I’m on chapter 30 of TOG Empire of Storms. I put it down (for now?), it’s so convoluted, and there’s just so much info and characters, and places and happenings. 😫 But I was also kinda bored/just not into it. I feel like an anomaly.

I still need to read those books. I have put it off for so long because I know it will take some mental energy

I just finished House of Flame and Shadow!! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it. Also, I agree that it has very little romance.
I am DESPERATE for a series about the Princes of Hel, and I need it to have the steamiest romance and detailed backstories!!!!!!

I would love that. There is something about Aidas I like... I want to know more about him. I would love a spin off series written in the style of ACOTAR... guilty pleasure romance.

I read the first and loved it so much. I immediately picked up the second book and for some reason it couldnt hold my interest. I may try and pick it back up soon.

It’s really saddening to see that people suddenly started reading and new booktube channels popping up daily because it became a hit on tiktok. It made reading a trend, which will probably wear off soon and real readers will continue reading while booktube will try to find a new niche to explore. The same books circulating, if you read one then you are into your “reading era”. I lost motivation and a will to read for leisure, and being a PhD student in comparative literature breaks my heart. When a trend from the worst social media platform (tiktok) dictates even the reading habits, genres and makes it into a competition, then I definitely need a social media detox. This comment is not aimed at you, as you had your book content before all this began, this is my comment for the global trend and situation how everything can become just a trend influenced by social media.

I totally understand with this comment 100% I stopped reading for 10 years after my mum died and I picked up reading again in Covid but I tend to read the books I want to read and not be pressured into reading or buying popular books just for the sake of a trend or cause it’s a popular book I wait for the hype to drop then I read certain popular books but I mainly borrow books from my library’s. I mainly by books that I like the plot of or the cover I never buy a book because it’s popular. Sorri for the long comment and rant xx

I completely understand how you could feel this way... as if your sacred hobby has been hijacked. I totally get it. But I try not to look at it like this. I'm glad people are reading again.... truly. We're all on social media, video games and netfilx too much these days anyways... so im glad people have found another form of entertainment to enrich their brains. ESPECIALLY young people. There is nothing negative about the rise in reading. Will some of these people fall off the wagon after a few years? probably... but think about all the people that have discovered a life long hobby that they love. Yes TikTok does have their trendy books, but I think a lot of these books are gateway books that will hopefully push these people into other areas of reading. I made a promise to myself when I started my own book content back in like 2017 that I would never let Social Media dictate my reading life or make it feel like a competition, because I don't want to hate reading. If I only read 2 books a month... fine, who cares. If I want to read a random book no one has heard of before, I will. If I dont read the popular book everyone is talking about, who cares... there will be another one next month. There are great unpopular booktok books out there we just have to be willing to find them... and in my opinion, thats one of the funnest things to do. People will ALWAYS read... there will always be "book people", even if the trend falls off in a few years, just find those little niche book accounts you relate to and ignore the rest! 💜

      @@carahamelieI agree completely!
The bottom line is that there will always be trends but also, there will always be a truth that is stronger than any social media trends… and the truth I’m talking about is that there will always be stories that need to be told, and there will always be readers to read them and pass them on to others through time.
For me that’s what makes the creative art form of books so beautiful.
It’s the relationship between writer and reader, between reality and imagination, and I just love how it all stands the test of time from generation to generation.
      Just some thoughts,
but Thank You for sharing such a wonderful reply.
I LOVE your book page and everything you share here.
