the service station and then came back out... Suddenly the managers came outside laughing and informing us that the lady said there was a big drug deal getting ready to go down with these two black guys and that they should call the cops.
With racial profiling in California it's actually a catch-22... You see you get on people's nerves if you appear to be on the Poor Side of things... But you also pick-up even more hate if they believe you are doing way better than they are and that part has been left out of these conversations. I've noticed that most of my problems have been coming from whites who are not doing as well as I'm doing in life and also racist Asians who are not dealing with the fact that they're originally from Africa as well.

I was asked for my ID at our neighborhood pool because I had tattoos. I was forced to show my drivers license to prove I lived in the neighborhood. There are people everywhere who have a view of who belongs where.
Same thing happened to me at two different places I used to live at.. The people there just claimed that they've never seen me there before and wanted to make sure because they were having troubles with trespassers and people trashing the pool.. It was annoying but I didn't make a big fuss over it

I got in trouble at my job for effectively not calling the police. I work at a hotel and black man rented a room and left he wasn't in the room but he let his 'friend' use the room. This friend is not allowed at our hotel anymore (she is a white lady) and neither was her friend that showed up both have been kick out of the hotel. When he came back I informed him of this and he asked if he could just leave and not be charged and I let him. I did this because I didn't want to escalate the situation to the point that I would have to call the police to evict him; I was concerned that this man may end up dead if I would have done so. I did the right thing and would do it again even if I get in trouble at my work; my jobs not worth a life.

It is "at will" employment that you are talking about and you sign a form stating that you understand that at the time of hire. There is no such thing as fired for no reason. They can fire him he can turn around and sue the company for wrongful termination. He can also still get his unemployment benefits because the proper steps for termination we're not followed. Since States are stricter on employee rights than others, but he still has rights.
