Thank you for all of the info! I plan on buying a dehydrator probably since I am by myself I will get a smaller one but I will definitely use your link to purchase it from Amazon:) If I use the link and I decide on a different hydrator will you still get a credit for that? Because I think the link pulls up a one that’s over $100 and I didn’t want to pay that much right now. Thanks
Now I feel brave enough to start dehydrating! Thank you for the wonderful and thorough overview. I love your style and your ability to concisely share a lot of knowledge. Be blessed!
My Nesco is 15 years old and I dehydrate ALL the time! I make everything from fruit leather, to dried veggies, to jerky, etc..... I have been dehydrating and canning for over 45 years.....
Awesome informative video. This will probably freak a lot of people out, but one of the things I use my Excalibur for is drying tennis shoes. Just take out the unused trays and cover the ones you use with parchment paper and add shoes. No more clanking around in the dryer or waiting forever to air dry.
Excellent video. New to dehydrating with my 9 tray excalibur. Large garden so lots to do. Top shelf assistance you've provided. You've answered all my remaining questions, post manual. Thank you!
I have 3 coffee grinders, one for coffee, one for peppers and other pungent spices, and one for the mild stuff like seeds and nuts. It works for us! ♥️👍😎🇺🇸
I just started dehydrating again after a 3 year break (was a beginner anyway). Nevertheless, I decided to get everything out and see what I could do. I came across your video (thank God) after seeing a few. Your video is ABSOLUTELY the BEST across the board. I have my first trays of apples going now! Your children are VERY blessed to have you as a mother. Thanks a million, "dehydrator mom"! 😂
Thank you for this all-encompassing dehydration video. I am a beginner and you just gave me a wonderful foundation to start from. Many blessings to you and your family. Stay safe.
Thank you so much for this video. I especially appreciate the included expert resources, and your cautions are invaluable for someone new to dehydrating such as myself.
I sooooo appreciate you explaining things at a basic level. I learned so much. In less than 25 min I learned more than sitting in a classroom for hours and hours. Thank you.
Instant like& subscribe! 👍This was the most helpful dehydrator video on the internet!!!! I am so grateful for how thorough and incredibly knowledgeable you are. Thank you thank you thank you! ☮️💜
Evcellent tutorial! So many "choices" today, it's really nice for a young senior(78+) to not near some "scripted" information versus a real cook. Ihave been a "rental home, container gardener" for 3 years and I've been blessed with a harvest worth keeping ( not a lot!...but good) and I have a bucket full of peppers, even green tomatoes and herbs that survived a 1st frost this AM, (only 36, but nonetheless...frost). Wife and I just ordered one of those "portable walk-in greenhouses and hurrying to protect the rest of our tiny 'crop'. We desperately needed some 'down home', 'mother's love', advice on dehydrating. Thank you for some real sincere advice! We are in area code 67301 and had that "first frost" today.
Thank you thank you for this very informative video. I am inspired to start dehydrating now. I’m off to do my research on different dehydrators to see what would be the best fit for my family. You did an excellent job of educating your audience and the level of experience and knowledge you have lend a level of trust that most channels are unable to provide. I would love to see UA-cam populated with more content like yours. Rarely does a video comprehensively and honestly deliver as much valuable information concisely and such an easy to digest format. Well done and thank you again.
I bought a American Harvest 30 years ago, and it still works. I bought extra trays and never thought twice about the extra price. I have 12 trays and it is a monster, but I used to make jerky and lots of herbs. I love my little bugger. If it dies, I will panic! Thanks for your nice video!
Thank you. That filled in a lot of blanks for me. Why my banana chips started to deteriorate, a better storage situation for my veggie jars, and some general safety questions I've had since I started back in February. Subscribed :)
Thank you so much. I've just bought my first dehydrator. The excalibur wasn't available in Australia so I bought an Australian brand box dehydrator. It was a little more expensive than the cheapo Chinese ones but I decided pay once cry once. I looked at the box style and thought yeah that looks like the heat would be more even and it sounds like that's the case. I learnt a lot from your video so thank you for it. I will certainly check out your play list over the next few days. Your video contained a lot of great information so once again thank you.
You are amazing, thank you for all the other uses for my dehydrator, I was just going to order a fermentation station and here I had one all along! Love, light and blessings to you 💕❤️🥰
Glued to the screen. And we have been doing this for 20 years. Great Video. Lost it all when our farm house burnt down. Start again. 60 plus, they do not make things to last any more.
I just bought the Excalibur. I have never dehydrated food before but my goal is to fill my china cabinet with mason jars full. It seems to be a great way to store food and not have to worry about power outages. Also lighter in weight and takes up less space than cans or freezing. I really appreciated this video it was very informative and lots of practical advice.
Lots of great information! I have both a Nesco and Excalibur. I use both on a regular basis depending on how much I am dehydrating. I love it for herbs and medicinal plants! We create lots of great meals with our dehydrated foods. I will take a look again at how you use your dehydrated items to refresh my memory. Thanks for sharing :-)
I absolutely loved your video as I am trying to learn how to dehydrate fruits, veggies and herbs. Your informations are totally indeed ! Thank you so much. Kisses from London !
Thanks for the info!!! Another way to dehydrate herbs and cayenne peppers (whole) throw them in a paper lunch bag, clamp the bag closed and 'throw' them in the back seat of the car for a week or so depending on the temps. (I park in my garage when at home and in a parking garage when at work) If you don't, crack the windows and may take less time. Saves energy. FYI Cat Nip can be a bit stinky at first. LOL
I’m am inspired! I’ve had a Nesco dehydrator for at least 5 years, Was injured, & haven’t gardened, but I’m getting better so, I have a small garden & happily a green thumb. So many tomatoes, potato’s, squash, etc.. It also helps me get outside because of “Covid”. I’m excited to do this, thanks for the wonderful information❣️
Thank you so much for sharing all your experience with us. I am beginner dehydrator and this is so helpful! I also watched your pressure canner video for beginners. Still haven't taken that step but the canner is out of the box now :)

