“fish the mint from the blood, pooling in the pillows” creates such a raw and striking image in your head, gives off the same energy as “ashes to ashes nine to five, the light in the tunnel has been privatised”, like these are so creative
“The one reliving it is beyond deliverance.” I looked up the lore of the game based on that line and wow, Stupes wasn’t kidding. It’s really nice to see a game set in hell where the protagonist deserves to be there.

Wow! Two things I think we should all appreciate about Greg: 1. He can be creepy as hell! 2. I love how he always makes good backgrounds and it never looks out of place when he's green screened in front of them!
The game is Dark Deception, and it’s quite fun. The gameplay can best be described as horror game pac man with twists, but there’s also lore to uncover
Every time Stups releases a new song I get excited the most for the chorus because without fail everytime he makes the most catchy chorus. and this time....is no exception! Beautiful wordplay and lyrics, haunting melody and overall much like most stupendium songs, it makes me want to play the game it's based off of.
you know, that's something I've never really thought of but you are one hundred percent right about. He nails the chorus every time and they often contain the lyrics I remember the most
Definately need a whole collection of each chapter and theme. Like having victorian style for the golden statues or like club music for the nurses. That would be amazing to see each chapter given its own dedicated song
@@evagarcia865 It would probably have lines from the JoyJoy theme song in it and probably all the members singing it in different verses and in the last verse Joykill (The combination of all three) would sing. And i got a cool name already: "EnJoyJoy your stay". Would be a cool concept
I always loves how he made what is basically the most insignificant chapter that's forgotten basically the moment it's over. Suddenly feel like the magnum opus of the game. He gives so much personality to this murderous staff. As a long time fan of Dark Deception I love this.
You know, I was first introduced to the game by this song. And when I first heard it I thought it was purely about a hotel in hell where you need to survive murder monkeys. I mean, I wasn't wrong but it left out a whole lot of info about *literally everything else*
As someone who just recently played through whole dark deception, I must say: you really really nailed the atmosphere. Time to listen at least 500 times.
I don't personally play these types of horror thriller games. But that will not stop me enjoying all the songs you've done and no doubt will continue to do, that are based on them. Bravo sir! Bravo!
A song for every chapter would be dope for Dark Deception! This song is amazing and insanely good at capturing the mix of horror and action the game creates. Thank you for creating a song for my favorite horror game!
Can we take a minute to appreciate that the monkeys’ eyes at 2:43 move in tune with the little “bwah” noises?!? The amount of little details in these videos is absolutely stellar!
I absolutely loved the chef's verse and just how wonderfully catchy "Our little hotel in hell where the bellhops bite" is, such a delightful line, really sums up the song beautifully
I will do what no one else is willing to. List all the bananas: 0:19 - In the panting either side of the counter. +2 (There are two other paintings one is of a bellhop monkey, the other is I think a shard from the game, but I'm not sure) 0:40 - On top of the luggage cart. +1 (Extra detail, Some of the luggage has tags/initials. G.H. is Stupe's own initials, idk W.Y.K., D. BULL is referring to Dan Bull and IAN, probably refers to Insane Ian who appears as one of the ghosts later, 2nd from the left) 0:53 - On the shirt of the satisfied hotel patron +11 0:53 - Almost a single frame in the camera turn +1 0:55 - Two in the paintings either side +2 1:00 - 1:18 Several Paintings +6 1:20 - Appropriately themed pool tool +1 1:30 - Tricky ones. I counted 14 distinct bananas, but you could argue that there is an indeterminable amount +14 1:35 - Likewise I counted about 12 bananas we could see, though its very hard to tell +12 1:42 - 2 banana weights in the background +1 (Extra detail the towel he has is covered in blood, which is just a nice detail) 1:48 - 3 bananas for the drink taps + 6 for the drink logos +9 2:02 - 2:21 I counted 5 more paintings during the chase (Extra detail at 2:03, the picture on the left is one of the living portraits from Stupe's "Rogue's Gallery" Song, the one at 0:52 in that song) There are also bananas at 2:21 and 2:53, but I counted those already. The grand total is 61 distinct Bananas give or take a few. Stupes puts so much effort into his music videos, each one is such a treat. There always so detailed. So much love to him and his great tunes
1:00 if you look closely to the right you can actually see another banana painting. and at 1:03 if you slow down the vid theres another banana 1:10 freeze it there 1:14 if you look closely to the left you can barley see another banana painting 1:17 sorry theres alot of these anyways look to the left again and you will see it 1:21 the banana floaty counts as a banana 1:31 there is like 50 of them also ive been doing this for a bit so you can figure out the rest yourself ill count more when i see them!
