The band I was thinking of towards the end of the video was The Sins of Thy Beloved. I recommend a track called "All Alone". Very doomy and gothic.

As you mentioned brass orchestration - what do you think about the brass orchestration of some of The Sins of Thy Beloved's ex-genre peers Within Temptation with their debut Enter album (probably their only fairly good album but still, it was definitely something that stuck out to me with its uniqueness)?

@@ГеоргиПеев-й3ы I will listen to it and let you know!

@@thewaxbiscuit Ah, great, thanks. I thought you should have listened to it cuz The Sins of Thy Beloved are pretty underground and unpopular even amongst the goth/doom fans and was really surprised that you mention them xd (while WT is pretty much mainstream at this point, even if for the genre change). Have fun!

Yea, weird, not sure how I found out about them. I think it was early 2000s.

Hi! Vintersea bassist / video director here. Thanks for reviewing “The Holy Procession”. I think you’d dig the production on our new album “Illuminated” a lot more. Big step up in my opinion. 1/12/21 we drop a video for “Crack of Light” which you might dig. Cheers man!

Interesting analysis regarding the mixing and mastering and such. This song was actually from their debut full length album from 2017 and the video was made by popular demand when they did an album reissue back in October. You might like their album “Illuminated” better-it had a higher budget for mixing/mastering and shows a lot of their growth in general as a band as well. The title track “Illuminated” would be a great one to check out but so would “Befallen,” “Fiery Tongue,” or “Old Ones.” You pretty much can’t go wrong with any of their songs imo haha. They have a new video coming out in January for a fan favorite song, “Crack of Light” too🤘🏼

Awesome. The band commented too, I will definitely give something from Illuminated a listen and do a comparison video.

Thanks for giving it a listen, we appreciate you taking the time! This was recorded back in 2016 and we were definitely still figuring out who we are - but we are still proud of the results. Our 2019 album 'Illuminated' had a bit more focus in the mixing stage, it might be worth a look if you get the chance. Cheers!

100% guys. Don't take my criticism too harshly, most people would likely disagree with me. 😉
I may do another video on something from Illuminated. Will be interesting to compare!

I love insightful, thoughtful reactions, as well as loving Vintersea. I'm subscribed now to hear more of your musical takes, and if you do get a chance to revisit Vintersea and their Illuminated album, even better!

Interesting to hear this constructive criticism and I would agree about the production. I found the second album Illuminated first and production-wise it is a huge improvement on anything on Gravity of Fall IMO.
I’m keen to hear the material from the first album in a live setting (some day!).

Thanks for checking this band out. Think you may have come up with some very good points. Vintersea does like to inject a bit of ambience in their stuff, so this isn't exactly an aberration. I know the band gave you some insight into where they were then and where they are now so I won't bore you with details. Was hoping you would come up with some thoughts on improving the production and you did. Hope your next Vintersea experience is more to your liking.

Thanks for the comment. I listen to my own stuff I did back in 2016 and would change a good deal. Just the way of things.
I was listening to the most recent Svalbard album today and some of their ambient tremolo picked guitars sound so lush and atmospheric and I was wishing that was more of what I heard on the Vintersea track.
I will definitely do a follow up reaction with some of their more recent work.