loved what you had to say i am trying to get back to the old ways. its been a while since i saved things to my u tube i hope i did it right. and can find it later.

You are a blessing to us younger generation who want to become more self sustainable. I really appreciate your videos
I appreciate that!
Deanna, you are a blessing to us old folks, that you would want to learn. most of the younger generation today does not care.
This was like the introduction to a beginner's masters class. Learned a lot in a very short time. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
All her videos are amazing and useful! Simple and to the point.
With today's economy I am starting to dehydrate frozen veggies. Thank you so much! My first attempt is going to be Tuesday morning.
Now I feel brave enough to start dehydrating! Thank you for the wonderful and thorough overview.
I love your style and your ability to concisely share a lot of knowledge.
Be blessed!
I bought an Excalibur years ago and put it away in the garage .. sending hubby to retrieve it. Thank you for the inspiration!
The Chinese knock off was better
Enjoy!
That is where I put mine too.
Thaaaank you for lifting up my spirits to get the courage up to start DEHYDRATING for the first time!!

Thanks! Normally I would not be able to finish a video longer than 20minutes but this is so informative!
The dehydrator tip for chips and stuff that has gone stale is priceless!!! I haven't tried it yet, but I imagine it will work like a charm.
I just scored a brand new dehydrator at 90% off brand new in box at a thrift store. So excited thanks for sharing ❤️🙏🏼
Star Gypsy Soul, God is good 🙏
Lucky you!
That is awesome!
I have both! Bought the Nesco first, then found an excalibur , 9 tray at a yard sale, still in the box! Very good information!
Which one is better from your experience?
I’m also interested which you like better. Is the Nesco much different than Excalibur? The dimensions seem very similar.
Grandma is a good teacher. Thanks, may the Lord bless you.
Thank you so much
My beautiful mother dried in her Excaliber for my nieces and nephew through their childhood in the 80s. She was my hero.

A dehydrator is next on my list of things to buy.
I love eating fruits and vegetables, love watching them grow and now I want to start a dehydrated fruit processing business. 🙂

I dehydrated tomato slices last weekend. We have now had two hard frosts. Only the kale, swiss chard and sunchokes left in the garden now.
Thank you for the wealth of knowledge
That's what I got a nesco I bought it about 4 months ago still learning how to dyhdrate my foods
Susan Taylor my Nesco is 15 yrs old... use it almost every week.... great dehydrator without spending hundreds, like an Excalibur.

Hello beautiful it's my pleasure to meet you
Dutch people have been dehydrating fish since ever and still do, either 'smoke'-drying or sun drying ... two types are still made, 'smoked eel' (which is actually more like dehydrating then smoking), and 'stok-vis' (translates as 'stick/branch-fish', mainly called this way 'i think' because it turns into something pretty dang hard), these can be all types of fish, but i mainly see 'turbot' type species, probably because these are already flat and can just be dried 'as is' (but i have seen other species as well) ... these are all eaten 'de-hydrated', so basically like fish-jerky.
I hope to mainly dry fruits and veggies, or make powders some day ... and by then i be sure to check out some of the playlist... Hopefully next year or the year there after...
Hope you are able to get a dehydrator soon. They really are quite useful.

A freeze dryer would be my upgrade over the dehydrator.
A few years ago picked up the knock off model of the excalibur. Works well and half the cost.
A freeze dryer would be nice but I hesitate because of the cost and lack of an extended warranty
My Dad gave me a used dehydrator he got at a garage sale, and I thought it was going to be simple.
NOT!
Well explained and informative tutorial M’am.
Now I’m not so sure I should use this Ronco.
I’m not planning on doing meat, just fruit.
I need a guideline of time. No instructions came with it.
I’ll have to check with the local extension. Thanks.
Glad it helped!
Ali 1116 Buy the “Ultimate dehydrating book.” Gives times , storage etc.
I’m looking to get a dehydrator. Need some more ideas of what I can do.
I love my Excalibur but other lower cost models are great too.
@@PrepperPotpourri Thank you
I have a one with 9 square trays you slide in but I found a Nescoat goodwill. Both work great. I run both of them when I am doing a lot. I love my dehydrator, canners and water bath canner.
Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks 4 sharing! We just purchased one n can't wait 2 get started! Ur video was extremely helpful! 💕
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much for the wealth of information!

Air drying is a great practice. I hope you are able to get a bigger dehydrator soon. It is fun to make your own jerky.
Why do you have to get a bigger one just to dry vegetables in? Put it in in the evening and then in the morning they’re done
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience
My pleasure!
Fantastic information. Thank you