I must say it. That maze running segment during the chorus is amazingly well done. Especially the camera motions and the way the bellhops run around while the player flees. It's utterly genius. Not to mention the regular stupendium brilliance of fantastic costumes and utterly unbeatable wordplay. You keep outdoing yourself. I'm perpetually amazed.
Stupendium. As a huge dark deception fan, you have no idea how happy you making this song makes me. Thank you so much for being the center of my music library.
"Whilst on your way to retribution, we hope that you enjoy your stay of execution" is a genius line, and the chorus is an especially well made chorus, and the visuals are stunning
Fun Fact: The Murder Monkeys always know where you are. Even when you are in a secret room, but they still don't enter the secret rooms even if the door is open. They just stand outside and wait for you to come out.
The thing I find most interesting about this is that Agatha CANNOT see into one of the secret rooms - the contents appear to be legitimately hidden from her awareness.
Though the bellhop was rather bitey and murderous, the complimentary breakfast was delicious and the pool wasn't crowded and proved delightful entertainment once we got past the smell of the rotting lifeguard. However, with the murder of my friend I checked in with I had to deduct points from my final score as he was my ride and that put a damper on the rest of my trip through hell. Three out of five stars
Even when the staffs eyes glowed red, i felt great even when i saw someone try to order room service and some demonic monkey ran up to him, cut him to pieces, and ate him on the spot. 4/5 stars. Very thematic, but for demonic adventures, i prefer Hotel Helltaker.
I also enjoyed my stay quite a lot, the staff chased me to my room and stood outside my door the entire night so I wouldn’t get lonely. Was kind of annoying that they were also clawing out the door and screaming like banshees. Breakfast was amazing, all I could eat because I was apparently the only one there. However, on my way out, one of the bellhops ran up to me, cut off my hands and ate them. Bit of a damper on my review, 4/5 stars
A very nice stay, I wasn't botherered as much by the staff as they where busy chasing other guests, and i didn't need my right eye anyways. the only problem was the human finger in my banana split was raw. 4/5 stars.
checked in with my friend doomslayer. the food was great, although dinner still had a few bones in it. the pool was fun, especially with the cute fish monster to keep us company. the beds were as comfortable as a coffin, and room service was great. the only problem is that the staff seemed to be trying to avoid us at all costs, most especially me for some reason, but otherwise an excellent day. 420/69 stars, feels just like home.
The staff that could speak were very kind yet blunt and the bar of killed guests (and a handsome man wearing red and sunglasses looking for a harem of demon girls) were very helpful in tips for surviving. The breakfast was a bit too sour but it’s hell so I’m fine with it and The paintings in the hallways where either abstract or just blurred due to running. 4/5 stars, the company was great but I really would have loved to take the time to look at the decor
As soon as the piano hit, I was already enamored, the flow of the voice introduced in the first verse transcended the already amazing song, and the chorus sent this song to a level of heaven alien to the hellish hotel shown here. You outdo yourself every time!
I just absolutely LOVE every part of stupendium's compositions, how his voice sets the tone to each and every character, the way he IS in character on outside-song quotes like the start and end of them, it has brought me such joy to watch his videos because of those little details that always skyrocket the quality.
I've been debating whether or not I should play dark deception, and this song may have just convinced me. I adore the vibe of this song and instantly became of my favourites! I'll be listening to this one over and over for a while, and watching! the visuals are on point as always! The animation is gorgeous and its always fun to see all the wacky costumes the Stupendium wears.
