'Progressive music' in terms of genre (unusual song structure, switch-up of tempo, style, and time meters). Usually found in classical music, jazz, and prog rock/metal. This is why this song is a breath of fresh air in kpop, great showcase of creativity and skill in composition. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea and I admire SM for doing these things, always risky moves (first from the concept of Aespa itself, and now in terms of their music).
My take of the song is that it shows the 2 different world where the members of aespa crossing in and out of. Reality and along with their alter egos…love this experimentation. It’s new and innovative, keeps you interested. Different from your common predictive elements in music.
Naevis is maybe the counterpart of black mamba which is theoretically, irene&seulgi. (Naevis and blackmamba are twins) in monster mv, irene and seulgi represents each other but only one is the Monster (irene). U can see in the naughty ending that they created a world which is KWANGYA. Nct, exo, superm might also enter the kwangya. Also, the rainbow snakes here represents rv members.
naevis is the other ae with short slick back hair from ep. 1 black mamba. it just so happens that in this video her hair isn't slick back. she's the one who opens the portal for aespa. notice the part when they called her and she appeared the music suddenly changes and the background changes where in ningning's part it looks like she's in a digital world. then we start seeing the ae version of the members so it means that they went to synk or went to the portal which naevis opened trying to reunite with their ae versions to defeat the black mamba (continuation of ep. 1 black mamba).

@@hueyitlahtoani9242 I have to go by some UA-camrs I have met that literally talk about how you do have to be careful because of the “cancel culture people” lately. The sensitive people. So I personally know some UA-camrs and speaking on those that don’t like the song at all. I’m glad you do but they don’t, I don’t, some others don’t. Yet when some spoke up in their discord or other places they was attacked. Just like some UA-camrs don’t at all like collecting BTS. Then they was attacked by toxic army’s. So really it’s sad some people can’t be honest without being attacked, threatened, canceled, etc. BUT anyways I’m glad you love it. We don’t and I’m speaking on people I know who don’t.
NEXT LEVEL also seems like a combination of aespa style of music with all of sm groups’ style of music, put into 1 song. At the first part of the song you’ll hear some aespa and f(x) “Ooooh” and “lala lala” part sounds Red Velvet Ningning and Winter’s singing part sounds like SNSD and Super Junior The next set after that sounds like EXO bridges Rap is like = NCT Instrumentals and other unique elements in the song is very SHINee and somehow TVXQ. THIS CULTURE UNIVERSE IS CRAZY AND EVERYONE NOW IS SUPER INVESTED. AHHHH SO EXCITED.
I suggest that you watch the teaser video (ep 1- black mamba) first, the story first, for you to fully understand the change in the MV. This comeback was different but I like it 👀
Me too it is unique. Their concept. Even the stype and compose this song is different. Unique but still catchy
Who would’ve honestly guessed this song would’ve become the song with 2nd most digital points in Kpop history just behind DDDD.
we want an album and they really gave us a whole album in one song
as an sm stan especially nct recently, i get used to this kind of song that im not suprised anymore. honestly i love it soo muchh lol. may even more than black mamba
This is Aespa's mini concert.😂
This song is definitely next level 😂
Yessss
And no matter how well we know SM is a house who does this kind of musical experiment, let's admit that we still get shocked, bombarded and confused sometimes. Watching Next Level for the first time, I was laughing because I feel so lost with the song just like I Got A Boy, Zimzalabim and Red Light but after giving it a few more listens, it grew inside me and that's where I said, *"Yes this a bop! Lit! Periodt!"*
The more I keep listening to the song, the more I like it. Now I'm addicted to it!
This has huge Girl's Generation vibes to me ! Lots of "The boys" type of sound and this "multiple song in one" effect and beat drop definately reminds me of "I got a boy" and it's iconic "Let's bring it back to 1:40"
NEXT LEVEL sounds like parts of SM + YG + JYP title songs mixed together 👑
The power they hold
The Swag Raps = YG
The Cute Lalala = JYP
The Powerful Melodic Parts = SM
This song is one of a kind
This is a SM trademark song. Multiple song into one
How is ningning not the visual of the group? Jesus. She's so beautiful
I don't hate this song, I actually enjoy all of it outside of the bridge, but I do appreciate what they did with it and yes, the music video SLAYED as always.
I really really love how honest your opinion is, makes you the best k-pop reaction channel. Good going🤗
OMG FINALLY someone being so honest. Some youtubers are afraid to say what they really want to in fear of being cancelled. I CANNOT get into this song at all. I LOVED black mamba. I bought anything I could at SM that had aespa name on it. YET I CANNOT get into this song. I feel so bad for that also. I wish I could. I tried 4 times already but I am not feeling this song. Sorry but I am honest.
Try this "revamped" version. This song has grown on me, but I'm still not sold on the R&B breakdown in the middle. This remix eschews that portion.
I mean I don't think many are faking their reactions tho 😂❤ I'm honesty obsessed with this song and replay it literally EVERYDAY, it's not something everyone would like but it's still pretty good and one of my favorites 😂❤
We don’t and I’m speaking on people I know who don’t.
best reaction ever! -)
2:54 Are you going to dance or talk? Girl, decide 😂
Aespa is next level queens
I love this song♥♥♥
YUP, THEY ARE LITERALLY ON A NEXT LEVEL. YUP, THATS AESPA.
I love that it was like 4 songs in one.....iconic
I love your reaction at 4:47 u Literally depicting us as soon as we heard that part🤣❤️
This is the best version of next level😁😁great cover aespa
I love your smile it makes me happy
NEXT LEVEL also seems like a combination of aespa style of music with all of sm groups’ style of music, put into 1 song.
At the first part of the song you’ll hear some aespa and f(x)
“Ooooh” and “lala lala” part sounds Red Velvet
Ningning and Winter’s singing part sounds like SNSD and Super Junior
The next set after that sounds like EXO bridges
Rap is like = NCT
Instrumentals and other unique elements in the song is very SHINee and somehow TVXQ.
Also it's amazing how SM can pull off these kinds of concepts, this giving me NCT's resonance vibes. They know how to mash-up different tempos without making it cheesy
she did it
true!
