Hey Rod just leaving SF Cantina on Bantayan, we really like that place, about 40 a night. Really Filipino beach vibe, but not much snorkeling. Rented a scooter 6 a day. I think the same kid sang the same song on karaoke for 3 days, all good its the Philippines. Headed back to Mactan for a few days.
Some of the bars on Mango would do a lot more business if the owners would realize that western men in their 60s and 70s do not want to hear the top 40 hip hop songs on iTunes at ear-splitting volume. I guess they figure that is what is selling so everyone must love it and not taking into account that mostly only people in their teens and twenties actually buy music. The places with bands playing classic rock seem to be the busy ones.
Unbelievable to think that a few western men think that owners should play the oldies, but goodies in their clubs/discos to bring in business. Owners play music that cater to young people, like those 18, 19, and maybe 20 year old girlfriends those 60+ year old guys have. I'm in my 60s and love most of the top 40 music. By the way, people don't buy music anymore...download from the internet.
@@kevinwhite5134 Owners should probably cater to the people who are buying the drinks. In the bars on Mango, that's old foreigners. I'm not talking about clubs and discos. I'm talking about lady drink bars. And, of course people buy music. You think the music industry gives away downloads for free?
rod I'm always ready for the Philippines visiting now 13 years from Arkansas. I feel young in the Philippines and free from the bullshit of America. can't wait to get back soon for real this time from Willard Polk.
Good video Rod. I never saw Angeles before 2017 and it wasn't the wild place I was led to believe. If someone is looking for wild, I would say you want manila. I wasn't looking for wild, just meeting a couple of friends, but I did go looking for Andy's Pies, which I can recommend. I hope you are still healing well.
I thought it was decent… lots to do… disco, karaoke, live music at many bars and restaurants,,,sports bar… bikini bar.,, bar fine bar, casino, ktv….lots of options….
Typical Saturday night @Mango back then: eating, billiards and a couple of San Mig at Barcode restobar. After midnight clubbing at Uptown and trying to take a girl home:D
Hello Rod mate.FYI. Gen.Arcadio Maxilom 1862/1924 Born Tuburan. Teacher and Revolutionary Hero during the Philippines Revolution. Originally this street was named Mango Ave because of the Mango trees lining the street during early years and was later name changed in honour of General Maxilom. You probably know this anyway, Rod, LoL.
Im not into the girly bar, or club scene. I do like to go to a nice Resto bar on occasion, have some good food, have a few drinks, and listen to some live music.
Much quieter than it used to be. Local bars were good places to visit there but virus finished them off and some over zealous officialdom, shame really and has affected tourism. Very slowly recovering but will take years to reach pre lockdown choices of night time entertainment. Nevertheless some good bars for expats and more locals now attending venues.than before.
Hey brother, I'm just curious because I'm a bit confused. When you say traffic circle, do you mean a roundabout, or is it something completely different? Also, I appreciate the content, man. I am planning to watch way more of your condo buying videos from forigners. Appreciate it.
E travel is no big deal really, it’s five or ten minutes online instead of filling in a paper form. I’m not good at stuff like that, but it was pretty simple.
I am really amazed how expats in the Philippines seem to believe that the Philippine Government was unique in causing businesses to fail during the pandemic. There's a guy who lives in Angeles City who posted tons of videos during that time as he would be walking Fields Street, 20 times more popular than Mango, that included very critical comments on this subject about the "authorities" closing things up by all but halting all tourism. My God, are you guys so isolated from the rest of the world that you don't even follow world news. Do you realize that 7 MILLION people died of Covid and that 700 MILLION contracted it? Did you ever see the 40' refrigerator trailers outside hospitals in places in Italy, New York and around the world storing the dead? It was a WORLD WIDE PANDEMIC!!! Patong Beach's Bangla Road in Thailand, 50 times larger than Mango and Fields combined, was a ghost town for 2 years. You guys there in the Philippines are a pimple on a gnat's rear compared to the rest of the world. There was zero tourism anywhere for nearly 2 full years. Tens of millions of businesses failed around the world and things are STILL not back to pre-pandemic levels anywhere. So stop the ridiculous "the government" comments. BTW- I did enjoy this video. :)
You are probably a nice guy who I would enjoy chatting with David..but you may also be in an information bubble. Most of the msm media are not reporting the 10-20% excess deaths across all age groups in many countries. Many believe it is because of the "jb". Did you know that life ending drugs like morphine were given to people who were relatively healthy but had "C", causing many unneeded deaths. Dr. John Campbell is just one of many out there putting the spotlight on the important health issues surrounding this fiasco, if you are indeed interested in the science. The media and gov lied to us on much of the issues so search out the truth if you care about it.
@@AmazingPhilippines1 Wow. You are incredibly UNinformed. The facts are that the UNreported deaths in Countries such as the Philippines, due to province deaths, incredible lack of proper professional medical care throughout these Countries and the levels of belief in fear messaging about the vaccines, resulted in UNDER reporting of COVID deaths by MILLIONS. Boston University estimates that at least 100,000 Americans died of Covid and were not recorded as such. This is in AMERICA. The WHO and numerous other reputable sources estimate that the true death toll world wide was 2 1/2 times the reported 7 million. Many Governments hid or altered medical records. But you go ahead with your belief in this Campbell guy. And this, also, has absolutely nothing to do with what I spoke of, and that is that, apparently, you and other expats seem to believe that the Philippine Government as well as Thailand and Countries around the world PURPOSELY tanked their economies for no reason. The absurdity is stunning. I'll be in Cebu City in November and maybe we'll meet and have a drink.
A very interesting video thanks.
very good vlog,,was there before co-vid,,stayed at horizon 101,,,
Great video Rod,I'm hungry about now:)

i agree. even at breaks by a good band they will play the crappy electronic stuff, completely different than what the crowd came to hear.

That is correct, round about.
Where are the Mango's? lol
LOL.
Yes why Mango Avenue when the real name is General Maxilom Avenue.
How is this place in comparison to Burgos ?? Covid destroyed Burgos it’s totally dead
There are a couple of discos here but most bars are now down the street a bit and not all in one convenient area.
Chris in Cebu's old stomping ground. Man I miss Chris. Wish he had not taken down his channel.
Mango Square area with its glue sniffing child beggars is a problem. However I didn't see any on this video
About twice a year they pick up the street dwellers but they return in a couple of months.
are you avoiding the obvious?
I went to a bikini bar one time. It was expensive.
Waiting dropped etravel that's why noones coming probably 2025