Though I am unremarkably new to your channel, and have but before since recently been lamentably incognizant of the truly phantasmagorical and beyond commendable nature of the comprehensively beautiful artistry of your craft- I am now proudly a new member of your fanbase. Thank you for what you do, and my truest apologies for having not discovered you sooner, Sir.
the tourist on the review located at 2:40 is dressed the same as the corspe in 0:52 which should be a testiment of the gold standard of not only the stupendium songs of which are all bangers but the video's detail making it mandatory actually pay attention to fully enjoy it
also, his review is "five stars! never a survivor!", which could mean that either no one survives, or he specifically always dies on his visits, which would make sense given that the first time we see him is a pile of guts and bonee
Dont know the game, dont know what's going on, I'm probably missing a lot of references, but holy smokes! This is such a bop, the atmosphere is top notch, bthe writing is clever and it's very easy to tell that you worked your heart out (probably literally seeing all the biting bellhops). Though then again, what else did I expect from one of, if not the best musician on the platform? Keep rocking on Stupes! You're doing an amazing job as always and keep it up!
just so you know the song is based off of the action, horror game known has dark deception with the song taking place in the very first level of the game where you are chased by killer... well monkey bellhops
@@Mr_Just_JoJo it’s a pacman type mazerunner. With very Arcady mechanics that actually make it less horror and more action as you progress through the game unlocking various tools and power ups. It’s fun but a recent update left certain levels virtually unplayable for the time being due to bugs so if you do pick it up keep that in mind.
Amazing how I am so engaged with these songs even though I had quite literally never heard of this game before. So much talent and skill coalesced into a single person, and my ears are happy that that's how it is.
are we going to ignore the fact that when he said "but if you try to check your trip advisor, you'll likely trip and die sir" he literally made the person get dragged away when the enemy show on the map reached them. THE ATTENTION TO DETAIL IS CRAZY. Edit: OH MY GOD YES I GOT A LIKE FROM THE STUPENDIUM HIMSELF YESSSSS
1:49 this is my second time watching and noticed insane Ian as one of the ghost. I love his reactions and I'm so happy. Great video as always stupes! :)
A detail I just noticed is that the bar is labelled "Monkey Bar". No matter how deep I look, you always seem to have more wordplay around every corner. Fantastic work.
The flow and style of this is very reminiscent of the theory that the ten levels are a mix of Dante’s Inferno plus some extra sins and how the Monkeys represent violence because, according to the lore, they are the souls of killers who left behind their humanity to become violent murderers. I hope more things like that appear any other Dark Deception songs! (Also a bit of a tip for if you do a song based on the second level: Agatha and her level is most likely based on Anger/Wrath)
Here you go, just because you referenced it: Murder Monkeys: Murderers Agatha: Vengeful Spirit Gold Watchers: Greedy People Dread Duckies: Deceivers Clown Gremlins: Trolls Reaper Nurses: Misandrists Joy Joy Gang: Some kind of gluttonous beings. Mama Bear: Abusive Mothers Trigger Teddies: Technically soulless, but problematic behavior in a sense.
I'm gonna be honest when I say this, but your songs never fail to amaze me,literally every song is either able to bring a huge comfort,or destroy my art block. Bc of how well done they are, literally I can go hours and hours watching all your videos and i still would want to rewatch them again, the songs....omg the songs are amazing. You're literally so underrated, and imma be honest again,I am proud to be a Stupendium fan,and I'm so glad to come across your channel a while back. Hands down, best music channel man. Thank you for being my huge inspiration.
Agree the art is so good and the lyrics it excites me when a new video comes there always a bop to li a ten cant wait for new christmis holiday rright for december this year
Once again, every Stupendium chorus is better than the last, its honestly almost unbelievable at this point. Some day you'll slip up and I can have a /consistent/ favorite Stupendium song. "Checkout is at one, not that you need to know" Is definitely my favorite pair of lines in this song.
I like how optimistic you are even if Stupendiun slips up. And, ironically, your favourite line is one of the few I don't understand. Could you explain it to me please?
I watched it a dozen times and just now realized:"but the baggage that's emotional / well that can stay with you" - emotional baggage - all the regret and pain that brought Doug here. Brilliant wordplay
For a song lying in wait for almost 2 years, it's as fresh as ever. I don't know anything about the game and I don't care - I could listen to this on repeat. Great chorus, absolutely love it! And I have to complement the visuals, for making most Stupendium songs stand apart from those of other creators.
Not only have your rhymes and flow continued to be astounding, but your regular singing has only gotten better and better. You sir, are a genuine inspiration.
