The step up from u21’s to first team football is a huge chasm. Young players learn a hell of a lot just training with the first team and been on the bench. It takes a special player to cement a place or even feature in the starting lineup for the 1st team at 18 years or under at a major club. Joseph will get a lot of minutes in the upcoming pre-season. This is where he will get the opportunity to stake his claim as a starter for the first team. Similarly with Crew, who will also be closely scrutinised. The suggestion that Farke does not give youth a chance is somewhat flawed when you consider how much he relied upon Archie last season.
He did that last preseason ask someone to show you the Barnsley game he absolutely mullered them ask the first team players. I’m telling you this guy is the real deal. And is one of the best people, professionals out there ask anyone in the Leeds that has had the good fortune of speaking to him such a polite humble person.
Farke only played Archie because he was stuck for fullback during the start of year chaos, and he played well enough to keep his place. Whilst some of the biggest clubs will give their startlets game minutes, Farke doesnt. As mentioned elsewhere, he likes his "experienced" players even if they are out of form. So regardless of how good these players are , if they make the bench that is where they will sit unless they get charity minutes. Young player? humiliate premiership central defence and score two goals? big deal.. you aint starting!!!

second youngest squad in the league btw as well. we need more experience not less IMO.
They won’t be getting a look in until Farke has gone then. Farke only wants EXPERIENCED players remember. And in his own words at the beginning of the season he’s ‘not here to develop young players’ Farke is the first manager to actually overlook the youth structure at this club in years not only overlook but hold back. Snowden out of contract and not having a look in is criminal.
disagree we haven't got time to be having a look,we need promotion,we didn't need to have a look at cresswell,joseph and gelhardt we already know they are good enough for this level, by all means give the young lad a new contract for the u21s
@@lightninggornallDon't you think at times of this season we needed Joseph up front when Bamford was injured and Piroe disappeared on the pitch and Cresswell when no Struijk and Ampadu had to drop back there. Have to disagree with you as apart from Archie, Farke has set back the young players at the club, would like to see the back of him ASAP and get someone in who does value youth
@@lanzarotewhites you must of got the wrong impression joseph would have been my first choice and cresswell my first back up after rodon and gelhardt first choice when rutter was abysmal for 10 games , id take joseph and gelhardt up top over piroe and bamford anyday
@@lightninggornall Definitely as there is nothing I disagree with what you have just said. I have watched Snowden too he is looking good and would be nice to see Crew as I have not seen him play yet. Frightened though if these players breaking through are not given a proper chance, other clubs will be the beneficiaries after we have spent lots of money developing them
@@lightninggornall Also think if we lose Summerville and Gnonto we could save money by going to a 352 Piroe can sit deeper, Firpo and Archie would be on more familiar roles that play to their strengths and James also has the pace too. All we would need is Cbs, progressive no.8, no.10 and top no.9 , get rid of Bamford as the last 3 seasons he has been so unreliable
I was so disappointed that they let Sean McGurk go. He seemed promising .
Yeah, it's unfortiante, but sometimes these guys want game time and we just can't give them it. a lot of good players will leave and have a good career.

Lopata white was the only one who was anywhere near the physique of the city players . We have a small first team and pretty small 18s .

I think it will be hard for midfielders to break through this season. We have 4 young v good players there already.

bold prediction Phil, i like it. i was watching some footage of sumerville at 17 and lets just say he was a lot more raw, but players develop at different times.

he's 15 i donmt really want to do it on guys younger than 17 to be honest. and there honestly isn't alot of footage i have access too that showed him so it wouldn't be a fair view.
All sounds really promising but is Farke the right man to develop this talent? Yes he has played Archie all season but that is it. Others have stagnated all season

We will see but his handling of Cresswell all season and Joseph at the end of the season is a concern

A lot of fans who eagerly support our youngsters have been disappointed really. It's been disappointing to see Joffy not be Suarez, Gyabi not be Phillips, even the dead cert talents of Cresswell have been reality checked.
I'd play them all and see who has the gift. But wave bye to 90pts 🤣
Farker doesn't believe in youth players. Look at Cresswell and Joseph. Frankly, these players need to be loan out now , first to Div.1/2, for 1 year, then Championship for another year.

Second youngest squad in the Champ this year. Played Gray, Gnonto, Summerville and Rutter all year. Joseph played a fair bit given he was injured until November. Think he will give people chances but pretty much every coach will want more experience than we had last year.
