Many mosquitoes nowadays are not attracted to light, and may even avoid light and look for dark spots. Even the large purple bulbs don't attract them anymore.
@@razenby I actually got one of these and it works pretty well if you modify it by placing a small bowl with dry ice or yeast and warm sugar water on top. Its more of a hassle than just plugging it in but the CO2 that's released does draw them in close enough to be snared by the fan :)

No. If your your eye was withing a 6 inches (15cM) inches of the LED it would not be advisable. The main out put of the LEDs is not in the visible range of your eye so you wont experience the dazzle response that would make you look away. The near UV is not ionizing so it cant cause arc-eye.
So you need to capture the aroma of smelly feet and sweat, put socks on the misses and wrap them around that fan. They like her, so her feet or armpits are the ideal bait. You could of cause seal any water containers/ponds to starve the little gits from a hatching home :-D.
How could you test this properly if you used a bug spray in there. That looks like a June bug, not the common black beetle. Not many mosquitos for that period of time, I dont know if I would pass this, not worth the money
Bug Spray was used after the collection test was complete to kill the insects before I opened it in my office. If you need it for mosquitoes then don't buy it. Read the other comments.
Sorry, the rain water collector or 'water butt' as we call it in the UK is an English tradition found at most houses. Fortunately we don't suffer the same mozzy issues as many warmer places. Now it is 2 weeks before mid-summer and the air temp is 11 degrees in the south of the UK.

There are very few biting insects there (the big mosquitoes don't bite). It seems that it catches mostly harmless insects.

The BIG mosquitos are crane flies.

About UK£12 I think. It is a load of junk but has a nice FAN. I use it as a small extractor to whip away epoxy fumes in the mixer.

I'm OK - I use the wife as a decoy .. evidently she is so much more succulent than I am. They love her ankles.