To me, there are 3 elements that make a good Stupendium video; music, animation, and live-action. Most of his songs achieve high ranks in each of these, but this is one of those special songs that somehow perfects all 3, The song itself is catchy as hell and amazing, the animated scenes, as well as the monkies in general, look friking incredible, and Stupes pulling off the role as a demonic, yet polite bellhop, along with the miscellaneous hotel staff, are terrific. This song has instantly risen up as one of my favorites, and given I know diddly squat about the game it's based on, just goes to show how phenomenal this one is 😁 Also, love the Random Encounters & Insane Ian cameos, not only were they cute li'l easter eggs, but they give a sort of "Shining" vibe & it's oddly fitting Oh and don't think you could slip that Adam flask on the bar shelf behind ya & get away with it ol' STUPSEY-BOY! I'm onta ya lol Anyway yeah, great video & hope ya have a good day mate 😁
How do you manage to turn out a bop every single upload?!? I'm honestly convinced you sold your soul for this amount of skill. Also, to answer the question at the end, I think it's safe to say everyone would be completely down for more Dark Deception songs. Great work as always!
Someone here said that he has to be an AI because of the amazing raps he pumps out and the way he perfectly captures every character he plays. I must agree, stupendous.
I loved this video. Good job. Especially liked 1:30, I think it fits very well. Disappointed it wasn't about the entire game and just 1 chapter, but this was written 2 years ago, and the game isn't even fully completed now, so I guess it's not exactly fair to complain about this, haha. I also might be a bit biased because of it, but I also like it because this whole song reminds me of the Fine Print, with the whole "Welcoming our guests" part, the general vibe and etc. Great video overall, definitely one of your songs ever made. (But how many "Songs I wrote but didn't finish yet" scripts do you have? Like this has got to be like the 3rd one or something, the previous being the Lego vs Minecraft battle. )
Love it, I love the voices especially the cook's, but the clearly devilish yet playful voice of the concierge just pulls it all together. Awesomely done!
Welp, that's another one of your masterpieces without a doubt Mr. Stupendium Sir ! The art and vibe are, in my opinion, quite close to the Death and Taxes song you've done but this one being more on the agressive and creepy side. And nice cameo from Insane Ian and the trio from Random Encounters (love their work
It is clear that the author put his soul into this song! A wonderful presentation and a wonderful editing and an even MORE wonderful song! Huge respect for this approach to work!
If having a Dark deception song wasn't a treat alone seeing RE at 1:49 made me love this even more, great work as always this song well be in my head for the next week, really hope you make more songs for this game
This is one of the sickest beats you've dropped, love the flow on the chorus too! Whenever I think "No Way he can top that!" You go and do it. Keep up the AMAZING work stupes!
2:47 “Checkout is at one. Not that you need to know. Pay your tab at the front desk, or death will be slow.” This fits so well with the song, considering the hotel that holds these murderous monkeys, is a hotel that our protagonist deserves to stay at. Thank you for the amazing song, and keep up the good work!
I love the attention to detail in all of Stup's videos. How the background changes in subtle ways, how there is always a new detail whenever you rewatch the video. Its absolutely bananas the amount of monkey business Stups stuffs in these things!
Great stuff as always. Love the detail in the monkey's eyes at 2:46, where there last random twitch is ever so slight to look at the person, and only then turning red. Its stuff like this that makes me love your stuff. Keep it up!
I love how this guy sings. He's got such a funky way of singing all the lyrics in just the right way to make daydreaming little scenarios to his music such more enjoyable.
1:49 "geez i swear i saw Nate, Gwen and AJ" **realizes they are actually Nate, Gwen and AJ** BTW THIS IS AMAZING!!! YOU NEVER DISAPPOINT WITH YOUR MUSICS
Something I love about the stupendium’s music is that they always find a way to make the most catchy chorus! I am not that familiar with the game itself but the music was incredible! Seriously great job stupendium, and continue to make amazing songs!❤
First: Awesome work. Second: Remember this game. Glad such a good song was written about it, it’s quirky and thematic enough to deserve one. Third: Yes, I would like more songs about the other nightmares, thx.
This was an awesome song, and I'm not sure about anyone else, but I'd definitely love to see some more songs on Dark Deception if you find the time! it'd be great to see what you could do with some of the other freaky, funky characters the game has to offer!
I think he could do a Hellva lot with Deadly Decadence. The one that had the statues that follow you. And are all like based off a gentleman, he’d go ham on that.
it's videos like this that remind me of how many good songs stupendium has beyond The Fine Print and House Always Wins, i need to listen to more than just those two 😭
Was just sitting bopping throughout the entire song, just paused and replayed 1:48-1:51 as I for a moment couldn't believe I actually recognized the whole crew of guests there, a nice surprise. Wonderful work!
Every single Stupendium upload always has a distinct feel, voice and setting and I LOVE how you can squash in an exorbitant amount of puns and jokes in there. Each one of your songs is like a totally new experience!
It’s absolutely crazy that I’ve seen your videos popping up in my recommended at least since 2017 and you make these AMAZING songs with full high quality music videos, and you still don’t have at least a million subscribers!! You definitely deserve it for all the work you and your team put in
So, let me get this straight. You: Make the song, The vocals, The animation, The editing, Dress up for (practically) every video, And upload EVERY month? Whatever the opposite of "One Trick Pony" is, Thats you. Bravo!
I hate that UA-cam never suggests cool channels like this until they've been out for ages despite this being literally what I prefer to watch on my down time.
I'm still getting over how good the last song one was, and now you drop this on me. I've got stuff to do, and now I have to spend more time listening to this.
LYRICS:
VERSE 1:
There's a cosy little place tucked away
Between the third and fourth circle of hell
Where you can take a break, make a great vacation
Maybe take in just a little damnation as well
So ring the bell - we're excited to welcome you in
No time here to dwell on your sins
Your itinerary's fairly heavily perilous but let me share the various
amenities you're getting within
If you’ve got luggage, the staff can take it through
But the baggage that's emotional - well that can stay with you
You've clearly packed a bag with plans to stay a day or two
But it's pretty optimistic if you think you won't be strewn
Across the floor, twisted and deformed
little bits of blood and gore chewed and spit out of the maw
Of a vicious set of jaws In a spiffy uniform
All your sins have a cost
But your death is complimentary of course
CHORUS:
It’s just monkey business
But with one key difference
That the one reliving it
Is beyond deliverance
We've got one piece hidden in
Deep amongst these remnants
Of our one-time residents
In our little hotel in hell where the bellhops bite
VERSE 2:
We're afraid to say that the pool is closed
Since the life guard started to decompose
Down here things lurk deep below
So stay clear if you want to keep your toes
The continental breakfast will be served ‘til ten
But nobody ever wakes up to attend
‘Cause if you lay your head on a bed you'll be too dead for eggs
And you'll never eat bacon again
Our gymnasium's stocked with the best utensils
Though you ought to be running without the treadmill
The bar is a haunt with all the spirits you want
They were all the last guests to get killed
We've so many amenities, no chance of boredom
We both know you've already seen the ballroom
A little reminder you've a riddle to find or
It is frivolous fighting your doom
CHORUS:
It’s just monkey business
But with one key difference
That the one reliving it
Is beyond deliverance
We've got one piece hidden in
Deep amongst these remnants
Of our one-time residents
In our little hotel in hell where the bellhops bite
VERSE 3:
Think twice before you use that phone by the bed
Room service will cost you an arm and a leg
And a torso, a stomach a neck and a head
The menu’s sparse but the staff’s well fed
We'll provide a device that might help you find the
Shards you've been tasked with and hide from the nightmares
But if you try to check the TripAdvisor
You'll likely trip and die, sir
Five stars, never a survivor
We're not winding you up
We're not letting you go
Fish the mint from the blood pooling in the pillows
Checkout is at one - not that you need to know
Pay your tab at the front desk or death will be slow
We strongly urge that you defer your day's ablutions
The concierge will start the purge before you're through them
Whilst on your journey on the way to retribution
We hope that you enjoy your stay of execution
CHORUS:
It’s just monkey business
But with one key difference
That the one reliving it
Is beyond deliverance
We've got one piece hidden in
Deep amongst these remnants
Of our one-time residents
In our little hotel in hell where the bellhops bite

0:27 my guy did not just tell us to turn on notifications during the song. This is a bop, dont even know the game, especially the chorus
Beautiful wordplay and lyrics, haunting melody and overall much like most stupendium songs, it makes me want to play the game it's based off of.
the best thing: you can't disagree
you know, that's something I've never really thought of but you are one hundred percent right about. He nails the chorus every time and they often contain the lyrics I remember the most

Definately need a whole collection of each chapter and theme. Like having victorian style for the golden statues or like club music for the nurses. That would be amazing to see each chapter given its own dedicated song
What would the song for the theme park FNAF-looking guys sound?
@@evagarcia865 It would probably have lines from the JoyJoy theme song in it and probably all the members singing it in different verses and in the last verse Joykill (The combination of all three) would sing. And i got a cool name already: "EnJoyJoy your stay". Would be a cool concept

Don't think God's got any business here
Can we take a minute to appreciate that the monkeys’ eyes at 2:43 move in tune with the little “bwah” noises?!?
The amount of little details in these videos is absolutely stellar!
Another little detail is before they all focus on the viewer they don't move as much as if they all just noticed you right there.
I absolutely loved the chef's verse and just how wonderfully catchy "Our little hotel in hell where the bellhops bite" is, such a delightful line, really sums up the song beautifully
I will do what no one else is willing to. List all the bananas:
0:19 - In the panting either side of the counter. +2 (There are two other paintings one is of a bellhop monkey, the other is I think a shard from the game, but I'm not sure)
0:40 - On top of the luggage cart. +1 (Extra detail, Some of the luggage has tags/initials. G.H. is Stupe's own initials, idk W.Y.K., D. BULL is referring to Dan Bull and IAN, probably refers to Insane Ian who appears as one of the ghosts later, 2nd from the left)
0:53 - On the shirt of the satisfied hotel patron +11
0:53 - Almost a single frame in the camera turn +1
0:55 - Two in the paintings either side +2
1:00 - 1:18 Several Paintings +6
1:20 - Appropriately themed pool tool +1
1:30 - Tricky ones. I counted 14 distinct bananas, but you could argue that there is an indeterminable amount +14
1:35 - Likewise I counted about 12 bananas we could see, though its very hard to tell +12
1:42 - 2 banana weights in the background +1 (Extra detail the towel he has is covered in blood, which is just a nice detail)
1:48 - 3 bananas for the drink taps + 6 for the drink logos +9
2:02 - 2:21 I counted 5 more paintings during the chase (Extra detail at 2:03, the picture on the left is one of the living portraits from Stupe's "Rogue's Gallery" Song, the one at 0:52 in that song)
There are also bananas at 2:21 and 2:53, but I counted those already.
The grand total is 61 distinct Bananas give or take a few. Stupes puts so much effort into his music videos, each one is such a treat. There always so detailed. So much love to him and his great tunes
I was not expecting a banana count! This brought a smile to my face, thank you! And nice spot with the Rogue's Gallery Easter egg. ;)
This really shows how much effort goes into his videos
Wait I got like 17 in the kitchen, counting the platter and stuff on the counter.
I think W.Y.K. on golf club could be a reference to Bioshock, there is a specific scene with words starting with W.Y.K. and a golf club

Fun Fact: The Murder Monkeys always know where you are.
Even when you are in a secret room, but they still don't enter the secret rooms even if the door is open. They just stand outside and wait for you to come out.
Every second you arnt running, they're getting closer!
Start running.
Murder Monkeys: Professionals, have STANDARS
Game dev tip: AI always knows where you are, only task of dev is conceal that fact more or less depending on intended difficulty
@@annoyance.2583 this is the axiom from which giga monty was born
I just absolutely LOVE every part of stupendium's compositions, how his voice sets the tone to each and every character, the way he IS in character on outside-song quotes like the start and end of them, it has brought me such joy to watch his videos because of those little details that always skyrocket the quality.

also, his review is "five stars! never a survivor!", which could mean that either no one survives, or he specifically always dies on his visits, which would make sense given that the first time we see him is a pile of guts and bonee

Dark Deception is a good game
This song has instantly risen up as one of my favorites, and given I know diddly squat about the game it's based on, just goes to show how phenomenal this one is 😁
Also, love the Random Encounters & Insane Ian cameos, not only were they cute li'l easter eggs, but they give a sort of "Shining" vibe & it's oddly fitting
